basicly im thinking of the big stations(ie the NPC ones), and the stargates(if they even have people, but i think they are automated).
i mean based on size we can say a station can have several hundred thousand easy, and a stargate if populated maybe 500-600 as all it would need is an engineering and maintance crew and maybe some form of ATC.
im guessing everyone on them works for a living as this isnt startrek where if in the federation everything is free. just think i can picture the lower decks of a station down near the engineering and industrial decks being the slums while the rich live up at the upper decks among the admin decks and control towers for docking and local traffic control.

Sure, it seems the stations are orbiting cities to look at the animations within some of them. The hundreds of lights dotting the outsides probably only hint at the volume of habitable space. How many of these people are vital components of day to day life, and how many are forgotten dregs ekeing out an existence on the leftovers of starborn civilization? Who runs things on these stations; are they elected, appointed, or does a "power behind the power" really control the truly profitable exchanges which take place onboard? Probably some combination of each, depending on the station. Whole stories could be told about those tough, streetwise denizens of the lower levels that deal in the matters those of the spires care not to soil their linen gloves with, doncha think.

it is possible that they are set out in that way i visit around 90 stations a day and im not a trader and i would be lead to belivie that the lower sec space the worst the conditions are but trade hubs like jita are a slum under the decks but not for people considering at anyone time there are more then 300 people in the system

Don't forget maintenance drones, and all the money to pay the people/employees on the stations generated by us Pod pilots.

Edited by: Arron S on 23/12/2006 08:46:35 Edited by: Arron S on 23/12/2006 08:45:45 The space stations(large ones) I figure have a population of atleat a few hundred thosand. And if you look at the size of the interoir hanger bays like on the Galante and Ammar Stations, which supports that 100,000's of people live on station. while station in lower populations mite have populations of a few hundred. IF you read threw the Backstorys of eve you get the idea that some stations have large populations.
Note: Babylon 5 was 5km long(small for a station by eve standards) and had about 250,000 people living on it. In the TV Show Star Hunter about 3 Billion people live around Jupiter(Most in large space stations with populations in the millions) Gah! |
