Seriously, this thing is a mess that most new players seem to get directed towards right after doing the tutorials (sit in a help channel and see). This is their first exposure to what they think the game is without training wheels, and it is atrociously dull.
Of the 50 missions, keep the missions that teach a lesson like Kristin, Dagan and burning down the hive, keep the mission with the stolen nidhoggur, eliminate the rest.
There is no good reason to send somebody you are trying to sell the game to on a tedious 200 jump round trip across the galaxy, with 40 superfluous 'kill this one easy npc' 'go fetch this from 4 jumps away' missions. If they chose mission running they'll be doing that anyway. |

It does "kill time" whilst the skills train though, gives them time to absorb rookie help (Which is sometimes not full of bad advice) |

If not for the Sisters Arc most new players would likely never venture more than 10 or so jumps from their starting system until much later in the game. Just getting them out and about the EvE universe to see things they would not see otherwise is all that is needed to justify the length of the Arc.
They continue the exposure to many parts of the game like scanning and give a slightly more practical way to apply those skills.
And for most the near 15 million ISK you receive as pay bonuses and bounties is significantly more than you could make with virtually all other new player friendly activities over the same time.
And like all missions you can always quit in the middle if you want. |

Send them to jita, or hek, once, one mission to get there, one mission whilst there, one mission back.
- "Sister Alitura wants you to pick up a space-sausage that she purchased from Jita, the space sausage is to lure Dagan into a trap" -"Oh no, Dave, a starving nobody, has stolen the space sausage so that he doesn't starve, go murder Dave for his insolence and retrieve the space sausage to help the sisters of eve" -"Bring the space sausage back to sister Alitura"
Bam, 3 missions to add to the 10 to achieve your goals, so now we're at 13 out of 50. Those missions don't send you anywhere other than Hek that is worth knowing about or worth seeing. And if it's spectacle you want, Jita has all that and more. You want to show the newbies how busy and bustling this game can be, or send them somewhere worth knowing about? Sending em to jita, or even just Amarr or Dodixie (better than Hek) accomplishes this and doesn't take 20 missions to nowhere
They don't need to be sent to woop-woop nowhere 20 times. |

Anyways... This Ark shows you the universe you are playing in, it exposes you on these travels to other players, sends you through hot spots, requires you to manage your route and consider aspects of the route such as low sec short cuts. It also teaches you that it takes time to get to objectives or places in EVE. Not to mention the time aspect, the missions give you something to do, something to travel around with a purpose while certain skills run down and finish so that you do not need to sit around idle and ponder the meaning of life. This ark teaches players a lot more things than you are apparently capable of seeing. You might want to turn your head forward the next time you engage in any gameplay activity, it might help you to see things clearer.

But the aroma was so sweet...

In all seriousness, I do agree that it could be shortened somewhat, but not to that extent. Reducing it to around 25 would mean that most of the chaff is gone... maybe keep one or 2 distro missions for the sake of it, but no more then that. |
