You realize it's CCP that forced people to go to Jita, by killing Yulai, removing agents from that system and setting up ****** up trade routes? It's great being Amarr, aint it? |

One thing is, it takes time to implement whatever fix. If it's adding more hardware, they have to order it, test it, schedule a downtime to install it... If it's software, they have to test it, schedule a downtime to install it, etc. Whatever the solution is, it'll involve some changes to gameplay, probably, to get people out of hubs, and that takes time and meetings to agree on and implement.
I'm sure they'll fix it. Every MMO has problems when too many people enter one zone, the concept of spreading players around the zones is as old as the MMO genre.
Now, if it were me, I'd introduce market taxes based on how crowded the system is, and apply them to the seller. The buyer has no choice but to go where the goods are (cheapest), so slap the sellers and they'll spread out. That's my theory; it may be wrong and you might not agree, shrug. I'll wait to see what they do.

congestion tax works great in london perhaps to jump into jita requires 100k ( tho woudl affect noobs) so yes a higher seller tax would be best and also apply to contracts

But that doesn't matter! The point is, we NEED to leave Jita on mass, reduce the number of people in Jita to stabilise this thing until CCCCCP steps in and does something their end- whether it is convienient for us or not!

people will always want a hub system
look at the bigger picture, you could remove Jita from the game entirely and people would just go to Ours and lag that system out instead
only way to permanently get rid of this issue is to have a system where there was some sort of penalty to more popular systems. Sales Tax, Agent Quality, Docking Fees, etc could all be made to automatically change depending on a systems popularity. it would go a long way in spreading people out ----------- Turbulance |

Jita is a problem admitedly and so are some other high sec places that have everything in one system i think the easiest solution would be to have some form off traffic lights like it is in real life to control the traffic or like the gate queing system have a limit on the amount of pilots in jita so say like 300 and when thats reached and a player leaves, no1 in the queing system has a minute slot to jump through if failed he goes to the back of the que or something like that iono but something has to be done

Jita, and other systems, have high traffic due to the large number of sellers.
Easy fix, change the tax rate for selling and buying items on the market and contracts by 30%. And drop it by 10% for every one jump out, till you get to normal at 3 jumps.
Now, this will not 'fix' the problem. BUT it give the DEV's a great tool to control traffic by raising or lowering the tax rate.
People will shop where it is cheaper, so make it a little more pricey, and they will move.

20 leave, 700 stay, difference? People need to sell/resell/buy stuff someplace, unless trade routes are changes, people will stay in jita no matter what. Same ****, different day. It's great being Amarr, aint it? |

no need for drastic actions - a handful of "minor" tools are at hand:
snip sobaseki<>jita and replace it with sobaseki<>perimeter (or urlen) snip muvolailen<>jita and replaace it with kisogo<>muvolailen for example
-> i estimate a 5% lesser strain from transit to lonetrek and the passage to the citadel
not much, i know... but it's a start, travellers are happy. and if people still want to idle in _the_ jita, it might aswell be a little offroute

The problem of it being such a superhub is pretty easy to fix.
Dynamically increase the refining tax the more often a particular station is used (that'll get people out of the 4-4 station). Not by a huge amount, but a lot of tiny daily rates. Dynamically reduce agent quality the more people use an agent, let the quality go back up as people use it less. Raise market taxes in a similar way.
So people can do everything they used to in any system, it'll just eventually cost more than in neighbouring systems, so people will move all by themselves.

another sollution to the jita problem would be a half-hourly system purge with a systemwide DD.... make it affect docked ships too, and voila. ----

The only solution to the Jita problem is to remove Jita from the game. It has been the major trade hub for far too long, and for as long as Jita exists people will head there to trade no matter what you do to stop it.
I would nuke simply Jita and the surrounding systems. Have some spatial anomaly send the stars in the systems nova heavily damaging the stations. The damaged stations would lose all station services and only allow hanger/clone bay access. Concord would announce that the stations are irreparably damaged and only have four months of life support remaining before becoming unusable, and all citizens are to commence an immediate evacuation of the area. After 4 months to stations would become undockable, system security would drop to 0.4, and the area would become a tourist attraction for new pilots like the Eve Gate is today.

There is a problem and it goes like this:
I search for the best price for item (a) I search for the best price for item (b) I search for the best price for item (c)
.... I can't be bothered to go to every region to find the best price, it would take all night.
I know (1) (a), (b) and (c) will be at Jita, I know (2) that more than likely with the cut-throat competition the price will be cheapest in Jita.
So we need an Eve-Wide market (similar to escrow), so I can quickly source and purchase an item anywhere. Regionalisation by stealthing other regions leads to the creation of an Eve-wide hub. No amount of twiddling about with jump-gates, security levels, agent locations etc. with make a damned bit of difference.

Not sure if this'll work but i honestly believe its a bit more realistic...
Gradually lower concord protection as more and more people enter the system. To the point where a pirate could get away with blasting a ship. Presumably due to Concord being way too busy dealing with the traffic to deal with a random ship being blasted.
You could even apply this throughout the whole of empire space. Would mean constantly fluctuating trade lanes, and those whining pirates complaining about warp to 0 might enjoy the new hunting grounds.

Eve wide hub.. sounds good to me. But, there should be a delivery time, if you get access to the entire universe (except 0.0). Because someone (perhaps a player?) has to move the stuff you bought.
Other than that, the only permanent solution, is a mind-set change in the entire playerbase. Starting with you

Dear Grant Smith in response to your reply:
"Yeah, I mean wtf at so many carebears? Get your lazy asses to 0.0 and have some fun ffs. :/ Playing Eve isnt about wealth or making money, it's about having fun, and I dont think anyone can tell me they have fun missioning or mining, trading or w/e, highsec sucks, get yourselves out of there. Daaayum."
For you the game might not be about mining, trading, missioning etc etc, but guess what? Now grab a chair and sit: Comfy? ok this might be shocking>>>some or alot of the tens of thousand of players do like that aspect of the game...now before i continue i will give you a few weeks to grasp that concept :P

I always find it amusing that the people who suggest turning a popular system 0.0 for a day 'without telling anyone' probably have gankships at the ready.

Put extra tax on goods that is not native to the region to promote more regional trade hubs, rather than one giant global one. Would promote the trader profession too.

Removing hubs doesnt do a god damned thing. It didn't work with Yulai and it wont work now. (for RP's sake, Yulai should STILL be the main hub, its Yulai ffs)
I live in 0.0, and hunt in 0.0 but i will still go to the most populated system to sell my faction gear because it'll sell quicker, end of story.
Jita doesnt need any missioners and it'll still be a trade hub.
What jita needs is a system that bypass's it so people don't have to travel through it who arn't going there.
Here an idea. There are 5709574054327509834 stations. Why not make 1 station sell 1 type of merchandise. One for weapons, one for armor stuff, one for shield stuff, one for comodities, one for implants etc etc. Yes some will be busyer, but it'll spread it out over 10ish stations.
