What seems to be the T2 ammo choice? Can someone give me the pros and cons. I used quickfit to look at some numbers.
According to quickfit there is not tracking changes which does not make sense since one has .75% and the other has .5%.
The other major difference was the falloff and of course the damage. So, any help would be appreciated in clarifying this. Also, any other essential ammos I should be packing? I was thinking something with thermal.

Edited by: Aterna on 13/12/2006 09:17:13 Quickfit isn't up to date, last I checked.
I stand corrected, it is updated. I would check and make sure you have the newest version, Barrage and Hail should both have hefty tracking penalties, possibly different range bonuses/penalties, and different damages now.
Void M, for example has only a 25% range penalty which makes it longer range then Antimatter M, but 50% tracking penalty and its damage went down slightly. While Null was changed to 80% range bonus, a falloff penalty was added (not sure of exact penalty) and the damage was reduced to roughly that of Iridium? Unsure. - - -

you should carry Hail, Barrage and Phased plasma around with you.
Barrage as your standard loaded ammo. (range 4tw)
Phased plasma for shield tankers or small ships (no tracking penalty)
Hail for equal size or above close-range fights (remember to keep transversal very low, as your tracking is megacrap) ---------------------------------

Nice and straight forward. Also, is there a formula where I can get the tracking on my fitted guns to find the absolute highest transversal my guns will allow me, that way I know when I have x ammo loaded, my target's transversal cannot go above y.

Not exactly, but if you go to the stickies at the top of this page there is a post by the Devteam about how tracking works, and at the end is a beautiful little javascript app that lets you mess with your guns. You'll need the following, taken from your guns fitted, with ammo in the clip:
Optimal Falloff Damage Modifier Rate of Fire Tracking speed Signal Resolution
And the exact Damage of each ammo type
Plug all that in, and then vary the Sig radius and transversal to get a feel for the different sizes of ships. A very useful tool. - - -

Ah forgot about that tool and you're right, very useful. Thanks for the reminder.

I have to say that Hail is now better in PVP than Barage. Barage use to be the fricking king. But now its suck IMO. I keep Hail loaded..with t-sabot/ left over Barage in my cargo.
just my 2 isk.

given the ridiculous price of barrage atm, Hail is the way to go.
I usually carry Hail, Fusion, and PP.

emp is half explosive half em while thermal is em/therm
EMP ammo might be slightly (less than 10%) better on shields, but I'm sure PP makes up for it in general purpose usage, since almost everyone has a thermal hole.
