Which is the better ammunition? EMP does 1 more dmg overall, but the type of damage phased plasma does is resisted less by armor and shields overall

um, AM is hybrid... emp and phased plasma are projectile
in either case... look at your own ships shields and armor resistances, and the damages on the different ammo types... its pretty easy to figure out which is better

emp and phased plasma are in general equally good both in terms of damage against shields and against armor (combined damage of all types). fusion is only a little better against armor, but much worse against shields. soltys.neostada.pl/eve.htm for (purely theoretical) details. ----------------------------------------------------------

well i just use 3 x 425mm autocannons, 2 x loaded with ti-sabot (nice and ols school) and 1 x with emp, no need to swap ammo then, ti-sabot rips apart fast enough for me

Fusion is slightly better than Plasma for long range, because of the range penalty.

Against shields, EMP and Phased plasma fares about the same. EMP projectiles only do half of their damage as actual EMP, and the rest is mostly explosive with a token ammount of kinetic, not good against shields but good against armor. Overall result is that EMP actually is only as good at shield and armor penertrations as any hybrid charge. Phased Plasma is 80% thermal and 20% kinetic. But what that really means is that overall it does 76% of it's listed damage against shields and usually 67% against armor.
Where things get interesting is when you condiser the resistances of the target you are fighting. Vs. armor on each empire's ship there are some interesting differences in damage. Assuming for a moment a small projectile fired at a 1.0 multiplier, EMP does an average of 6.6 vs. Minmatar armor, 7.1 vs, Gallente, 6.9 vs. Caldari, and 6.7 vs Amarr armor. Phased plasma does 6.7 vs Minmatar and Amarr armor, 5.9 vs Gallente armor, and 6.5 vs Caldari. Against Gallente and Caldari models, you probably want to use EMP. Against anybody else, I'm not convinced there is enough of a difference to matter.
Does that help?

I fly a combat ready Rifter. 3 number 250mm auto cannons using Photon , Titanium Sabot, Fussion rounds. 1 number M12 missile launcher with either Sabertooth missiles or Gremlins . I use the EMP rockets or Sabertooths to take down the shields of one ship while I use the ships guns to kill another. By the time I am done shooting my 3 guns at one ship the other is half dead. Just switch weapons round and fire guns at half dead ship, while targeting and shooting missiles at the next unfortunate sole.
Works well for me at present but looking to tweek some more now I have found some new toye to play with. Kiran-" Damn where did that pirate go?" Martican (co-pilot)-" He went behind those two big pink asteroids." Kiran-"Will you stop taking the **** out of my fury dice?" |

I stated out all Medium Proj Ammo yesterday to see what the best combination was. I narrowed it down to Plasma and EMP. Looking at my own ship's resistances (Minmatar Rupture) I figured the total damage of EMP against shields was 15.6 and vs armor 13.2. Plasma was not much different: Vs shields 15.2 and vs. armor 13.4. The deciding factor: EMP was half the cost of Plasma.
