I didn't see another appropriate place to post this, so I am posting it here.
I notice that alot of screenshots, including CCP the detail in the game is much higher. Ships, Stations, Planets all look 100x better than they do on my client. Are there some hidden detail settings somewhere? I looked through the in game options and they are pretty sparse in regards to settings.
Anyone know? ---------------- -CDL-Hamma - DragonWolves |

2. Put advancedDevice=1 in your eve/cache/prefs.ini file to unlock more options.
3. Max Antialiasing and Anisotropic Filtering in your graphics card settings.

Another good tidbit hehe.
Do the additional settings make the game look about as good as it does in some of the front page screenshots when cranked? ---------------- -CDL-Hamma - DragonWolves |

Yup. Can't get any better than max AA/AF, high resolution, and LOD off.

Keep in mind if you don't have a powerful PC, those settings may decrease your FPS greatly.

While we're on the topic of graphics settings, is there a way to turn off or turn down the graphics on clouds?
Everything runs nice and smooth most of the time but the second i get a mission with one of those clouds in, my frame rate drops right down. Same thing happens with 3dmark benchmarks, loads of particles slow the framarate down to under 10fps

I thought LOD was level of Detail and having it enabled means better graphics.
Im wrong ? -----------------------------------------------

Yes and no. Level of Detail basically means objects that are closer will be at full detail, while objects that are far away won't be as detailed(Because you won't notice it, at least, shouldn't notice it). Turning it off means that all models in EvE will be at highest detail no matter how far away the object is.

LOD = far-away objects get lower polygon counts and eventually get reduced to a single point of light.
Not much noticeable difference in gameplay, but it can increase FPS a lot if you have a slow computer.
Originally by: Quin Tal Keep in mind if you don't have a powerful PC, those settings may decrease your FPS greatly.
The AA/AF settings shouldn't affect FPS much if you have a decent graphics card (but whatever you do DO NOT turn on 4xS or 8xS if you have an nVidia card--these are extremely GFX-card intensive and do not help much over regular 4x or the like).

hmm, I have no Antialiasing and Anisotropic Filtering settings in my lame graphics card options unless I am looking in the wrong place.
My graphics card is a Geforce6600GTX but even my 5600 had these antialiasing settings in the graphics card options. So I must have forgot where they are located...because I dont see this option ingame either.

I have a nvidia GT6800 and for me, the settings are in Control Panel/Nvidia Control Panel/3D settings/Configure 3D Settings.

Try messing with your Z-Buffer settings for that one.

When you use 16-bit color, you'll get a lot of color banding in backgrounds and the like that looks really ugly. Dither basically allows stippling and the like (like you find when you save an image with a lot of colors as a 256-color GIF) on a small scale to limit the quality loss by using 16-bit color.
However, hardly anyone should be using 16-bit color anyways except on the most obsolete graphics cards.
