This made me giggle.
Mainly because, I have 3 clients open and as they are in Window mode across my monitors, I can easily see Eve time on the left and local time (via Windows) on the right.
I saw someone raging in Help channel re the inability to switch the clock from "Eve" time.
I must be one of the rare breed that has a mobile phone on my desk / ability to alt tab to desktop / big arse clock on the wall / wrist watch... (all of the above of course assuming that Eve wasn't ever in Window mode.

yea it's more of a visual ease thing, in-one-spot kind of deal. I would have it optional, so one default clock, with ability to add the second or third clock, maybe even colorize it.
It's a small thing, that unfortunately will probably be very low priority as I imagine they have a lot on their plates; just thought I'd put it out there.
edit: and some people like me are using only one screen with the phone being occupado checking out some hot videos of ccp seagull. |

Supported.. I am pretty bad at knowing Eve time from local time. However, I just figured out that it's 5'hours ahead, but daylight savings change is coming soon, and I don't know if that is going to jack me up again. |

-1 For Windows, Mac and Linux there are multiple clock options that can and do display multiple time zones on your task bar. Multiple monitors are no needed for this since you will always have a task bar. If your task bar is not visible them change the game mode you are playing in.
Looking ahead to that day - someday in the future when there is nothing else in EvE that needs to be fixed or adjusted then I would be OK with the devs working on this.
This works for Windows 7, 8 and 10 and nothing else is needed. http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/24672/beginner-geek-view-different-time-zones-in-the-windows-7-tray-clock/
http://www.howtogeek.com/216018/how-to-view-multiple-time-zones-on-the-system-tray-clock-in-windows-8.1/
Here is one for the MAC users. https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4018238?start=0&tstart=0
And one that wil work for Linux, at least I hope I have no way to test it. http://www.addictivetips.com/ubuntu-linux-tips/how-to-display-time-from-multiple-cities-in-ubuntu/ |

um yea I am aware of the desktop clock thing, but the point is to reduce the amount of alt tabbing I have to do, and there is no way I am going to play in "windowed" mode with my windows taskbar always being visible. It's a bit more ergonomic to be able to just glance at the clock in game for both timezones, or at least a mouse-over tooltip.
I'm not asking for solutions that people already use (we all have our phones next to us and such), I'm just suggesting a tiny wouldn't-it-be-nice-if feature. |

Agreed, while you are at it, -1 to other operating systems than windows, -1 to other brand of cars and heck why have any options at all, -1 world.
P.S: It's those little options that can make a game great. Always +1 for idea's like the OP, which aren't hard to implement.
Been around since the beginning.

For Windows systems set your client to run in "Windows" mode, in Windows turn off the auto hide task bar function. Instantly you have both game time AND local time displayed. Benefit here is that you can run programs that display all manor of information in the windows task bar. Another really nice feature of this method is that it eliminates that dreaded Alt + Tab thingy you simply point and click.
I do not have a MAC or a LINUX computer to test this on so I cannot give you specific instructions on how it is done but corp mates that use both systems tell me that the same thing is possible within those operating systems.
I am not against changes to the client that make thing easier for you IF they are not easily done with what you already have installed in your computer. I am against the endless stream of ideas that produce code bloat simply because you do not want to use, you are not willing to use, or because you are to lazy to use options that are already available to you. |

No need to be so contentious and condescending, I understood what you meant. It's just a ******* clock. It just isn't a comfortable option, do not want the task bar to pop up on accident.
Code bloat is a non-issue, do you consider new content code bloat?
It's not about laziness. We alt-tab for other reasons, whats wrong with shaving off one more thing to alt-tab for.
What's wrong with having local time in the mouse-over tool tip that already exists? It shows the date, nothing wrong with adding local time and date. oh man such code bloat. Pls no more expansion ccp we don't want code bloat stahhp noooo.. we couldn't possibly handle another megabit! ahhhh
**** your windowed autohide taskbar **** bruh. Aesthetics and QoL in design is a thing.
Besides I hate having taskbar on autohide in general, what am I going to do, switch it on and off? Windowed mode fucks with my fps.
New player logs in, happens to mouse over the time, bam see the tool-tip and goes, ah so that's the time difference.
It's a really minor thing where the most elegant solution IS code.

+1, but very low priority
For posting an idea into F&I:
come up with idea, try and think how people could abuse this, try to fix your idea - loop the process until you can't see how it could be abused, then post to the forums to let us figure out how to abuse it.....
If your idea can be abused, it WILL be.

Turning off the auto hide feature and your task bar is ALWAYS displayed and Windows adjusts the Window size of your program to account for it. Thus it is not possible for you to have a task bar that pops up when you do not want it.

