As many of the EVE community are aware, Tranquility has had some stability issues after the Revelations deployment. Downtimes have been extended, some markets have not been working properly, and there is a memory leak that has forced us to reboot the server a few times. This has had an obvious impact on EVE's playability.
What is being done about this, you may ask? The Dev team are continuing to troubleshoot the causes of these issues and find solutions. Yesterday's market and node stress test on Singularity was one effort, and there are a number of other steps being taken behind the scenes.
Some machines that were removed from Tranquility due to memory issues have returned to service after the issues were resolved, the remainder will be added over the weekend. A number of server-side hotfixes have been deployed and the memory leak we have been tracking down should be fixed due to a fix added during today's downtime. Also, we are in the initial stages of moving Jita to its own node and should have this process completed on Monday. Finally, new load balancing will be added to TQ on Monday, hopefully resolving the last issues we are facing concerning server stability.
Rest assured the Devs not working on the server issues are continuing to work on the items that have been submitted via bug reports and other means.

Thanx Man. We know you are doing best you can. And I am sure I speak for the majority of the "sensible" EVE community when I say that we have faith in the Dev team.

I must say, moving Jita to its own Node is a really neat idea. It is kinda nice to have a bustling hub now and then, so this is excellent. |

The load balancing issues have made maintaining Jita on its own node difficult. We are looking at a longer lasting solution than the one we currently have.

ok, so that makes it kinda on it`s own node till it can be moved to a dedicated node?

Thanks for the update. To be honest, I've not noticed that much. RMR was the smoothest major patch ever deployed. It still has some issues in the cosmetics, but for me it does not affect game play. I like the way the teams are deploying the code as it sounds very similar to how I do my own coding.
Keep up the good work and get those rogue drones out of the servers, eh?

So you've added server side hotfixes, returned to service some nodes, patched a memory leak.... the only thing left is new load balancing... is that right?
The game was almost unplayable at 12:45-1:15 EVE time this afternoon, so will the load balancing on Monday fix that?

well, kieron, nice to hear that devs are working on it, i haven't expected anything else. after all it's their job. i don't want to sound sarcastic even though the previous comment already was, but...
...
... for some reason what you just said has been said for MONTHS. server stability and playability has been poo since dragon at least. wasn't there loads of hotfixes, new hardware, load balancing or just "efforts" and "looking into it" during these months? has it helped any? unfortunately all of that has done jack to fix lag and stability. what will be different this time? will you find the missing semi colons in your code and miraculously fix stuff? if there were really *that* many fixes as you suggested with "we're busy resolving the issues" i wonder what ungodly amount of bugs this game has and how they should be ironed out short term.
i'm sorry, patience is a virtue and i can assure you i'm probably one of the most patient people you can find. but ffs please get it right for once. this is really disappointing. thanks. --

i just re-activate my account and i am noticing bad lag. i suspended my account back in july and i am wondering if this lag is just recent or has it been going on for months? if months, then i am worried that the new blade servers that were deployed are not good enough to handle the 30k players that are now on at once.

The lag still exists, and I dont see any end in sight. They like to feed us this BULL that they are fixing the servers and moving things around. It's all to give us a false sense of security that anything is ACTUALLY getting done over there. Instead, they'll continue to press forward with new in game features to keep us occupied and hopefully have us forget about the lag. CCP has one more patch until revelations will have been fully deployed, and honestly I'd rather they went back to RMR. There was no lag, at least not this bad, before revelations was deployed.

I am constantly having big trouble getting in and around anywhere near Jita. It sucks, because there are not many agents I can use outside of this system, so I often have to travel to here to do missions or actually take the missions there. Yes I am new!
Right now I am doubting if I will be able to get on to play again tonight. After the game stopped after entering a gate to Jita, I waited 5 minutes and closed down, reloaded - now I can't "enter game". Seeing as the servers can not handle the stress, priority HAS to be given to returning players (logging in so they can play and leave the system), otherwise the gates to Jita should be closed until the level of players falls below a certain level. Not quite like the queing system before, but similar. I just want to get on and play!!!

Instead of throwing hardware at it, taking things out of game play, etc. How about we start with the database schema and system layout?
Wasn't the removal of the super highways supposed to remove hubs and therefore lag? What happened to that?
Wasn't reducing the number of controllable drones supposed to reduce lag? What happened to that?
The removal of instas was supposed to reduce lag. What happened to that?
More blades were added to reduce lag. What happened to that?
It seems to me that we're in the "poke and hope" stage of troubleshooting.

Please can we get and update, or a temporary solution ? The uber lag today does no permit us to play Jita, Motsu and close areas!? Stuck in Motsu, and can't even change a skill ? this is UNPLAYABILITY POINT !
Petitioned to a GM for help ! NO RESPONSE !!!
And since I can't login and play, try to post in the foruns about it and in 15 seconds the new tread has been MODERATED and directed to here!
So I humble ask CCP Gods... What should I do ? Can't play, can't even change a skill (losing training time!!!) can not complain about it either! And, on top of that, problabliy the next post an slick veteran guy will rain the hell out of me, setting me in flames! SO NOW WHAT CAN I DO ? STFU ? Forget about EVE and get I live ? Isn't it ?
In two words, simple and clear -- WE PAY TO PLAY! -- And today I got ZERO Playtime! ZERO! Only thing I'm getting in return from CCP is pure stress. Not fair!

And exactly how stressed do you think the devs are at this point?
I believe the 'add the hardware' idea to be an effective one but wouldn't it be far more effective to just kill the problem at its root? Lets have a MATURE debate that goes beyond "Leave Jita". The tax idea could be a good one.
How about: Due to customs and other laws if you sell equipement in another Empires Space then you are subject to new tax laws. So a Minmater would not be taxed if they sold things in Minmatar space but they would in all the others. Of course regions which are not empire controlled would have no taxes because no one controls them.
Lets discuss

Quote: And exactly how stressed do you think the devs are at this point?
The same any paid working stiff has... key word is paid. Bills suck, we know that, but if work were fun it would be called something else :)
Quote: I believe the 'add the hardware' idea to be an effective one but wouldn't it be far more effective to just kill the problem at its root?
I'm not completely sold that there isn't a logic problem somewhere. A problem that no amount of hardware can keep up with. I see this "hardware shotgun" method day after day at work. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. But it seems there is usually a software problem at its root. So much more can be done with tuning before you get to the level of hardware additions.
Quote: The tax idea could be a good one.
This actually sounds promising. Tax rate could be something as simple as number of gates or connected regions (signifying a hub system) or an average of jumps/players over a given period of time. Though, with the second option, it could be exploitable by large alliances somehow (number of players etc). But in all, could be a workable solution to spread out the market. If you NEED to sell in a high volume market, you'd just have to realize that you will pay more to do so (ie. selling in BFE Kansas compared to selling the same item in CA or NY).

I would also like to voice my dissapointment in the lag recently... the game has been unplayable alot in the past week- I understand that Kali just came out but really, the lag is getting out of hand.
