Earlier this morning I posted a forum topic in the Ideas & Features section of the forums about creating a disabled player group. You can see it here. With the feedback given in that thread, conversations with other players both in game and on Slack we've decided to move forth with the Disabled Players Union. The Disabled Players Union is a player created and player driven group for any player with a disability. I am actually legally blind so it would be great to talk to you all! Anyway, we've created a in game chat channel called "DPU Lounge" and we're setup for as many of you want to join that channel. We've reached out to CCP Guard in regards to getting us on the next o7 show and we've also reached out to Bobmon about getting us shared on EVENews24. Hopefully things will pick up pretty fast! The purpose and goal of the Disabled Players Union is to provide a safe and helpful space for players with disabilities. So please join us! But isn't this one of the few opportunities for disabled people to share a hobby with Not-disabled players? They get "separated" in RL much enough, i'm sure most of them actualy enjoy it not to be labeled as "disabled" if they pursue their hobbie.

Here, players compete equal, but social is a strong part as well. Ability to relate and talk some real world can help. Also different players look for different things. I just tried and managed to update a couple of market orders at 500% zoom (which made the letters as big as my thumb) i bet i could manage mining, industry, hauling, trading and shitposting just fine.

I walk with a cane, and have a disabled tag for the car. Depending on HOW I feel on a particular day, I can park at the far end of the parking lot, and other days I need to be parked mere steps to the door, Like most, I get good days and bad days. I have done absolutely NOTHING but put up crap for sale since my Alliance has some DRAMAH LLAMA stuff going on, while I was out of game for a few weeks. They left, I am stuck in Null Sec, and so I have been selling stuff to afford to get back into the fight, I wasn't too active before, as I fly poorly in PVP, and have nto been in many fleets to get better at it. I have not quit, and don't plan to. You CAN'T quit anything when you have a disability or you would never get ANYTHING done, let alone live! I still get out to TNR cats, and do some rescueing as well. I had the highest mark in one of my classes in college, and made the Dean's Honor list. (TNR = Trap/Neuter or spay/Return) I do stuff out of game, and am looking for employment, as well as companionship. Be well!

When I first started playing, I was pretty intimidated by other players and stories I'd heard. I was nervous to approach other players and join a corporation. It's funny, I've had to such hardware (Razer's Naga mouse and their gaming keypad, the Orbweaver) for more "twitchy" games and other MMOs, but the more relaxed pace of EVE means that I've simply been able to arrange my UI to my liking and it works OK. Not saying that my experience is the same for everyone and that this isn't a great idea ofc. .

I don't think that someone's just going to leave their corporation to join a new one. If people show interest, then maybe we could work something out. Any donations are welcome, maybe we can create an event to raise awareness of disabled gamers and offer ISK prizes. I also think that if we could get some press (i,e: EVENews24, New Eden Update, etc...) we could get some more awareness. One thing I'd love to do is organize a CSM town hall centered around letting disabled players talk with CSM members and vise versa. Message me or respond with your thoughts and ideas. Will help people relate just in playstyle alone? also if someone is having difficulty playing eve due to a disability, the ability to ask someone else who has the same or similar affliction how they cope, and maybe being able to make some adjustments based on that and others info will make that players life in eve more enjoyable. And you are less likly to be trolled or abused for asking for help. It would also make it so that anyone who wants to be an a-hole can be easily delt with with a kick form channel. Best of luck, this like the bestofus, broadcast4reps, and other communities and aid programs in eve are great. OMG Comet Mining idea!!! Comet Mining! Knowing her other visually impaired friends, the community she is a part of and the support they bring to each other, I know this will bring positive experiences to those who join. Let me know if there's any support you need. Also I have an Ideas and Features post about bringing voice over accessibility to EVE to expand its community to those who are interested. I'd appreciate it if you could support the idea and show CCP that this is a feature they should seriously consider.

When a disabled members corp has a hard time, this will feed negative stereotypes and incite major trolling. I've personally encouraged Devs to make certain interface concessions towards color blind players, such as using different symbols rather than colors to define interface relationships. But playing legally or totally blind, I wouldn't even know how to start keeping the game fun and playable without a friend to act as an interface. My choice of pronouns is based on your avatar. Even if I know what is behind the avatar.

I have no real intention to leave my corp/alliance at this time. If I did make a corporation, it would be disabled friendly. True, but this could be said about any ethnicity/religion/community/etc. Just like [enter race here] can take offense, ignore or laugh at jokes made about them, the same can be said about disabled as well. That's why I'm trying to get CCP to make a screen reader interface for EVE(see above). That would allow blind players to play without a friend much like a MUSH/MUD. Some legally blind are only visually impaired but can still see with larger text or things like the Windows zoom accessibility feature.

I agree with your sentiment, but, in my case my hearing is, well, not terrific, thus making joining many corps and ad hoc pvp gangs using teamspeak problematic.
