I don't like that lottery system. That is baaaaaad news. Ideally, if you work hard enough for something you should get it. Unlike, ahem, people like myself that have done over 700+ missions and have yet to get a bp.
You devs and GM's hate it when we all send in petitions wondering where our bp is and why the agent system is bugged? Just wait and see how ornery we all get when we invest all our time and skill training into something that will NEVER pan out. That's right! Some of us will put off training combat/mining etc. skills for a series of rank 5 skills for a long time and NEVER so the fruits of our labors. Isn't that how lotteries work? Only a few win and many lose? Now put yourselves in the position of an average gamer that spent a good 3 months as a mission runner/researcher and came up with zip. There will be a lot of ****ed off players and that won't be good at all! Please come up with a different system other then a lottery, it just won't go over well. I suggest throwing in some more tough requirements which will need the aid of many people and a lot of time invested but can be realistically achieved if you put in the work.
As a researcher and a scientist in RL, a lottery of discovery makes no sense to me at all. Many times companies discover the same technology at the same time and they would like to apply this to their competing products. This is why we have patent lawyers people! A bp shouldn't be sent to a "chosen" company. If two companies that put a lot of time and effort in their "R&D fund" researching a specific invention then they should both get the bp vs. on small company with little R&D effort that gets lucky.
Sure, I admit luck permitting breakthroughs do happen from time to time. But you are placing waaaaaaay too much weight on that.
From what I understand, the more research points you build up the greater the chances of discovery. Put more weight behind these points instead of luck.

The lottery system is awesome. It's the best of both worlds. You can work hard for more chances at a BP yet there is still a level of randomness so that one mega corp doesn't just pool all the research points and get every BP that comes out. I can't see any other way being more fair. Bravo devs!
In the end the people with the most money are going to wind up with the BPs anyway. ----------------------------------------- Sig rented by Drethen Nerevitas. |

the lottery being done per person since the research itself is done per person per agent, guess what. The megacorps STILL have overwhelming advantage. This does not give "the small guy" any better chance at all, in fact it actually weights it more towards the corps with more people.

My concern is specific to agents.
I still hate agents, they manage to be more boring than mining. I think they kill the game. And the idea of doing thousands of missions not only gives me a heart attack, but also makes me wonder for how long Ill keep playing.
Overall, imho, agent missions need a complete re-design. _______________________________________________

I think the lottery is the best way to go. You have the same chance of being selected as someone in a larger corp if you have the same amount of research points as them. There is no inherent penalty towards people in smaller corps or freelancers.

this type of lottery system is lame... its so communistic... you should work hard and get something thats how it is... not just get randomly selected for doing nothing support Idea: QuickInfo an alternative to ShowInfo

Wish there was a way to get tech 2 apart from agents.
They are the most mind numbingly boring part of eve ever
And why is it that 20k years in the future i have to go to my agents station to do missions, dont they have mobile phones in this advanced world? Mercenary | The Azath |

Not true. Getting those agents in the first place takes alot of work.
