Awesome Beta! Appreciate the time and effort going in to do this.
- Doesn't save the account user names - Clicking on the "Username" drop down causes the launcher to hang or become unresponsive for a min or two.

Is there going to be an option to move the cache/settings folders? I don't like them on my C drive and would rather have them on my RAID array.

Not the Shared Cache, I mean the AppData folders.

My games are on a 1TB partition not C, including EvE. Moving the users folder is a pita.

Annexe wrote:I was able to successfully install the new launcher, and it looks great (still missing EVE time ;) )
However, when I launched the game.. all the client settings were reset. So I launched with old launcher.. original settings still there.
Looking at the directories.. original Eve launcher/client is located in; C:/Program Files (x86)/Steam/steamapps/common/eve online
(I installed the new launcher to the same directory as original launcher, just created a new folder called "New_Launcher")
however the new launcher is opening from the directory; F:/Eve Online/prime cache/tq
^^ "F:/Eve Online/prime cache" is where I keep all the resource files
Any idea why the new launcher is opening from a new client directory I didn't even know I had? And where can I copy my current client settings into new launcher/client so I don't have to redo everything?
Your character settings are in:

Go into the Folder for me is called d_eve_tranquility (Check the folder called settings you will know if this is the correct one because it will contain core_char_xxxxxx
Copy the folders Cache & Settings folders into X_eve_cache_TQ_87.237.38.200 (Removing the one currently stored in there)

I know where to find my current settings (saved them just in case), but not sure where to put them. I don't have any directory such as "tq_**.***.**.***" that has any settings files. And I don't remember there being a "tq" folder inside the cache folder. This folder contains the .exe file and the rest of those folders/files. But my original launcher is not linked to those client files. Bit confusing :/
This is my %localappdata%\CCP\eve

Moe Lesture wrote:^^^ THIS ENTIRE PAGE OF POSTS
Is there any reason why the new launcher cant store EVE settings under Documents (like logs, screenshots, overview & fittings) instead of buried deep in sub folders inside our AppData directory?
My Current location of eve files using the BETA launcher:
C:\Users\%username%AppData\Local\CCP\EVE\c_games_eve_online_sharedcache_tq_87.237.38.200\settings_1
My Current location of eve files using the current launcher:
C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\CCP\EVE\c_games_eve_online_tranquility_tranquility\settings
Default "pleb mode" installed EVE location:
C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\CCP\EVE\c_program_Files_(x86)_eve_online_tranquility\settings
Change the new launcher so these files are stored under:
C:\Users\%username%\Documents\EVE
What this accomplishes:
Just look at the posts above. Every time someone wants to backup their eve files, xfer their eve settings across multiple pc, duplicate character setups, xfer their window positions and hotkeys to SISI, I have to navigate them to the path above. Their eyes glaze over and they begin to drool. Plus consistency wise, why are my screenshots, chat logs, overview files, and fittings in a nice folder in my Documents, yet the most important files (core_char),(core_user) buried inside folders inside folders inside folders?
INB4 "multiple users" or "localization and name differences" arguments.
---
Also, new launcher should have shortcuts to screenshots, fittings, overview, and/or settings folder as a button built in.
+1 for this!!
I really want my settings permanently moved out of AppData too.

Moe Lesture wrote:1) Move the launcher Information from HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\CCP\EVEONLINE into a config file inside the launcher folder or under the Users EVE folder under Documents.
Reason being that eve if you delete EVERYTHING file wise, if you reinstall the launcher, it remembers the previous location of the "SharedCache". Moving it to a file inside the Users' documents also allows per Windows User settings to remain.
2) Move core_user and core_char files from the holy crap long appdata location to under the Users EVE folder under Documents.
Reason: Every day you have tons of posts on the forums, reddit, in corp chats, etc asking how to do something with the eve settings and its always a pain in the ass for us tech-savvy folk to explain how to even navigate to the files, let alone begin messing with them. Also would make backup up EVE easier.
3) Bring back some form of mobile / non-install (/END /LUA:OFF) functionality. I want to have a single folder called EVE that can be placed on a flash drive and contains my screenshots, overview YAML file, my fitting XMLs, my core_char and core_user files, and remembers all of my settings for the launcher.
Reason being 100% better user experiences all across the board for pretty much everyone (except the devs who have to recode it all, sorry ill buy you more pizzas). People can play at work without installing, take their install to a friend's house to show them EVE, quickly backup and restore their EVE files while testing things like NEW LAUNCHERS...
-- TLDR: Make the EVE folder contain all the EVE stuff, instead of using the registry, the EVE documents folder, the CCP Appdata folder, the other CCP appdata folder, etc. FLASH DRIVE EVE VERSION ALL FILES NEEDED 1 PLACE.
+1 from me again. Consolidation of EvE files would be a massive boon for everyone, tech-savvy and non-tech alike. Sure this is not just a launcher thing I'm sure, but please consider this CCP.

CCP Snorlax wrote:I agree that settings storage in EVE is a bit of a mess at the moment, but fixing that is beyond the scope of the new launcher. We do plan to add tools to the launcher to manage settings, however, and once my work on the launcher is done I hope to have some time to improve settings management overall.
Are you high on #CCPizza?? <3
Awesome, I really hope that you have the time or are given the additional time to fix this for us. Out of interest I just looked through my AppData/local folder and my current CCP folder is 1.94GB. This is the largest folder by far in there and since I use a SSD RAID array for my "windows installation" I would like that space back! Being able to move that data to my 6TB HDD RAID array would make me happy beyond belief <3

Darklord Avenger wrote:this taken from original launcher news ... This should result in fewer cases of failed patching. We no longer rely on HTTP 1.1 and ranged gets - files are simply downloaded as a whole. We are also planning on doing more diagnostics in the launcher to help identify connection issues. from http://community.eveonline.com/news/dev-blogs/testing-a-new-eve-launcher/
so I thought it said connection problems would be looked into. hmmmmmm
You clearly have little understanding of how a launcher or client works. All of your issues in your previous posts are down to your local network and ISP. I'd suggest doing traceroute, ping tests and a checking your DNS. All of these are nothing to do with CCP their launcher or client.
