Does self destruct destroy all fittings on your ship ? I had a cyclone self destruct on me when I took it down to structure and the can only had a little bit of ammo in it, and nothing else.
I didn't get the kill mail either.

Edited by: Damien Smith on 15/12/2006 13:14:25 In my experience it does. I once had my CEOs Domination Warp Disruptor on my Lachesis when we were attacking a Navy Raven on a mission. He said afterwards on vent that I'd better not get popped before I dock or I'd have a painful situation involving a fully grown polar bear, several large cactuses and gimp mask. Needless to say I activated self destruct so he'd see the "Damien has stupidly pressed the big red button. Your disruptor's gonna die" message. I then pressed it again to cancel it but got no confirmation message. I, then panicking pressed it once more, again, no message.
By then I was petrified. I tried to instadock to a station to remove the disruptor before I potentially blew it up, but my CEO had thought it a brilliant idea to nos me while were sat in our supersafe, 100au+ from the nearest station. I made my first warp, got my insufficient cap message, dropped out of warp. I then made my second warp, got the same message, then dropped out of warp, still 20au from the stn. I warped again, and got 18au before dropping out of warp and instapopping.

Edited by: SwindonBadger on 15/12/2006 13:24:00 well at least when u self distruct a pod fleshy stuff gets left in space, the good thing is as its space it vacume packs itself and freezes, so in many light years to come just a little afterburner or mwd thrust on it and its still fresh and BBQ'd .... not too sure about mods though

I know about pressing it again but the last time I used it I was a noob and it used to say "so and so has aborted their self destruct" or something like that. When I didn't see it I figured I was lagged and because I panicked I pressed it a few more times to be sure. Of course then I forgot how many times I'd done it and didn't know if it was set to pop or not.
I totally agree on the 'lol' though. Replacing that one was a painful dent to the wallet and I'm still getting laughed at about it. ----------- Join channel 'ExScape' or die! (bring pie) I <3 carebears on toast ^^ - Xorus I'll trade you some carebears for some sheep -Tirg

Self destructing does destroy all the modules. Drones and ammo appear to be unnafected by the self destruct command. ___________________________ ~Jiekon

Today me and my corpmate while roaming in 0.0 got rokh. As we had only inty and af it took quite long time to get that armor tanked (lol) bs down. And shortly before it went pop it self destructed... There was only some projectile (lol, again) ammo in the can.
I consider this to be a bug cause i dont see how this could be feature - this rokh pilot saved himself from humiliation that 2 small ships took down rokh which had weird fitting - armor tank, projectile turrets (wild guess cause no killmail to check and i didnt pay attention in combat, there were only projectile ammo in the can) some missiles, no nos and no drones. He only gained from the fact of self destructing as he left us without loot. luckly we got his pod.
If i am right and he wanted us to get no kill so noone would find about his ship loss (and weird fitting) he kind of succeeded + he left us without loot. So i will reveal his name anyway - it was Mormagil from Underworld Protection Agency corp, Sylph Alliance.

exactly ..
well, i have no proof. Thats why i consider it to be a bug. I think that hiding loses and using so crappy setups on ships do not bring respect to corp or alliance, so he will have to talk to his mates.
they have no reason to believe me, all i can show is pod killmail .. he he .. frapsing fights ftw! ____________________

if i were in a situation where escape is impossible and destruction inevitable, then id selfdestruct just to **** the people off trying to kill me
or they would have to be faster than the selfdestruct timer

Every Carrier i've killed have tried self destructing before we could kill them but it only made us kill them faster and forget about ransoming.
I think that when you activate self destruct all your modules should be offlined or something so they can no longer tank or shoot; or at least not be able to self destruct while being shot at. _________________________________________

Self destruct should blow up your pod as well if you are still in the ship.. You can always eject first, and it gives the attackers a slim chance to board and stop the self destruct.. Would probably never get implemented though..

If you eject from the ship the self-destruct deactivates. Think about it why else would you see so many shuttles floating about at planets and stations. And why didnt you try this out before posting .

It was a hypothetical suggestion that would never get implemented, not a review of how self-destruct currently functions.. Please re-read and submit a 3-page report on the post..

Someone at the CCP hq, please send Oveur to this thread. Thank you.
btw, self destruct has (as far as I can recall) always destroyed all modules. It used to be used when under attack by pirates, to prevent them from grabbing the loot, which is why a timer was added.

Hehe, IMO self-destructing is just low. If the pirates and PvPers get me, then i'm at least curtious enough not to make sure they don't leave with nothing.
Therefore I proudly say that I have NEVER self-distructed a ship with fittings on it before, and neither when i have been engaged.
Destroying everything via a self-destruct may prevent them for getting anything, but it will in my opinion will label you as a target, since in my opinion its nearly as bad as smack.

Depends on whether I am fit to travel/haul or fight. If I was Hauling/Traveling I'd do it in a new york minute. (SD) Same if I was interrupted Missioning and was going south fast. It's the last hurrah, a defiant finger to mine enemies.
Doubt I would if I was in a PvP fitted ship, or just jacking around LowSec. |

tbh i don't even believe this post. this guy has been posting rubbish for the last week or 2.
i don't see how u can attack a cyclone, he realised he's losing the fight then hits self-destruct, then tanks you for another 2 minutes while his timer goes and then he pops.
so was this cyclone pilot another noob like that raven pilot u were smacking? or are u a noob for taking so dam long to kill a frickin cyclone?
