Hi, Whenever i go into a area with multiple enemy's firing at or near me the game freezes for a few seconds and then my computer restarts, when i turn it back on i get a message saying that my computer has just recovered from a serious system error (or something to that effect.) I have 1gb of ram and my graphics card is a ATI RADEON X700 SE.
Thanks.

Turning off sound completely in EVE is a good first step. --*=*=*--
The cause for this is not yet known, but we do have a possible fix in testing. by Sharkbait | 2006.09.20 |

I had something similar happen to me tonight: was going into combat and as soon as firing started from both sides all the UI element boxes (iconbar, cargo list, modules, cap graphic, chat window, etc.) were blinking and unresponsive. As well, the areas with text (chat window, context menu, cargo list, etc.) were filled with jibberish. My FPS dropped from ~40 down to ~10 and lagged like crazy. Luckily, I was able to pull out of combat and when the firing stopped everything was back to normal. I tried one more time to enter combat and the same exact thing happened again.
I rebooted my entire system and it seems ok... so far. I'm a little weary of going into a tough battle at the moment.
I don't have sound turned on and I'm using a GF5700 card.

g-force 5700 should work fine could be ram problem when u get this not the system problem he's talking about, think it is VIA on intel chipsets that restarts it with ac- sound cards have getting reboots when sound turned on so i turned it off and no problem after that and that was the only thing i found out about it is the chipset trained as a Suicider but lives with the madness |

Turning off my sound fixed the problem, thanks. But is their any other way of fixing it other than just keeping the sound off?

I'd like to add myself to the list of people having this problem. I haven't tried turning of the sound yet, but indeed when getting locked on and being fired upon freezes the system for about 2 seconds and then reboots it. I've reinstalled EVE without effect. I'm currently playing on a 14-day-trial and enjoying it (except the obvious problem here =P ). I'm considering subscription but I wouldn't like paying for a game that has no sound.
P.S: I had sent a Petition ingame and got the reply that the problem is corrupt .Jpeg files, though after installing the patch for the problem still occurs.

I am another that is having this problem. When rats spawn in a belt I am mining in, my computer reboots. I have installed the optional patch and also deleted the IMG folder every time I open the game, before logging in.... and it still happens every single time rats spawn.
I have a radeon x850xt.
I will try the sound thing. It'll be annoying, but I'll try it.

I'm getting the same problem. I recently upgraded from an Nvidia 6200TC to an ATI Radeon 1900 XTX. Eve is the only game thats crashing. I get a stop 7F error. I've stress tested my cpu and memory, no other games crash, benchmarks don't crash only eve. Always occures at the begining of combat.

Yep, disabling the sound fixed the problem. I am using the onboard audio from my P5WDH motherboard(Intel 975x chipset, HD audio). Going to try using a sound card I have laying around.

My Specs
Intel E6600 2.4 Core 2 Duo (dual core) 2gb Corsair XMS2 667 DDR2 Gaming Ram MSI 975X Platinum MB ASUS 7900GT Top PCI EXPRESS 2x 250GB seagate barracuda 7200rpm HardDrives
there is no reason that I should be crashing like this and its quite annoying I have all the latest drivers and My Bios was just flashed with the latest bios drivers..
Hope this gets fixed soon. I just want to enjoy the game pre revalations style. (Love Revalations Hate the Full system reboots)

Tyny, try changing your onboard audio from HD mode to AC97 mode in the bios..there seems to be other games crashing when using the onboard audio with 975x chipset motherboards..

also getting BSOD's, and stop 7F errors, as reported by someone else, but not just in combat, though it ussually seems to happen at similair places (docking/undocking from a certain station, aswell as entering combat).
my system seems to think ive got corrupt RAM, but i doubt that as all my other games run fine, i'll try a stress test at some point aswell. i havent tried disabling my sound yet (i'll do that after downtime tommorow, if i log in now i'm surrounded by rats and crash instantly)...

this seems to be related to realtek audio onboard sound...
I have disabled hardware acceleration on the sound, and disabled sound, and it fixes the problem. However, i would like to see this fixed at some point. Will putting a sound card in help the problem at all? still, tis a bit of a ****take

I only installed this game a couple of days ago and it is completly unplayable at the moment. Played it on the first day for 4 hour and then my PC reset.... i has gotten so bad it resets every 5 min now. Have disabled my sound (which is a joke) and it still happens...What a waste of money. Are there no admins reading these forums that can state how to sort this problem out or is it even being addressed.

Instead of turning sound off you can change sound settings under the control panel. Just go to Advance settings and Performance. Move the slider down to none to turn off Hardware Acceleration. This fixed my problem of dropping when I would start fighting.

I had the same problem, the only way to fix it is to disable eve's sound or disable hardware acceleration..... which doesn't always work. Its to do with Realtek on-board audio and Intel X975 Chipsets.
Sign this thread which deals with realtek and Intel chipsets Link, hopefully they will fix it even though its been around for several months.
GM retrofire has posted a few things to try to help: Link and Link both are stickies.
So far there is no fix just a few workarounds.

I've been seeing this problem on one of my P5WDH Deluxes Running Windows XP Pro
My System(s) Specs are P5WDH Deluxe 2Gb PC6400 RAM ATI Rad 1950XTX
I have 2 of them one runs XP the other runs Vista Ulimate.
I've tried all driver releases upto the latest from Realtek version R170 - June 2007
My Second PC running Vista Ultimate (exact same setup) except for OS does not have this problem so it is driver related.
I've also plugged in a set of USB headphones (Logitech 250) and it works fine also into the PC running XP
Simple suggestion replace your Soundcard, The Realtek onboard is a POS and a waste of CPU resources anyways.
I do believe the issue is related to the 3D sound parameters i've had some success running the card in 2 speaker mode and setting up windows in 2 speaker mode also.

This happens a lot to me and is completely reproducable.
Just have something else besides eve use your soundcard (mine is a sounblaster x-fi). 2 eve accounts with sound on - reboot eve running with sound on along with winamp - reboot eve running with sound on along with say watching a movie in mediaplayer - reboot etc etc
However it doesn't seem pnly related to being in battle. I've had it with just staying in a station while playing a video.

Also having this problem as described in a similar topic (which can be closed).
I have a Trust (crappy 5.1) sound card and this evening I will try to disable hardware acceleration or just turn the sound off.
I won't continu playing if this error is still there at the end of my subscription period. I don't want to pay Ç15,- a month without any sound.
Since this problem is here for a year, support isn't really fixing it so it seems.

Try to lower your hardware acceleration support from your sound card. This can be done from dxdiag sound tab.
