So I am trying to sort out some stuff regarding pve. So some have no restrictions in what ship you can have, while others do..
I'm just wondering what the "full list" is, for those pve things that have restrictions and then those that do not. So far, I am aware that missions sometimes restrict what ship class you can use, but what about other things, like... 1. Anomalies 2. Ded complex 3. Other pve things, etc.
I feel it would be helpful to know, since it would let me know the limitations that are present within the game mechanics of pve activities.
Thank you. |

That is a substantially larger question than i think you realise.

Seconding what Ralph said.
Frigates can generally go anywhere and everywhere. But they can't run all Anomalies, DED complexes, or other places.
Beyond this... things get dicy. What exactly are you focusing on? Just free-range places you see on scan? Places you find via probes? Faction Warfare? Low-sec?
The problem is that the list changes which each thing.
Also... I am going to go out on a limb and say that "PvE sites" are not immune to interference from other players. Hell, you can even be killed by players in such places (or anywhere in general) if you are not careful. So be very careful when you emphasize "PvE stuff." There no such thing as "pure PvE" in EVE.

As far as for missions, the agent will give a ship restrictions list within the mission briefing, or rather ships that are allowable from the list. If there isn't a link for the list, than it has no ship restrictions, no gate. Primarily anything gated has restrictions, while the rest do not. This is more an issue with lvl1 and lvl2 missions. For those it's generally frigate or cruiser. I think BS can go into most or all lvl3 missions. Then there is a ded list around somewhere, it's just mostly restrictive against t3 cruiser and BS I think at 4/10 and under.
I'm in it for the money

CCP usually want your ship class (frigate, cruiser, battleship) to match the class of PVE enemies you end up fighting.
With mission agents, it's somewhat simple: level 1 = frigate, level 2 = cruiser, level 3 = battlecruiser, level 4 = battleship. Only, not all missions are restricted, so you CAN bring a bigger ship to some of them. And, often, tech 2 ships can reach the performance level of a higher class (HAC's for example can approach the resistances and DPS of battleships), but these ships are still technically "cruisers" and are allowed in level 2 missions. Finally, not just for missions but all other content, we can usually google up the details of what NPC ships will be there, but as far as the name of the mission, encounter, or area, it's all over the place; you can't tell anything from the name.
The internet (Evelopedia, Eve Uni Wiki) has details about each PVE area if you look up its name, so that's what we do. One of the reasons why you have a web browser in-game, so you don't have to alt-tab to look up stuff. |

I know that eve isn't some mmorpg with dungeons or whatever..it's just that I am trying to find and do things that are "easily accessible" that needs little to no extra skills. For instance probing means I have to invest in time for that set of skills to get to ded complex sites when I can just do a regular anomaly that has no such restrictions. "Free range" as you say would mostly be what I am leaning towards. I want to do the things that any ship is allowed to do because if I come across something that says "we only allow Titans in here"...I can't go in because I don't have a Titan, do I?...... |

There's no real pve content designed for capitals. Don't worry about restrictions that much. You'll only run into issues bringing bigger stuff into lower level content usually, and level 5 missions can be run in carriers. DED sites have different sets of restrictions, and you'll want to look up the level of the site before running it. As for ded's versus anoms, anoms have awful payout and are barely worth doing.

This is not something that you need to worry about. There have not been many times that I have wanted to take a ship into something and not been allowed to due to ship restrictions. Typically they only keep out ships that you'd not want to fly in there anyway.
The only exception to this that I can think of is burner missions. However they are intended to be extremely difficult and have ship restrictions to keep you from making them easy mode.
Faction warfare I'm not familiar with but I've heard those sites have ship restrictions but I think that's more to create a space for small ship versus small ship and medium versus medium etc.... PvP. So those are just there so that you can pick the type of fight you are looking for essentially.
Again I doubt this is something that you will find to be a problem or even run into much if at all. I've been doing PvE in this game for over 6 years and it's not been an issue for me.
Every once in a while I'll read down the list of restricted ships in a mission briefing and be like who the hell would want to fly any of those in this mission anyway. |

anoms I don't think they have any restrictions as there isn't a gate
ded complexes, have some restrictions, would have to look them up to be sure though. I remember they changed a few to not allow t3 crusiers any more. I think this is the basic guideline. not sure if it also applies to t2/t3 ships. 1/10 Frigate 2/10 Destroyer 3/10 Cruiser 4/10 Battlecruiser 5/10 Battleship
3. Some missions have restrictions, although they seem pretty rare in general. Then again these days I pretty much only focus on lv4s so wouldn't really see a restriction in general. That said the burner missions are a pretty new thing and the frigate burners only allow frigs to enter. and the burner bases allow up to t1 bcs, but don't allow t3 cruisers. not sure if incursions have restrictions
lv5 missions allow all subcaps, but the gates don't allow caps, however many don't have gates so people will use carriers to run the sites.
if you want to consider FW as pve, which it kinda is there are restrictions on each size plex, novice only allows t1 frigates (which does include faction ships), small allows destroyers, medium is cruisers, and large anything can warp to.

Many aspects of PvE have ship restrictions and many do not, as others have noted the list is far to long to cover here. But fear not much of the information you seek can be found in the various sections of this web site. http://eve-survival.org/wikka.php?wakka=HomePage |
