Personally I like to catnap while I am mining, so I really dont' want any further distractions other than the occasional pirates. I mean I can mine for a while, nap for a couple of minutes, move the ore out of my hold into a container, nap a few minutes more while the lasers work, then move the ore. It really is pretty relaxing, and the sound of the lasers puts me right to sleep.

Smart. Ass.
Funny though.
On a different note:
The whole thing that kills me is (for the most part) the replies here have nothing to do with the OP, and all to do with punishing miners for not wanting to go 'pew pew'.
I got an idea, why don't YOU GUYS all go play wow (something you seem to be fond of telling other folks) and have them change that game to your tastes, instead of punishing someone who invested a lot more sp to fly his ship than you do yours because he doesn't suit your 'vision' of Eve. ---------

Your right. As one guy said, if CCP wanted them gone or mitigated it would happen, therefore... The same guy said losing Macros would be bad for the minerals market. That may be true or not, but it would sort itself out soon enough, and then it would be truly a player driven market. If I play a MMO it would be NICE to play it with people and not some programs run buy an <insert favorite eastern culture here> sweatshop. Doubt it will happen though, they are here to stay and will constantly morph into increasingly effective programs. Empire Ice market is cornered by them now, what's next? |

errrrm no...
when I mine in low sec/0.0, I keep my eyes on local, I DONT want to be focused on mini games...
trust me.. you NEED to be on local unless you got a fleet of 12 ships guarding you...
------
as for the macro thing..yeah, if they get removed...I(and the few miners left) will be uber rich at the expense of eve as a whole...
think about it, less supply, cost of ships increases, expensive ships = ppl less wanting to lose them, ppl not wanting to lose ships = less pvp.
but yeah, of course you are bored if you mine in high sec =P

Edited by: flaming phantom on 21/12/2006 05:22:26 ok i got the minigame, what it is at a belt becasue of zero gravity all the roids get ulled to you ship becasue of your weight (i know ude need a reeeally heave ship-capital size) but in physics its possible. you have to mine all the ore beofre they get to you or it pops out of your screen and pummels you in the face
no but honesty leave it as it is. if you guys have ever heard of a game called runescape i quit that game soley becasue of 2 main reason. 1. the community sucked, every1 was little immature kids that were always trying to scam you or steal your acount 2. there were random events that happened ANYTINE and i bleepin hated the with a passion ad i made tons of post about specific ones that i wanted to hang myslef over. thing is i mined in that game and it just ruined it for me. i am a miner and i like sitting back and just watching the pretty colors.
and as for the random events it was becasue of macroers and i realized it but i would rather had have the inflation in market instead of all those damned npcs buggin me.
keep it as it is
whats up with macroers anyway?!!? they are the most lazy people onthe planet-end of discussion. they hace computers playing thier video games for them, it dosn't get much lazier than that
isnt runescape kind of like a gateway game just like pot is a gateway drug? think about it, you start on the light stuff and then move onto the hard core krap. thats what i did and im pretty sure tons of you have done that too. of cousre theres always the ones that just jum pstaright to the strong stuff :-)

i have an idea how to make it more exciting:
have a mining mode - when this is on - a timer starts - if u dont collect x units of veldspar in 10mins your ship explodes, if do succeed to collect x veldspar in 10 mins the timer then resets so u only have 5 mins, and then 1 min and well your ship is going to blow up isnt it.
not very profitable but fun

In other words, you want to basically mine AFK and would prefer if the ore walked itself into your cargo hold.
The simplistic mining system that exists ATM is boring and stupid IMO.
When you introduce the same 'mini games' to make sure your combat laser, your shield booster and so on works at 100% effeciceny then ill agree that we need a change to mining. Until then i say lets see what happens if CCP introduce moving astoroid belts and so on (exploration).

If and when subsystems targetting is introduced ingame, then perhaps some random event occuring while mining would be logical i.e. you have to do 'something' to retain the structural integrity of the rock you're stripping and if you fail then the rock breaks apart, you lose lock and the roid is no longer mineable... or something. Seems kind of like a useless idea tbh, just extra frills. When I do mine i'm not looking for a titilating experience, i just want my ore in my cargo. However, i could see some logic to making mining ores like ark and bistot, etc. harder if they weren't already inherently harder to mine by virtue of their volume per unit. Mining honestly doesn't need to be more profitable. If you ever spend your days strip mining arkonor you'd understand how much isk can be made.
