Also the question about signature radius VS explosion radius and ship velocity VS explosion velocity. MWD on: I got 5 times bigger signature radius on my inty but could go up to 7300+km/s. Any suggestions?

I would normally say off, but my taranis only goes about 3.1k/s at the moment. Do you mind me asking how you get it that fast? Expensive MWD I assume? --------------------------------------
Lets face it, people that use the word 'noob' are blatantly either 12 or with more friends on the internet than in real life! |

with that fast a ship just burn it unless you get webbed... It does depend o nhow fragile your ship is and if the oponent is a assault-caracal or torp-raven

If you are using most/all of the speed you get from the MWD (so not orbiting at actually half the max speed, but moving at nearly full speed), MWD can be better, but only against missiles that have a significantly smaller sig as your ship (with MWD on). That pretty much rules out MWD for torpedo/citadel defence, is questionable for cruise defence, but usually better for anti-heavy/assault defence... but then again, your speed should allow you to outrun the larger missiles altogether most of the time, so... MWD on, by all means. _ My skills | Mod/Rig stacknerfing explained |

There are two factors for missile damage. Your speed and your signature radius. Once you "beat" the natural abilities of the missile, the damage gets cut significantly. If you don't "beat" the missiles ability, then you do not take extra damage.
So, with your MWD on you will always take most (usually all) damage from missiles based on sig radius. However, if you are traveling 3.5 km/s, you are taking significantly less damage due to your velocity. So, yes, keep your MWD on. The giant ass benefit you receive from the speed reduces your damage a lot more then the minimal bonus from your sig radius. If you want proof use the missile damage calculator.

If you can go over 2km/s with it, use it. I flew 100km towards a Manticore with my Stabber with MWD on and speed of 3.5km/s. He was hitting me for 10 damage
It's good, use it when you go that fast :) ---

If you are orbiting the target, adn they are sitting still (effectively when you are at that speed) Transversal Velocity is 0, so guns hit really well.

Don't worry about missiles, worry about the lone smartbomb battleship with a bubble.

Unfortunately, that's not how EVE calculates transversal. Yes it makes sense real-world, but that's not how it works ingame.

everythign has it's counters... but still some ships are just too fast for fun gameplay, and those webs have to come withing 10km unless you are in a ship with bonus or got some very nice faction items... If you have the firepower you don't need to orbit - you can manually fly around and hammer the person with low transversal while still having high speed.

Ultimatly it depends on your speed Vs Explosion velocity of the missles involved.
3-5k/s is say leave if off. More than that, whack it on.
I havn't looked at precisions, you might need to be faster for light's.

It's a beam set-up with a 30km disruptor...orbit ******* outside web range maybe?...no that makes no sense at all...
Even if they got a web on you...with how fast hes cruising if he reacts fast enough his velocity will still be enough to carry him back outside web range where he'll just start go fasterthangreasedlightningkm/s...

Woah, easy there. I clearly asked what he would do if people did get webs on him, I didn't ask whether it was possible now did I? I'd be amazed if he could make it out if he was webbed to 1% of his original speed.

about webbing that crusader: go out and web someone, or better, have someone web you. see how very slowly you slow down (relatively). now imagine that very same crusader in that very unlikely situation of getting two 90% webbers on him (i mean really, what are the chances of that happening within about 2 secs - cos thats abouw how long it will take him to transverse 20kms* while slowing down from a webber) he will still slow down slowly enough to be carried out of web range.
* 20kms is the extreme, from one side of the ship to the other at extreme webbing ranges considering normal webs applu - i.e. huggins and rapiers excluded

I have an Ares that does 9529m/s indefinitely (Gistii A-Type MWD, 3 local hull inertias, 1 domination nanofiber, 2 speed rigs - +15% mwd speed boost and +10% base velocity).
When I orbit someone at 23km (within my scram range) I can orbit at around 8800m/s, trust me no missile will ever hurt you. Even rockets do 0.0 damage.
