Just wanted to share my knowledge whit those here interested. I got this clarification via e-mail from Mr. de Leon.
Well, now it's up to everyone him or herself if to buy it or not. You can also go for a TRI-PAY plan and aquire the ship by 3,4 or 6 monthly payments or discuss an other option.
If it's about me, I pre-ordered one and go to save the money up until December 2016 and decide then if to complete the purchase or not.

Interesting. Sadly, my personal cut-off point for models is at around 100$, so I'll wait until the price drops to that. |

You're dreaming buddy.
I work in hydraulics manufacture and I will tell you right now that a perfectly balanced 3d model accurate to minute detail with inlaid electronics and magnetics would cost the manufacturer a good $400-600 to make just in labour.
With that being said, an option to purchase via PLEX should be available, if it's not already present.

For much less money than that you can buy (through plex) a real Nyx, which can be useful to help your alliance, and does not take any space in your house. |

This is clearly (as with the rifter) not about real Iceland ISK. This was about letting fans get hold of models which has been problematic in the past. Also what is a super/titan worth if i use PLEX?

If I would have $1800 to spend on EVE things, I would rather buy this small metal rifter and with the rest I would buy books, posters and Caldari clothes. Many nice things rather than one.
Custom ship skins, character creator style "repaint". Bring it!

Well i mean, you know that you have HIGH customer demand because the NYX is beautiful.
Why not, make 2 other maybe smaller - less detail models to supply that demand. Then construct a few of those "grand" types for those who REALLY love EVE |

If that's a serious question: A fully fit super, will run you $450-$500 or so. A titan ~$1800-$2000 or so, depending on how blinged out you want it. Roughly another $350-$500 for a pilot for either. |

If 100 dollar is you limit, what is perfectly fine, you have a hard time as many models are over 100 dollar. Not only eve online but other brands and manufactures to.
There are always exceptions of course.
