I have Marketing, Daytrading, Procurement.
How do I buy an Item and sell it remotely? In the market window, I have the place I want to sell to as STATION as range, but I can't see how to do it?
Can anyone give a pointer to a n00b?
Thanks.

Edited by: Safaomae on 21/12/2006 19:54:17 Edited by: Safaomae on 21/12/2006 19:51:57 this is really confusing, there are too many skills in trading with similar descriptions. I have a few skills books somewhere that I have the intention of training, let me go see if I cant remember what they all do...
right, buying an order remotely needs no skill, if it's an item that's just on the market. but if you want to place a buy order for an item/price of your choosing you need: (I expect you already know this)
placing a buy order remotely needs procurement placing a buy order remotely, with range (ie solar system, region etc) needs procurement + visibility placing a sell order remotely needs marketing, but I think you cant place a sell order with range. (as to buy at range you need the skills previously mentioned)
daytrading just lets you modify remote buy/sell orders.
I think this may have just confused me, and probably you further, sorry
you can buy something off the market normally, then with the marketing skill, you can just sell it again by finding it in your assets thingie.

Thanks for the info, actually I've VERY confused.
What I want to do, is buy an Item Low and turn around and Sell it High.
How?
That's where the confusion comes in, I figured I'd be able to do this with the skills I currently have, but I can't see how to do it.

well, if you want to sell the item, (that is listed on the market) in the same station you bought it in, but at a higher price...
buy the item as per usual through the market (needs no skill). note the difference between placing buy orders, and buying directly. you'd need procurement + visibility to place an order, but no extra skills to just buy an item from the market.
then open your assets and sell the item, (once it appears there). selling remotely needs marketing.
BUT as I said, you dont set a range for selling items.
I think that might have been vaguely what you're asking? (take into account I have none of these skills so may be wrong )

Maybe it would be a good idea to make sure you're trying to do what we think you're trying to do.
If I understand things, you're trying purchase an item at a remote station and put it back up for sale at the same station (with a higher price). I'm also assuming that the item(s) you wish to purchase are currently for sale.
To do this, you open up the market for the item. Right click on the sell order you wish to buy from and but from that order. At this point, the item(s) are delivered to your hangar on that station. You can find the goods in your assets and right click and sell the items.
Does this help?

Edited by: Kerushi on 22/12/2006 00:40:25 to keep it to a few words:
remote selling skill: Marketing
lvl1: allows to sell items in the same solar system but in a different station lvl2: remote sell items up to 5 jumps away from ur current location lvl3: additional +5 jumps remote selling range
max range (lvl5) is the entire region, u will never be able to sell beyond a region border even if ur in the next door system
edit: to sell the items, open up the assets window look for the item u just bought right click the item and select "sell" as u normally would
if in skill range, it will popup the normal sell window, if not, u`ll get an error popup saying u can`t

Actually it's System, 5, 10, 20, Region. It's not +5 past level 2 but rather double what you have currently.
20 jumps is enough to cover most regions so rank V really isn't something you need to train unless it's for a prereq on another skill.
To the OP.
What marketing does is allow you to open up your assets window and right click on any item with in range and use the sell option just as though it was physically present at the station you're at. Through the sell option you can either create a sell order for the item or sell it to anyone with an active buy order covering the area the item is located at.
Daytrading allows you to modify any active buy or sell order you have within range of the skill. This means that if I'm at station A and have an active order at station B, then I can remotely modify that order with out having to physically travel to station B.
Procurement I really have no clue on how to use. I don't have the skill as of yet so I'm not familiar with the interface.
With all the trading skills it's helpful to keep in mind the difference between selling something and a sell order as well as the difference between buying something, and a buy order.
A buy order is created when someone presses the 'place buy order' button on the item details screen. Buying something is clicking on someone elses sell order and clicking buy.
A sell order is created when someone right clicks an item they own, goes down to sell, and then hits the advanced button on the sell pop up window. The advanced button lets you create the actual sell order. What the sell button does is actually fulfill someone elses buy order.
Hope that helps.
