Edited by: Marcus TheMartin on 16/12/2006 00:01:11 I've only run into anti pirates in hysera back in the day and that was when I was usually always by myself so they would come in a battle ship or 3 and say come out lets fight then I would say no then they commence the smack. In reality as long as you aren't pirating in a big mission system you should be worry free of anti pirates. (more like pirate pirates if you ask me )
Also if you don't make posts about you stroking your epeen you'll be fine Sig Nerf - Cortes

If you are not a pirate then you are an anti-pirate. Anti-pirate corps pose little danger with the new warp to 0km. Anti-pirate corps usually don't go out of their way to hunt for the pirate. They usually start pirate hunting once one of their own is popped and by that time the pirate is already long gone. War decs on a pirate corp in empire space are pointless if the corp has no PoS.

Anti-Pirate corps are as dangerous as pirate corps...Which means some more than others. Every anti pirate corp is like any other corp..with goals, veterans, rookies, resources, lack of resources, et cetera. You can't snow ball their lethality or danger level because they're anti pirates
The above comments can be fairly true, but the warp to 0 thing is crap. A true anti pirate will go out of their way to find pirates. They will hunt you. They will take your bounty. Maybe not succesfully the first time or every time, but its what they do. Every dirty trick the pirate can use and muster so will an anti pirate, because they're virtually the same animal standing on opposite sides of the fence from each other.
Some of them will only come for you if theyre threatened or if you pop a corp member or some such. Others are more active, hit certain parts of territorial as an outlaw or from a known pirate corp and the head hunter gang is formed, wether a two man team or a blob. They will hunt for you, and probe you, and when you warp to 0 and jump safely, the Battleships and Battlecruisers on the othe rside will start tanking the guns and the intys will catch you.
Again, maybe not the first time or even ever depending on what anti pirates we're talking, but sooner or later a proffesional is gonna come along and change that "Theyre not dangerous newb blobs smack in local ftl" persepctive some folks have.

pirates fear nothing from anti-pirates. There just arent enough of them, they are less organized, and much less knowledgeable about how to catch people than pirates. That normally means, that a pirate that doesnt want to get caught, is nearly impossible (even with the new probe system) to catch.

Aye, I've got to agree with Radcjk. There are some anti-pirates who aren't so dangerous, and are easy prey for more experienced pirates. Most anti-pirates usually end up here, in my experience. However there are a select few corps who are very deadly, and will actively hunt outlaws down. I've seen one or two of them where I used to hunt.

That's a rather naive and simplistic view, IMHO. It would be exactly like saying that "Only cruel and sadistic players are pirates. Most pirates are nubs." FOR THE EMPEROR!

From my experience there are only 1 group of antipirates that scare me it is a small corp called the parabellum project or something like that. They operate in the citadel around tunadan and hysera. All other antipirate corps in that region would come smack talk to me and when I tell them to go to tama (MD-K hotspot at the time) if they want to go stroke their sense of mmo justice any they would cower away. People associate anti-pirates with irate noobs that go after pirates and die. Or irate groups of noobs who blob pirates then smack talk.
Unfortunately this is misrepresentative of people who make it their profession to kill pirates. Those people have to be some of the best pvpers in the game because, lets face it - pirates have to be good at not dying. -----------------

If you want to tango with a good anti-pirate corp, let us know when and where. We are always looking for a fight. Reasons its good to be an anti-pirate: 1. Corps around the galaxy will help you with logistics (IE. Discounts on items ect) 2. Pirates, unlike empire wars, will stick around and fight (And thats what the game is about) 3. Griefers (mainly) tend to make the game less interesting. How much skill is involved to kill a barge? 4. Pirates have good loot. Because, pirates take look from their victims, fit the best out of it, we kill them and take their loot. Cuts out the middle man.

Im my limited experience, anti-pirates are only so till they get bored and then they are no better then the pirates they hunt. Can't say I really blame them, it must get boring hunting someone who is good at avoiding fights that they are unlikely to win. Sooner or later the bears in the belts start to look pretty tasty |

Some are good some are bad. Most tend to be cowards who run at first sign of any losses.Always engage their blobs and kil some.Their morale and enthusiam will quickly drain away after a few losses.

But yet you can say the same for pirates. Once a good anti-pirate kills a pirate, you'll find they dock very very quickly when you enter system from then on.

I remember when Celest Apoc were anti-pirate. Thye helped me out on one occasion when I was in Star Alliance. I believe they changed once they realised that to flourish a corp needed to be more traditional in its outlook.
Im sure some of the older members will explain why they stopped being the best known anti-pirate Corp to a more mundane type of Corp http://www.pixelopia.co.uk/files/signature.jpg |

Anti-pirates are most often a complete joke.
As said earlier, they run at the slightest chance of a loss and then come back later in a big blob.
I like them tho, gives more fights. ---------------------------------

Mercenary Coalition and Celestial Apocalypse have made me sit on the edge of my seat for the best part of the last two years.
The rest of the anti-pirates are mostly harmless to most of my endeavours. The mobs of angry carebears that are organized across several systems in low sec are much more of a threat to me and the average roaming pirate.

There are very few serious and decent anti-pirate corps in eve. most ppl who call themselves anti-pirate are just industrial corps who occasionally like to pvp by ganking solo pirates in a group of 10 ppl and think it makes them anti-pie.
the few true corps that seek out hunt and annihilate all pirates are quite effective but very rare so not a huge threat in the grand scheme of things.

Very interesting. I'm not a pirate, though, mate; juste interested in the subject. And I thought it was against ISS regs to engage pirates unless they engage ISS members first. FOR THE EMPEROR!
