Greetings Capsuleers!
Earlier this morning I posted a forum topic in the Ideas & Features section of the forums about creating a disabled player group. You can see it here. With the feedback given in that thread, conversations with other players both in game and on Slack we've decided to move forth with the Disabled Players Union.
The Disabled Players Union is a player created and player driven group for any player with a disability. I am actually legally blind so it would be great to talk to you all! Anyway, we've created a in game chat channel called "DPU Lounge" and we're setup for as many of you want to join that channel. We've reached out to CCP Guard in regards to getting us on the next o7 show and we've also reached out to Bobmon about getting us shared on EVENews24. Hopefully things will pick up pretty fast!
The purpose and goal of the Disabled Players Union is to provide a safe and helpful space for players with disabilities. So please join us!

Best of luck to you. Hopefully bad apples don't spoil it.
It is something I work towards in Eve, creating and working with people to bring out a focus on the social aspect over just "winning the game"

I like your engagement Morgan. But isn't this one of the few opportunities for disabled people to share a hobby with Not-disabled players? They get "separated" in RL much enough, i'm sure most of them actualy enjoy it not to be labeled as "disabled" if they pursue their hobbie. |

Very true, people are free to associate themselves with the group in whatever way they wish if they wish to at all. :)

That is one example of unique eve. Here, players compete equal, but social is a strong part as well. Ability to relate and talk some real world can help. Also different players look for different things. Will help people relate just in playstyle alone?

IIRC there is a group for the deaf, but I wouldn't call them disabled. Here they are just as enabled and anyone else. |

people that can see worse than X are considered legally blind. it doesn't mean they can't see anything.
the chart doctors and opticians usually have at their office is called a snellen chart.
people that can't see the biggest letter on it from the suggested distance even with the best correction available to them are considered legally blind. there are other things (like very limited field of vision), but this is the explanation that is best understood by amateurs. this doesn't mean they can't see the letter when it's right in front of their face, or with better lighting, or inverted contrast.
there is software available that will zoom in on a specific part of your screen for you. windows actually has a build in thingy (press the windows key and + to open it). I just tried and managed to update a couple of market orders at 500% zoom (which made the letters as big as my thumb) i bet i could manage mining, industry, hauling, trading and shitposting just fine. |

I have osteo-arthitis, and end up with a lot of pain issues, and so my typing can be shite, and my mouse control wonky. I walk with a cane, and have a disabled tag for the car. Depending on HOW I feel on a particular day, I can park at the far end of the parking lot, and other days I need to be parked mere steps to the door, Like most, I get good days and bad days. I have done absolutely NOTHING but put up crap for sale since my Alliance has some DRAMAH LLAMA stuff going on, while I was out of game for a few weeks. They left, I am stuck in Null Sec, and so I have been selling stuff to afford to get back into the fight, I wasn't too active before, as I fly poorly in PVP, and have nto been in many fleets to get better at it. I have not quit, and don't plan to. You CAN'T quit anything when you have a disability or you would never get ANYTHING done, let alone live!
I still get out to TNR cats, and do some rescueing as well. I had the highest mark in one of my classes in college, and made the Dean's Honor list. (TNR = Trap/Neuter or spay/Return)
I do stuff out of game, and am looking for employment, as well as companionship.

Oh! Very glad to see this. I have MS and a lot of the nasty little issues that come along with that particular boogeyman. I'll be hopping into your channel next time I log in.
