I run on a Geforce4 Ti4200 and things run from what I can tell, itended. Planets rotate, have nice textres and lighting is correct. The sun doesn't occlude right at the edge, but this can actually be attributed to the bending of light aroudn gravity fields (imo ).
You can do anything you set your mind to. |

I want them to add glow around ships when the sun is between your ship and the star. That would make me happy. Right now, you move your ship in front of the star, and you can't even see the glow of the star, it's just silly.
Also there is the weird lighting issue where if you rotate around a station it changes the lighting and highlights... but that is for a different forum.

Edited by: Ia 'Ras on 26/11/2003 12:01:07 Edited by: Ia 'Ras on 26/11/2003 11:57:50 No problems here - Gainward GF4 TI 4200 44.03 driver graphics tuned up a bit with RivaTuner
and of course Early Z-occlusion is ON
I've always wanted to see reflective water, if there are oceans on the planet (like in Hegemonia game f.e.). That would be great.
PS. Oh and the thing about sun, and pixel shaders. Some of you are wrong here. Only the Geforce 2 and GF 4 MX cards are crap, these ****ty cards do not support most of special effects. All Titanium cards have no problem with that. You need a card that either supports fully DX 8.1 or DX 9.0. Geforce MX card is not one of them.

Edited by: Bad Harlequin on 26/11/2003 13:18:17 GF4 Ti 4600 here - 45.whatever drivers. So i don't get anythng out of DX9 either. Occlusion works perfectly. Nice gradual fading of brilliance until it disappears. Oddly, SOME planets rotate, and some don't.
In the interests of getting things done faster when i could be getting blasted at a JIP waiting to load, i don't have AA running and AF is kinda low-ish. I was planning on turning everything up to max to get some screenies, i'll let you know what happens.
This is goofy, one of the showcase DX9 games lets you - well, either go with the turns-out-inferior-oh-well GeForce FX cards, or get ATI and miss out on the reason you got it.
What i'd do is take a screenie or two, zip 'em, bugreport it as graphic glitch. Then send a copy to ATI support as they quite possibly don't know a thing about it. I keep hearing EvE mentioned as a standard for ingame graphics now, so i'm *sure* they'll be interested. Who knows, maybe you'll make it to the readme file
oh yeah, and listen to la'Ras above as well. Think "MX = neutered." They're cheapo versions of the same chipset that have most of the fancy stuff turned off, and are basically just glorified 2D framebuffers... i wouldn't try running anything fancier than Blue's Clues on them...
You are in a maze of twisty little asteroids, all alike. |

Well I now have the 'no planet texture' issue.
I did not have it then I went and cranked up all the settings in Rage Tweek. Now the planets are nothing more than coloured balls :-(
So there you have it, it is something to do with the hidded settings in the drivers, bumpmapping version 2.0 or whatever funky stuff there is in there.
Oh and its a Rad 9700 Pro
