Hi everybody,
I¦m skilling for an Assfrig at the moment, because I¦m pretty openminded towards every race and the skills for the frig and small weapons doesn¦t take so much time I want to ask you what Assfrig you would recommend me.
I want to use it for some Solo-PvP and as a little, mean funmachine . My skills are pretty good for Armor and Schieldtanking, I have also pretty good Missileskills but I would prefer it to improve my Gunneryskills.
Thanks a lot for your help

ishkur: nos+drones retri: pulses(scorch)+tank jaguar: passive shieldtank harpy: pod sniper
there are others that are good of course but I like these... just about all the AFs hae a purpose, with the exception of the vengeance perhaps...

Sounds like the caldari ones may be a good choice for you. You could use your missile skills on the hawk and then when your turrets skills improve you can use the Harpy.

Thanks for your replies,
the Harpy is my first choice until yet, but I don¦t like Caladariships because almost everybody fly them. But it matches my skills, hmm hard choice, but I guess there is no totally wrong solution.

enyo/wolf/beam retri (yes beam) for gang firepower support.
ishkur for dronage.
jaguar for solo pwnage
vengeance for heavy tackling
harpy/hawk for anti-support -------

even with good missile skills and bad gunnery I'd prefer Harpy over Hawk... Keep in mind caldari ships don't really solo well - they are too slow and rarely do enough damage... are you a solo pilot?

I want to use the Assfrig for Solo-PvP, yes.
I have an eye at the Minmatar- Frigs(I like it fast), so they are the best Assfrigs for some Solo-PvP? If yes, can you give me some Recommendation for the fitting, that would be very nice

Well, if you dont want to fly Caldari ships, you can easily switch to Gallente, seeing as Gallente and Caldari ships use the same turret type. Besides, Enyo, like alot of other gall ships, has a launcher slot wich can be utilized to add even more to its allready awesome damage output.
Now the Ishkur requires more skill training than just guns and tank, but is well worth it. It can pretty much eat any other AF alive with t2 drones, has good PG and CPU to run a full nos+mwd setup, and can still pack 3 guns if you'd like it to. -----

AF's were NEVER good for solo PvP, except the Ishkur. Now? You're better off with a destroyer.

Yeah, my skills are pretty mixed, because as I started this character I flew Caldari but now I go for Gallente at least for the bigger ships like BC,BS.... Since I have widespread Basicskills I want to choose the best Assfrig and hear some opinions, but as always in EVE there is no ultimate solution, that¦s one reason why I love this game

I wouldn't recommend flying AF at all. Because of very low damage and very slow speed (because of high mass compare to a simple frig)
Go for thorax (much cheaper to buy), fit it with med blasters, 800mm plate and *****any AF any time !

yeah couldn't agree more. well i am a personal fan of the ishkur as it usually pwns all other af's and many cruisers in game and packs of them are evil. but recently the jag has become the serious solo af i believe (not flown it myself tho).
ishkur works so well because u can stay at range of ur target and pepper it up with a good array of drones then close in with blasters to finish it off. sweet ship

Ok, thanks for all the advices.
Now I stand between a jag or an Ish, but I think I will prefer the Ish, because the skills match to the skills I already have and I like the idea of a little dronefrig.

I used to Solo 1.5m ISK Gurista ravens with a Pulse Retribution.
Great way to make quick money and +ive security, without worrying about Ammo or getting hit.
Im a big fan of blaster enyos, but unless you're all PVE, don't take an Assault frigate into PVP unless you're in a gang, at the very least it makes a good soul partner of a tackler in an Interceptor :)

So far my favorite solo kill was with my ishkur.
Took out a 1600mm plate rax, you know the one with firggie blasters? Yeah Filled the highs with nos, mwd, and light tank (SAR II, exp hardener and EANM II) I managed to have him drained so he had to either web or fire shot his drones out of the sky too.
Vrrm vrrm ishkur! To bad your ammo can be killed (also works best if you have t2 lights, or 3 meds 2 lights at max skills, (hammerheads or valks + hobknobs or warriors = pwn) |

It all depends on skills, but I'd say go for the Harpy. Don't listend to all those guys about Caldari Anti-solo. It ain't true. My harpy is my most use ship and I've killed at least everyone single other AF successfully. Only died once to a Wolf. --- http://www.freewebs.com/brodieslife/Gin%20Rummy%20Boondocks.jpg |

Edited by: Veras Mendacity on 23/12/2006 18:54:35 As long as we're discussing AFs, can I ask forum members to glance at the loadout I've created for my first Hawk? Not a lot of Tech II, but that's of necessity.
H: 4x Missile Launchers (TE-2100 and Limos), Salvager. M: Cold-Gas AB, Clarity Shield Booster, Shield Boost Amp, EM resist II. L: 2x OD (33 m/sec)
Edit: I'm using this to go into a Serpentis drug complex for the first time.

Talking about the Iskhur i myself don't believe it is a good choice. If your target has an ounce of a brain, he will take down your drones first which will leave you with a rather crappy damage output.

i like the enyo and wolf very much.. but as i only can fly enyo ill give u my setup for that ship :)
4 x light ion II 1 x nos web scram 200mm II plate small repper II 1 energized reactive II and reactive plating II(if u go for a bit lone wolf) i would prefer tanking of ur in gang just 1 MFS II and a reactive plating :)

Overdrives have a nasty agility penalty. You're beter off with nanofibers or inertial stabilizers.
If you're heading into a Serpentis complex, the EM hardener won't be of much use as Serpentis deal thermal/kinetic. ---- I accept that this post reflects upon my corp, even if I claim it does not. |

Harpy is most flexible tbh. It excells at long range, and is the only frig that can use close range weapons outside of web/cheap med nos range.

Check again. CCP removed the agility penalty on overdrives in a recent patch. You get more speed on overdrives for loss of cargo. Nanos give you a speed increase, but not as much and an increase in agility, for a loss in structure hitpoints.

Edited by: Seraphim Reborn on 24/12/2006 04:16:04 I love my Harpy. I had a Hawk, as all my skills were for missiles but started training up gunnery for the Rokh 2 months ago. I have to say that even at a moderate level of gun skills, the Harpy is far better for PvP. I don't have the skills for T2 guns, but here is my set up
Highs: 4x 125 Prototypes 1 small diminishing NOS (in a gang I dump the Nos for a Arby launcher)
Meds: 1 Small Shield Booster II 1 x5 Webber 1 7500m scrambler 1 em screen
Lows: 1 Mag Stab II 1 DC II
I sometimes replace the webber for an AB, depending on the situation. Playing since May 2006, and I am still a "!" |
