Thinking on how the current POS towers function and the new stations we are getting trying to keep all the different service addons fueled (as referenced in the dev posts) for example fueling the station service to run a production line, or research line, to name a few examples. The assumption here is that their will be eventually be a myriad of stations (different types, racial origins, functions, and even more sub-types of "fittings" for these new stations.
I propose a new fuel isotope fuel block precursor be player made to help with this some.
example:
To make a fuel block now you need to gather several P/I materials, Ice ore products, to make a race specific fuel block for a POS tower.
This model is find for now, but when we have to fuel individual station services, (that may need different racial isotopes), we come back to the old POS tower fueling of stocking/making multiple types of fuel blocks to run a single station again....
Right now if I mine ICE in Amarr space, I get helium isotopes, heavy water, liquid ozone, and strontium the other three races use different isotopes but get the same materials, (in high sec anyway low/null sec ice has different mixes but for simplicity staying with high sec ice for this discussion)
Proposed changes: Either one BPO (or four depending on how programming works in game engine) This BPO takes one of the four existing racial isotopes and catalyses it with another material (or more, example only) Lets say 1000 units of the racial isotope and 100 units of Strontium, will net you 1100 units of unified *or some other sci-fi named* Isotope.
This new isotope would then be used to make the station/ station services fuel blocks needed for them to function.
This new system would keep existing ice mining mechanics and fields intact, it would cause the existing four racial fuel block prints to change to only make the unified isotope and one new addition print to make the fuel block final product.
OR
if you want to make the system even less complex, we could just use strontium to power the station services, it is already universal, no extra prints needed, not alot of it is extracted (refinement changes already in place, and even when refined there is a low proportion of it to the other materials provided) thus it keeps the money sink aspect intact and lowers complexity the stations and when considering how energy hungry the XL station service(s) may be, the availability of the rare ice ores in low/null sec their are a few that have abundant amounts of the strontium to power them, while the high sec ones will be plenty for the weaker/unavailable services.
This could even be the "ammo" for the XL station doomsday weapon(s) or any amount of the station functions... |

I don't think he/she did any reading.
But, the new Fuel bloc should be able to be one BPO that can use one of the four isotopes or a combination of the four to be made.
