Originally by: Gil Intrel Ok...these are my questions, 1) What are skill books, where can I get them (as in loot), what would be the price range for one, are they permanent skill boosts. 2) Ship guns: What types are there, do they need special ammo, which ones are good and for what ship(s)? 3) How exactly does pirating work (PVP pirating), like trapping a ship, what EW devices are used and for what purposes, what guns are used by pirates, what ships do they use, how do I find them and hunt them for game? 4) Are there any ports more populated than others (like capitol ports for trade, etc.)? 5) Where should I look for NPC pirates to loot? 6) How do I make skill advances other than AFK grinding(I heard there are levels)? Thanks.
1. skill books aren't looted. you can buy them off the market. usually you can find a station that has most everything you need for skills (it's seeded by NPCs so they are always the same price and never run out.) 2. Gallente and Caldari use hybrid turrets which require hybrid ammo. Caldari use missiles as well. Amarr use lasers, which don't require ammo but require focusing crystals. Minmatar use projectiles, which use projectile ammo. 3. Pirating exists in low security space mostly. EW mods commonly used are warp disruptors (to prevent people from warping away) webifiers (to slow them down a whole lot so you can hit them better and they can't run away), and sensor jammers/dampeners to prevent them from locking you or make it hard for them to lock you. 4. There are main "hubs" which are generally only a few jumps from where your character starts. There's at least one per race's region. Jita, for example, is the Caldari hub and the most populated system day in and day out in EVE. 5. Look in asteroid belts for npc pirates. The lower the security system, the harder they are to kill and the more you collect for their bounties. Lower than .5 security space is very dangerous, however, because of player pirates. 6. There's no way to improve your character skill-wise other than training skills. What you can control, however, is your character's starting attributes. Your character will train skills faster or slower based on your attributes(each skill has a primary/secondary associated attribute.) The more you play EVE, the more money you can potentially make, which will let you buy implants that increase your starting attributes. Also, training the Learning category skills raises your attributes. You should get all of the basic learnings to level 3 early on to help speed things up. Hope that helps.
I thought since this game is called Eve that I'd play a female character. Is that a good enough excuse for a guy? |
