You have to restart EVE, I believe, to make the AA/AF settings apply.

I tried it too and it worked for me actually. Unfortunately my frame rate also dropped quite a lot when using it, but it looks good. Its only really visible on some ships though. The Drake shows a big difference for example. But I didnt see a lot of difference on the Hurricane. The darker the ship, the harder it is to see the difference.

Try messing with your Z-Buffer settings for that one.
Do you mean in game? I currently have it set to the top z-buffer setting 32 bit and something but i still get black patches so would setting it to a lower setting work? Also on a slighty different issue every time I try to set eve to "w-buffer" in my attempts to fix the black patches eve just sets it back to "-z-buffer" why is this ?? Also what is W-buffer?

i meant the ship models in eve, until DX10 and vista is out the 7950GX2 performs only a few points under the 8800GT and i have no reason to upgrade

More specific please... what should I do to my Z-Buffer, and where?

Don't expect everything to look as great as in the frontpage screenshots or the more recent trailers - they are shot with EVE's new graphics engine that is still being developed by CCP. Our game clients still use the old one. Especially the "shinyness" of ships won't be nearly as good on the regular clients.

I hope they completely rework the LOD in this game.. ATM its ass.. On gets you a big screen of nothing when you zoom out a bit except for the biggest objects and off just makes *everything* max detail.. Even the tiny stuff you don't see well even close up but still has like 1000 polys.. Nothing like warping into a mission with LOD off and having your GPU go into convulsions.. We need a happy medium that lets everything stay onscreen but have an actuall low level of detail model so at distance it just doesn't disspear..
