**Yes, I have already reported this bug/filed petition on 8/28/15**
Step 1: Start EVE Launcher, log in successfully. Step 2. Press "Play" and the game launches. Step 3. Screen comes up with the loading screen as normal. Step 4: Loading screen completes as normal but the character selection screen is now replaced with a black screen, the exception being a small gray circle at the bottom left that states "resource loading" (or something similar) when you hover the mouse over it.
This is only happening with one of my accounts. It is coincidentally happening directly after I swapped and used another character on the account for the first time in a while. I believe the character portraits may have something to do with a hang-up on the graphics.
I have: -Restarted computer -Reinstalled EVE (I think?) -Run the repair tool many times -Run the recache.exe file, regular and as administrator -Tried the download installer thing
I am running Windows 10, Nvidia 660Ti |

UPDATE: Launching from eve.exe and resetting from in-game both "settings" and "cache" accomplished nothing except making me have to re-do all my over views. |

UPDATE: Launched EVE on a different computer, Windows 7, still encountering same problem of black blank screen at character selection. Going on 4th day of not being able to play with this account, would like some feedback/help or someone to respond to my support ticket(s).
I believe a simple move from current ship or the likes may work, or resetting of character portrait. |

Your character will need a little bit of help getting into a better state, and it's being looked into :)
Regarding resetting your settings: when you reset them, a backup is made so you can get your old settings back by renaming folders.

You guys did something because the character selection screen is working. Thankyou so much!
This happened simultaneously as me running compatibility mode with Windows XP, but I believe whatever was done on your end fixed the issue.
So what happens in this example - characters get stuck in limbo or something preventing loading? I saw some threads from 2013/2012 and before with similar issues stating some sort of ~limbo state~ problem. |

Yes, one of the GMs fixed your character :)
I believe the "limbo" states are usually resolved by downtime or by moving your character somewhere else (there's some bad state on the node or the solarsystem) but this was not a case of that. This was a rare case where you cannot log in because of a timestamp mismatch in the training queue (please check the reply from the GM)

got 3 accounts, this one in particular doesn't make it to the login screen, it has his load menu after that it turns black with bottom left resource loading, i've been stuck in here for about 20 min now. other accounts work fine.

Reschace.exe downloaded some files but this didnt fix it. Rebooting didnt fix it either. neither does either of the launchers or EXE file.
Game night ruined :( |

don't forget to check the cache in addition to game data
2 caches to clear : 1 from old laucher that clears some data (settings, advanced, there is a clear cache button) 1 from in game (esc - reset settings - clear data cache)
the second one can be done outside the game and is next to the "setting" folder
C:\Users\%username%\appdata\local\ccp\??????????\cache
(???? = some folder where eve is, looks like c_program_files_eve_tranquilit or d_game_ccp_sharedcache_tq_87.237.38.200 )
just kill the content of the cache folder with a shotgun. or hit del, whatever suits you
but unless the problem is server side like OP (wow never saw that) it's most likely cause is 1 corrupted game file 2 corrupted user cache
(this stat is purely based on last month lurking here, nothin official) |

The client's local session information is corrupt, probably as a result of failed cleanup during a disconnect. Connecting to the server in this state could lead to a rather unpleasant game experience. Please restart the client prior to logging in.
Getting this when i try to go through the exe. other than that the same black screen at my chr selection. |

Having the exact problem on my main account only (it's a Steam account [I know, I know, but I didn't know any better at the time]). The problem persists across multiple machines, so the idea that it is character-linked makes sense.

Add another one with this problem, I tried to login clicked character and sat there with a black screen for ten minutes. exited with taskmanager and restarted now I get the black screen before character selection just after after loading bulk data. |

I got the same problem! and i tried on different PC, but doesnt help.

Ticket is the only way
lots of post here, and first ones from a few days ago (blood raiders?)
then someone reports a queue issue after getting fixed by support ticket, and a patch note says something about reimbursing skill point because blood booster were not working correctly (negative sp or something) anyone who had a black screen, did you use a booster recently, a blood raider one for example?
(that, plus brain in box around the corner, pure assumption but in vegas they said BITB was now or next week, speculation, overruled.)
call me paranoid but it seems suspicious can't someone identify all the account getting black screen without getting called by users? |

everyone with this issue needs to open a ticket if cleaning doesn't work, it is server side apparently, so only support can help you

It would be nice if this issue was promoted to the LAUNCHER so people arent nuking every registry and folder connected to CCP and EVE trying to solve the issue thinking its software/hardware on their side. As I have been doing for the past two days. With multiple GB's redownloaded attempting to troubleshoot this on myside.
If the bloodraider booster is causing issues, the masses should be warned.
Putting in a ticket now so I can actually use this account again. |