I am glad that you live in an area where the additional download times are not a problem, however that is not the case for all of us. But to answer your question no I do not mind the additional D/L time for features or content that actually add something to the game play for all of us. What I am against is the code bloat that would be caused by the endless stream of features that very few of us need, want or would use. Things like extra clocks that you can do for yourself right now, and video recording / editing features that many of us will never use, built in spreadsheets, built in mini-word processors are just a few I have seen requested. If CCP gives you your idea what right do they have to ignore or refuse all of the rest of these features since they are valid to the people who request them.
Minoo Raholan wrote:It's not about laziness. We alt-tab for other reasons, whats wrong with shaving off one more thing to alt-tab for. Sorry dude but it is about being lazy. I gave you very specific instructions on how to set this up using the EvE client as is and standard features in the Windows that is already on your computer if you use Windows. Yet you know so little about Windows that you still think your task bar will "Accidentally" pop up when in fact it will be permanently displayed so popping up is not even possible. And despite the fact that your task bar and therefore your clock will be permanently displayed you still think you will have to alt+tab to see it.
Minoo Raholan wrote:Besides I hate having taskbar on autohide in general, what am I going to do, switch it on and off? Windowed mode fucks with my fps. Well then your computer must really stink because my 6 year old desktop handles the Windowed set up I described with graphic settings at close to maximum and still generates more than 30 FPS in most circumstances and rarely drops below 25 FPS at worst. If your FPS is worse than these then all I can suggest is get a better computer you will need it sooner or later as CCP continues to step up the complexity of the graphics. |

Yes but Windoze only allows for 3 different clocks, so I say +1 on this one, doesn't have to be right away but when you live in EU timezone and want to see when your buddies from CET timezone come back from school or work or
Or you want to do an op that is supposed to harbor the most convenient times you get all your buddies on or you want to keep an eye on younger paddawans that need a little more rest on a school night, so you poke them to get an appropiate amount of time to sleep during the school week. During an op it's difficult to keep track of the Windoze clocks at all times, better have it in the lower left.

I'd highly recommend using an OSD program like RivaTuner which can show your system clock, along with various other obvious reasons: to keep an eye on GPU and CPU data that also would otherwise likely require alt-tab to take a look at. Comes with Precision X and MSI Afterburner as well, again highly recommended for gamers in general. You can even customize the position of the OSD so it's right next to your NeoCom clock. Best of all, you don't have to change your screen settings in game and it's beneficial for other games as well for a host of reasons.
http://www.evga.com/precision/ (-1 because requires creating account and login to download)
http://gaming.msi.com/features/afterburner (click on "Downloads" tab to show downloads)
"Tomahawks?"
"----in' A, right?"
"Trouble is, those things cost like a million and a half each."
"----, you pay me half that and I'll hump in some c4 and blow the ---- out of it my own damn self."

even tho i use window mode and have the local time shows most of the time id still say +1 and i doubt this code bit would take more bandwidth to implement then ones negative comments about this idea .
but yea .. nohting to hurry about .. somewhere after citatels .. fitting screen .. new caps .. new content for more pew pew :) or whenever some coder needs a break from coding one of the main features ... |

You misunderstand, like I said, I don't want the task bar to always be visible with the game, taking up screen space. I would rather alt-tab and have full screen over having a task bar always visible, with 90% of that space being unused most of the time. It's like having the channel guide always visible on the bottom of your tv screen, why the **** would anyone want that? Windows 7 task bar isn't flush, because of the start button. Why should I, as the end user go through all that for a single clock? Why should more than one person have to do that for the one clock? One change from the dev side can benefit everyone. The mouse-over tool-tip already exists, it can be displayed there. If you click the clock, it pops up the calendar. I imagine they can add a "clocks" tab next to it. It just makes sense to have that world clocks tab considering the diverse time zones population. Some of us use time zones on desktop/phones for irl business purposes and such, personally I would rather keep eve's on eve.

I live in an area where it costs $100 per month to have download times not be a problem, so I couldn't give two ***** about the rest. It isn't something I or CCP could do anything about. If CCP gives us "my" idea, they still have every right to ignore or refuse other features, just like they can ignore mine. You don't speak for CCP. You should worry more about the forum bloat you cause instead of any code bloat.

Again with your assumptions. As I've already said, I already know how to do all that; it's about visual preference, ergonomics, etc etc. Honestly it's like you think I sit here alt tabbing every 2 minutes? I don't need the task bar often enough to warranty me using the task bar+windowed mode. The task bar isn't flush. We aren't all going to do things your way.

Hahaha fuckin troll. I get 60fps with no issues. Some people can just have issues with windowed mode with some programs, like I've already said, it's not about laziness. The task bar option just isn't viable for some people, for technical reason or visual preference. You can't say code bloat and download time on one hand, and then talk about complexity of graphics on the other you hypocrite. "Not the case for all of us" lol this fuckin guy. |
