The oldest player in EvE
Hi Guys
I just want to give a big shout out to CCP and the oldest player in EvE which I think just goes to prove what a great game this is.
HeÆs the grand age of 73; he plays daily and lives, believe it or not in 0.0 space. I for one have been so surprised by peopleÆs reaction to him playing.
Most have been great. In fact the reason for me posting this now and not before was I was concerned that this would be a little like sticking a target on his back but something happened a few days ago to change my mind.
PopÆs was in low sec space 0.1 in a station, he had jumped there to pick some things up. He was watching local chat from the station as we all do and noticed a few hostiles including some of you ever so nice pirate fellows.
He started chatting with the guys in local, one of them had even heard of him lol. He talked with them for a while saying he was looking to leave the system. They kindly offered to escort him out as all good pirates do .
After chatting some more and after one of their number started to swear and bad mouth him and was shouted down by their team mates, he took them up on their offer and left the station in his Shuttle of doom. He fully expected to get podded but believe it or not they kept their word and escorted him out of the system.
IÆd like to thank those guys for the respect they showed Pops. HeÆs made many friends in EvE. Most know how old he is and how much he likes to help his fellow Alliance members and the newer guys in game and they in turn do like wise
Now you may be asking how I know heÆs really as old as he sayÆs thatÆs simple heÆs my father.
So thanks CCP for the game and thanks in advance for not flaming this post which is a big shout out to how EvE transcends the age gap and also means I get to spend a lot more time with one of my personal heroÆs, my PopÆs aka Space Hound.

I played with a 65 year old lady for months (in the corp). She wasnt into PVP but she was real good at Trading, she had so much patience and perseverence that by the time she felt she needed to go, and she started as a total noob, she has made enough ISK to give each "poorer" member of the crp. about 350 Mill ISk each. I been playing for years and hell if I know anything about "trading" and "margins."
Wish she would come back, was very cool to have her around.

its nice to hear a good story like this at least every now and then, props to the honest pirates, and props to your father for not kicking back in a rocking chair moaning about 'those damned kids' and instead, kicking back in EvE --

Isn't Zhuge Liang like 79? Regardless, respect to the older generation for not letting age get in the way of what they want to do .

This is great, I was beginning to think I was the only player at the 60 (or over level) in this game.
I am very happy that there are others out there who stay and think out of the box.

Well I'm not professing to being anywhere near those sorts of ages (I'm 34!) but I was just wanting to add that then I first met my "better" half her two stepkids were playing Runescape.....shortly after I got them both playing Eve and although they left for 6months of wow (I know, I know!) they are now back playing EvE and dissing wow!
The point I'm wanting to make is that I pity my other half having to put up with all of us playing eve all the time!
And before you suggest I get her playing it's not gonna happen!

not exactly old myself, but it is cool to see people from all generations being able to play an excellent game imo, whatever game that may be.
as a side note, i've met some really cool pirates, and when I was leaving a system that i lived in for a couple weeks mining and doing my thing, had one guy (-10.0 pirate, couple years old iirc) help escort me out of the system since the gates where being camped.. (i was a newbie at the time, about a month old or something)
In regards to the RMS chat, in efforts to look cool and hip, people using the 1337 speak look like ignorant morons from WoW. |

We have the coolest grandpa on earth in the corp He's over 65, has 2 accounts and rides a Harley when he's not playing Eve.
In fact many of us agree somewhat with what was said above. The rl older players really add sth to the group. They usually have more patience to reach their goals and don't strive to prove themselves like us younger guys do. It relativates and often removes pressure from the group. -----------------------------------------------
Yup, it's great to be Amarr :-/ |

Interesting thread. I know a couple of over 50's players. Makes one wonder, if all the people who play games now, intend to do so in their retirement (that's my plan!) then we may even see a 'greying' population in MMOs. New ISS IPO

38 years old here but this thread has made me feel like a teenager again now that I realize there are quite a few older guys and gals in the EvE universe. To the OP: I am glad your dad enjoys the game and has fun with it. I would like to teach my 66 yr old mom but she barely knows how to use a mouse and doesn't seem too interested in computer games. She just goes on her computer once in awhile to look up recipies on the web.
