This wookiee powered down his lightsaber in disgust over a year ago. Thanks for waking the dark side in me again. Prepare New Eden for a Sith invasion! Upon closer inspection, that Caldari BS doesn't even look like it got hit with the ugly stick, it looks like it *is* the ugly stick. |

Great idea!
I also think that everyone in EVE should receive a message saying: "You just won EVE again" to stroke their egos.

I am totally against this new expansion
I want to carebear and therefore feel that if I enter the arena to carry out peaceful PVE I shouldnt be penalised by having the same odds as those who have invested time in gaining the skills needed to use DICE
therefore I propose all those with a sec rating below 0.0 should have a 3 sided Dice with the numbers 1-3 on them
all us with a sec rating over 0.0 should have the usual 6 numbers, but due to the possible probabilty of us throwing a low number we get 2 goes and the results added together
The above keeps the current status quo

I was happy with the old system. It only had one problem, and that was the disc, rather than sphere shaped scanning area. That alone was the sole problem with it.
As far it not being possible to make me happy, that's true. There isn't an icicle in hells chance of ccp changing the current system in favour of the old one. In that sense you're right. Eventually they'll get an adequate balance on this chance based system to allow everyone to be reasonably happy but it'll still be Dice Roll Online.

Hey, pirates need to have fun too, so shouldn't the expansion also include a system that forces a destroyed ship's pilot to write a praising eve-mail to his/her killer, praising the killer's awesome combat talents and the victim's utter helplessness before such might ? That way pirates too would get better satisfaction for their achievements :)

I did like the old system, in that when you broke a safespot there was a sense of achievement. Majorly annoying to be stuck within 1.5au of a target, and repeatedly running scans with 3AU and 10AU probes, and getting nothing - because it was offplane, and there was no way to get an offplane safe in that system for me.
Now they've changed it all, just as I worked out a way of reliably busting offplane safes in my home systems

Edited by: Argenton Sayvers on 15/12/2006 22:10:33 Critical hit.
As for the actual topic: Its not about easy versus hard. Its about fun versus lame. Right now, noone can really tell what the system is like. But if i understand it correctly, its pure chance (just 1/100 as likely as before). Which means statistics. Which means it may be brute-force-able in acceptable time given enough resources.
So pre-Kali, only the skilled cov-ops pilots could find things.
Maybe it will turn out that you just need 10 cov-ops (which can be controlled by 1-2 players since scanning doesnt seem to be all that involving now) to totally ruin someones day ... statistically guaranteed result, effort = time spent in front of the computer tabbing through clients hitting a button.

Originally by: Damien Smith The probability of rolling favourable numbers can be altered by training certain skills, such as:
- Dice Recognition - Allows use of weapons systems controlled by the 'Dice' system. Prevents mistaking of other cube shaped objects, (ie Sugar Cubes) being mistaken for 'Dice' items.
- Wrist Co-ordination - Improves 'Dice' system calculation speed by 3% per level.
- Tactical Dice Manipulation - Uses ships warp computer to improve probability calculations. 6% boost to chances to roll a result of 1-3 per level.

Bravo!!! Wow, as a former SWG player that went through those changes (darn you Sony) that was very funny.
I just hope CCP realizes that normalizing and equalizing everyone and everything will result in total garbage. Things have to be hard and have to take skill to keep a lot of your player base around. ---

CU Improved:
*roll* "I'm going to" *roll" "warp to a" *roll* "safespot and" *roll* "log off because I am" *roll* "horny."
Everyone has a chance of winning AND losing, thus we have attained balance. On a possibly unrelated side note, I believe my venti marble-mochaccino has just kicked in. Wiiiii!

CU was decent? No, no it wasn't. I was a MDoc [or training towards] from the day Shadowfire went online to the day CU came out, then I gave away my resources [including my coveted LWW and 997/998 tubers ] and closed my accounts. If you played CU, you understand why it completely ruined the game for me.
I'm still looking forward to a decent Pre-CU emulated server.
