I need to take some rolaids and sleep on it. Pretty sure its a terrible gaming decision. |

I also think it's a bad idea bu it will be interesting to see how this plays out.
Right now you can buy SP on the character bazaar for roughly 2 million SP/PLEX or you can train your own using multiple character training for roughly 1.5 million SP/PLEX. Will people pay a PLEX to get 400K SP - basically 8 days training instantly?
What impact will it have on the in-game price of PLEX - I can't imagine it going down?
Why bother setting goals in the game if you can simply buy achievements?
Are a lot of newer players who try to buy skill going to be disillusioned and quit when they discover that player skill is more important than character skill?
The comments thread for the devblog is now up to 73 pages and almost entirely negative. Hopefully CCP gets the message. |

On the flip side the game is full of people buying ships they don't know how to use after getting a bunch of plex from CCP and cashing it in for ISK. A two month old character hasn't really earned the right, if such a thing can be said even, to fly a battleship. What difference does it make to me if he bought the plex or the skill points? A bigger deal would be knowing -how- to use a ship rather than what skill levels you have in it.
Secondly, we already have buying characters wholesale. I don't really see the difference except that this gives people a great deal more control over what they're getting. I mean as is you're buying 'Random Indy Skill Grabbag #384' who has all these sweet refining and mining skills leveled, and for some reason a bunch of missile and gallente cruiser stuff. The proposed system would lead to "I need XYZ, which means I need # of skill bags to pour in to my skull for those".
Something to consider is that these SP aren't created out of a vacuum. Like the ISK in Plex transactions, the SP came from someone rather that CCP magicing it up from the void.
Give me a solid reason against this skill transfer plan that doesn't harpoon the idea of PLEX or Character Bazaar in the process. |

Buying skill points IS a harpoon to the character bazaar. It de-values a long time character, it de-values a focused character, and it eliminates the need to keep up a subscription in general. If I want to stop playing for six months, I don't have to pay the subscription to get skill benefits. All I have to do is buy a skill pac when I come back. It makes continuous skill training obsolete. It makes multiple accounts less effective, and less needed. It supports a gaming philosophy that is exactly opposite of 'long term commitment' , which is generally bad for the life span of a game. |

It depends on the pricing. The skill injection is only gonna be in 500k SP chunks, and that's if you're a low SP character. I think for my age it'd be about 300k SP or so? Or 200k? But still the same cost as the base injection where low SP people would get 500k. The point is it's more for catching up on a specific skill on a character. I heard someone say it might be useful for wealthy T3 pilots to replace lost skills easily. Either way, this mostly depends on the cost. I have no doubt that simple character Bazaar trading will allow you get get far more SP for the price. The trade off is the Bazaar you have no control over where the SP is spent or what the person's name is or anything like that.
If the skill injection stuff is cheap then maybe I could see your point there in it being a detriment to character trading.

I severely doubt that'd be the optimal way to do it. More likely than not it'd end up being cheaper to just sit in a +5 clone and plex yourself for that many months and set up a long skill queue, come back to the game later and see all those lovely skill complete messages.
I mean you -could- do it your way. But you could also plex tank an ibis. There's nothing saying your suggestion will be the cheapest method.

As stated, this really depends on the pricing of the skill packs. And I doubt, especially after skins, that it would be cheaper to skill pack your character than just normal training. Especially considering those SP have to come from someone else who probably doesn't want to take a loss on those SP they spent time or money keeping subbed.

Pretty much useless in my case ( 262 million SP and rising ).....
Would have to buy a metric ton of skill packs to even make a dent at this point..... 20 per million sp ad I get only 50K per pack.... |

On the flip side, you could liquidate a few million SP that are in **** you believe you will -never- use again. Might be interesting if there are a lot of old timers who come in and flood the market to hell with several hundred million SP of old **** they'll never use.
And the tears a year down the line when such skills are suddenly needed for the new FoTM. |

Intend to take this char to the little over 300 skills that are somehow ship related, to lvl 5....:)
225 skills are done and there's roughly 75 to go, or about 2 1/2 years left at which point the char will be at 330+ million skill points.
So it will have taken 15 years or so, but i'll truly hit the SP wall in any thing that relates to ships, from the smallest to the largest and regardless of race or role or the type of weapon it uses.
Tick tock CCP, the road behind me is already far larger ( 12.5 years and counting ), than what's left ahead of me....

Careful, they're adding in t2 cap guns. I have a feeling that'll increase your training time a fair bit |

Cool, I got all the gunnery tree completely maxed out, including all the capital guns, so I can plug in the skills right away......Only thing that isn't is the Doomsday skill which is still at lvl 4, but that only matters if you don't mind flying a coffin.....:P |
