I've never seen the pic for the Punisher, but that Atron one has been around for a while - it's true that CCP hasn't gotten around to remaking many more models yet, but it's understandable with how much they have on their plate :P I'm looking forward to seeing it eventually.

I believe this is concept art made by CCP themselves, so I think it is on the agenda somewhere, far far away.

Atrons are used quite extensively.. derptrons are real.
Punisher is suck i agree. I dont even see a difference in that punisher model compared to what we have now. Did they fix the lighting in the front so its even?

New ships have done more to hurt eve in the past year than anything else. Balance what we have first PLEASE.

I too care. Sometimes updates to the ship models cause people to look at a ship they didn't pay attention to before. Sometimes people won't fly ugly ships... if a less ugly ship does the same job.
We have new 4 new ships already this year: the T3 destroyers.
We have new game mechanics as well: 'fozzieSov'.
Depending on who you ask, those won't save the game but destroy it.
Personally, I like it all. |

As a software developer for a mid-sized company, let me assure you that the art and asset department are some of the last people you want touching the code that drives the ship. It's on part with letting management, T1 help desk, and outsourced janitorial staff muck around with the code.

I do care a lot. Not only do many ships need a replacement for their nefarious hulls, but more importantly, the Art Team has less time to waste on SKINs when they take care of renewing ship models.

I've been hoping to see the Atron-Ares-Taranis and Griffin-Kitsune lines redesigned for a along time now, and this gives me hope. Thanks for sharing the pics.
The main issue with the former was the asymmetrical design though, and I see that remains on this new concept. Maybe at least have symmetrical wings for the T II variants (like it has been done with the Raven-Golem line)?
I hope CCP are also planning a redesign pass for the Thorax-Deimos-Phobos line and Minmatar cruisers - all ships in the game would look part of the general visual design after that.

I do care about the hulls too. At least when I'm docked. I kinda like that Griffin looks. Got the new Caldari sexy looks, so can't come soon enough.
Punisher looks great, hopefully she will be great to and the Atron - I always think of the Taranis first.. - give them the new sexy looks you got going for Gallente ships - the Luxury Yacht anyone?

There is one thing about the puisher that I would change.
It is something that, currently, borders on cringeworthy.
Pull up the Punisher, zoom in close and look at the window/lights across the nose.
Sigh. CCP... really? |

The punisher is also very rounded in shape like the aug, should change those thrusters too, to be more squared like the impairor,aug, navy aug.
The square shape compliments the round shape nicely, just like glasses on a face.

Actually I would say seeing ship model updates were a big factor in bringing me back.

And we are getting some new ships soon, not sure about mechanics?
And while they're at it, omen, harbinger, prophecy could use some modernization as well.
When you look around at sci-fi ship artwork on the net, there is some seriously nice stuff out there. And then you'll wish you hadn't, because it makes some ships in eve look dated.
Does it not make sense lore wise as well? The U.S. isn't still rockin' the m4 sherman, they upgrade and upgrade and end up with an abram. Why shouldn't eve factions be upgrading their ships?
I'm sure many people have their opinions on which ships they want to see model updates/changes on, but I imagine it is actually something very time consuming for CCP to do. Besides time and energy, is it money they need? Then support them if you can. I'd rather buy plex to support CCP than donate to some breast cancer crap where only 10% of my donation actually goes to the cause. |

4-5 years? We'll need loads of beers and popcorn till next redesign...
A mix between a Jackdaw and a Blackbird. Nothing really new, but it totally discard the original hull... There were ugly hulls (Osprey/Exequror/Dominix/etc) that managed to get a nice redesign while keeping the base generic form/design, and i do think that all redesign works should retain the old ship general look. We don't want totally new ships, we want totally less ugly ships.

I'm probably the only person who likes asymmetrical ships. The only asymmetrical ship they've made symmetric that I've liked is the Scorpion.
