But I don't really see a problem with his self-destructing. If you can't kill him before his self-destruct timer wears down, then using it to deny you the fruits of victory is, to me, a perfectly valid tool of war. In the old days, crops would be burned and livestock slaughtered before the land was overrun by invaders. Self-destruction is the Eve equivalent. If he had logged to avoid you, if he had used some other borderline exploit I'm not aware of, I'd be right there with you. But self-destruct has a timer for a reason. If it was an instant process, it would be an exploit. As it is, it's in-game for a reason, and that's the reason. _ Do Unto Others.

Secondly, you are pretty naive to expect someone to just hand over any of their equipment to their enemies if they have a way to avoid it (especially a legitimate tactic like self-destruct).

So of course I go for megathron start digging in while trying to get my afk m8 back. He comes back and find himself cycled jammed. I was tanking them for a prolonged period and couldnÆt do much do to the jamming damp combo so I could not lock back. Realizing that the damage is so poor I decided to self destruct as am not letting a killmail fall away needlessly. Also for you to talk about honour is quite ironic for the duration of a diewh contact you saw fit to stay docked with you corp m8s and had no willingness to fight. If i know its hopeless i WILL self destruct my ship to prevent the enemies from getting any loot, i will also eject prior to destruction to use that time to safely escape in my pod. I'f i'm going to eject to ensure i have time to escape why on earth would i leave my ship there to be comandered by the enemy? Simple, i would not.
