Mirror, mirror on the wall...
Really, since there is no way of calculating the assets and wealth by public tax-records like in rl , it leaves us guessing how fat different persons/corps/alliances wallet is.
I remember seeing a guy putting up a pic of an incursus on his homepage after buying it, showing off what you can accuire after mining for a few weeks...then I see some officer loot going for sale on the trade channel for 15 bil (one piece of equipment)
So, who's the richest (que sarcastic bob remark *including* ccp conspiration theories in 3, 2, 1...) player, what's the average, is the isk concentrated to the T2 manufacturers as much as everyone is saying (cue BPO lottery whine in 3, 2, 1...), what's the percentage of those players?
Is there some way to get these figures public like in rl, like a forbes 500 or whatever? I think this would spawn some interesting discussion.

It claims that the GDP is 100mil per month per capita, although this was six months ago. If I were to guess I'd say 1-2 billion per active account.
I thought there once was a post about the richest people in EVE, kind of like the one about who has the most skills.

This is good, the only thing more interesting would be to see some figures regarding the disparity in wealth between accounts.

My guess is that just like real life, you've got 20% of the people in EVE owning 80% of the assets in EVE.

A lot of "average" players come and go over the months and years... unlike real life.. I'd say its even more pointed at the top, with an even small number controlling the big bucks, then again Alliances and corps play a large role too as a lot of wealth is pooled.

98% of the ISK is held by 2% of the playerbase. So at any given time there is an average of 200 Billionaires per 10k players logged in. Of course that figure is skewed when you figure that some billionaires are closer to trillionaire status than mere millionaire.

98-2 is a bit high, i would go for about 90-10

Hehe that would be a hell interesting thing, having this in eve. Ofc everyone should have the option to chose if he likes to be listed or not (check a box in the menue or something) - an isk highscore would not represent the assets people own though.

Right, like in rl it would steer much of both politics and market mechanics in different directions if we would be able to get some facts on the matter instead of guessing how much and who. This would be the meta-point of my post. Maybe someone with a keen sense to numbers and 'info-digging' would be able to present the tables. After that all we need is Che Guevara t-shirts and baskers I recon lol Really I think this unveiling could bring on a pretty drastic (regrouping and) change of attitudes on a subjective/indirect level in the galaxy.

2 billion to a new player would seem alot but to people like me i im just starting on a BS and will have lvl 4 soon. in order to see who is the richest see who has the most of something i like person who has the most T2 BPS would have an insane amount cash or his cash could be tied up in assets like most of my cash is

I am not sure how you can decide on the percentage of PLAYERS making over one billion isk. Unless, of course, you know how many characters each player has. If someone has three accts they will probably have quite a bit more isk than a person with only one. In many cases one of those accts may have much smaller assets than another. How much isk does a Hauler Alt really need??

At 9 months old I have about 4-5b in assets and play solo.. Really depends on what you do tbh. If you focus on combat it is hard to make a good fortune because you will be facing losses. A good tight corp with an economically minded ceo can easily make 10's of billions.
Eve is a bit of a false economy, as there is a lot of money flowing into the system from PVE, but it does follow capitalist economical laws, so expect concetration. Value differs greatly though, the 200m isk cereberus in empire probably only costs an alliance like BoB 25-30m to build, and they are so big they can actually influence the market price if they so wish. The most powerfull players are sitting on power, so they basically can do what they want as long as they are smart enough to keep player support. A bob war effort probably costs trillions, when you consider the cost of 100's of tech II battleships, a titan, a few motherships, carriers, dreads, respective officer fittings, fighters, fuel, etc etc. Similar prices for the other big alliances, minus goonswarm who do things on the cheap. So like in really life power > money.
I expect the avg player is worth under 500m, all assets considered.

lol me too. even tho u can make about 50mill a night in 0.0 (more if ur really into it/obsessed/no life }, at least for me what happens is that i train up for a new toy, then as soon as i have enough isk, i go blow it on that new shiny toy :P
the most my wallet ever hit was 350mill, i never have more than 10mill in assets apart from ships that i actually fly, and as soon as i hit that 350mill, i bought an abaddon + equipment, promptly lost it, and found myself considerably poorer

Edited by: RtoZ on 30/12/2006 14:07:30 Edited by: RtoZ on 30/12/2006 14:06:36 Atm personally am not worried at being a target, as I obey the "don't fly what you can't afford to lose" rule and do not have any player corp afiliation. At most I could get killed by a suicide gank or a very advanced type of trap. I'm richer than I can spend atm due to skill set limitations. Besides, it's hard to claim poverty when you mission run in a navy raven, it kinda stands out.
I would think that killing 200+ ships in one go would make one a bigger target, not to mention being the eve equivalent of pulling a car bomb in a maybach

Well I don't know... when running a single high-tier anti-pirate L4 mission can net you well over 50 mil in a single swoop (sometimes even up to 100 mil, including bounties, loot and salvage) and takes at most 4 hours to complete solo and with not-so-good-skills... do that ONCE a week and you're already well above the "average per capita income". Realistically speaking, a "decent" mission runner team (and when I say "decent" I mean a three/four people with UNDER 4 mil SP) will breeze through L4 missions with minimal risk, and can easily net you 20+ mil per hour per person on average. So basically have a bit of team play a couple of hours during weekends, and if all goes well that means an easy 200 mil per month. Heck, an out-of-the-box trial account can start running L2 in a cruiser a couple of days after creation, and can start with L3s as soon as it can train battlecruisers (especially, again, in teams).
IF per chance there WOULD be any ISK "sweatshop" grinders, I have no clue why they're not team-grinding L4 missions instead of mining, the risks involved are minimal at worst, and the rewards (if everything is properly "streamlined" an optimized to the max) upwards of 30 mil ISK/hour income per char *IN HIGHSEC*, for a "theoretical" income of (realistically) 700 mil in the 23 hours between downtimes... 21 BILLION per month per character played 23/7.
I am ashamed to admit, my wallet is below one bil right now, and never was much above... I kind of tend to not undock and leave missions lingering for 4-5 days before I take them, because... well... to be honest, I use EVE lately more like an IRC channel than the game it's meant to be. 653m in wallet at the moment, which is pretty average for me. I reached a maximum of 1.3bn once, but spent half on a freighter. I certainly have billions of ISK in assets, probably less than 10bn though. I tend to think of myself as being typical EVE middle class.

I currently have 5 million in my wallet, I've got a Brutix I can't fly that well, I've got an Iteron which I buy and sell from and I'm happy with all that.
From what I've read and seen, I'd say 95% of Eve's wealth [ISK and BPOs] are held by 5% of the population. The tech 2 BPO world gets very small compared to the number of players out there.
