greetings.
my goal is to fit the ishkur in a way to stay out of web and med nos range.while my drones do the majority of the work .
so here is my question , what is the best possible fitting for a durable tank at that range? (like 16km) a tank that would survive tech 2 medium drones long enough for me to shoot them down.
thanks in advance

I went with Rails on the highs. 20km Scrambler, Tracking Comp, AB on the mediums. And then a Small Armor repper, Adeptive nano and a Explosive Plating in the lows.
Hope that works for you to.

Tracking comp is a waste of a mid-slot as the guns will be able to hit fine on their own when you're orbiting with an afterburner. You'd be better off with a web if you're intending to shoot people's drones.
Also the 20k scram, AB and guns will use a lot of cap, leaving very little for running the armor rep. --------------

Oke thanks, I'm new to using the Ishkur and i worried about the rails hitting but you made a good point with the web so I'll deflently swap those and see how it go's. Thanks. And yes you do have little cap for the repper but thats where micro maneging (spelling?) skills come into play.

Almost what I run only I'm using an n-type exp hardener (to save cap over the T2) instead of the EANM II, it's also a lot cheaper as well

Why? Light drones are fast already. TBH I would fit the ship as if it didn't have drones.. on a frigate drone modules are pointless as they are wastes of much-needed slots. When I begin using an Ishkur in mid-March I plan to use; it will be a close range brawler:
Highs 4x Small Diminishing Nos
Mids 1x Fleeting Scram 1x AB II 1x Named Target Painter
Lows 1x SAR II 1x EANM II or Best Named EANM 1x Expl n-type hardener
Drones (Assuming Assualt Frigs 4): 2x Hammerhead II 3x Hobgoblin II

Just wondering why a target painter and not a Tracking Disruptor? With the disruptor it makes it much harder for your target to pop your drones.

let me ask something to the pilots of all those vampire ishkurs (4nos in highs)
how do u survive? i mean those setups are destined to take down cruisers and the like right?
most ships i encounter all pack tech 2 drones , atleast 50%of all cruisers has like 40-50m drone bay . how do u survive those?
lets take a rupture how would u survive the autocannons + drones when u are webbed?
wont any blastership just evaporate your ship?
plz tell me what u expect to kill with those setups and possibly explain to me how you tank them.

Simple, a well fit Cruiser is better than an Assault frigate.

What makes you think that an Ishkur is a cruiser killer ? Its not, and the guy above did answer your question.
Pretty much any PVP cruiser pilot with half a brain will pop an AF. AF's are for killing other frigs or for gang support, not solo cruiser killers. Sig removed, lacks game related content. Please contact [email protected] for more info (including a copy of your picture!) -Pirlouit

It cannot tank a cruiser, it cannot tank a well fit destroyer, it cannot tank anything but another AF (low damage or highly resisted types).

Edited by: Raeff on 31/12/2006 20:35:03 Nos ishkur is basically a tackler killer. If your lookin for a 1v1 droner with a tank go vexor or even arbitrator. I'ts cheaper and works much better than the ishkur. An AF and cruiser basically take the same amount of time to warp, so they have the same exact escape potential and its easier to fit a mwd.
Btw, whoever mentioned the drone speed mods, I was under the impression they effected drones tracking quite a bit. Atleast thats my experience with them.
As for the original question, if you got money see if you can find one of the long range webs. Quite pricey though, but you could orbit like 14k+.

Edited by: doctorstupid2 on 01/01/2007 00:13:42 What's with all these shortranged blaster/nos fits with afterburners? Suicidal much?
Blaster/nos fit: 2 x light electron II 2 x named small nos
1mn microwarpdrive II 7.5 scram (for cap concerns) x5 web
small rep II active explosive II (energized reactive II works as well and makes it easier to deal with getting nos'd back) damage control
It still isn't fast at about 1600m/s, but at least it can get in range sometime this week.
And for the OP, my ranged fit:
3 x 125mm railgun II
1mn microwarpdrive II 20k scram x5 web (just because you're trying to stay outside web range doesn't mean that interceptor agrees with you, if people get in range, you need the web or your range advantage disappears)
small rep II energized reactive II cap relay
If you insit on being overwhelmingly slow and dying, afterburner fit can fit 150mm t2 rails instead of 125mm.

I've taken down heavy blaster thoraxes (webbed), plated ruptures (webbed and nos'd), and caracals solo in my ishkur at close range. With a good pilot who knows how to do more than orbit and turn on mods, an assault frig will take many well fit and piloted cruisers and make them cry.

then you know the pilots you fought weren't good pilots any assault frigate that would come into web range of my rax or vexor would die a bloody death....
and I think people would agree that their t1 cruisers wouldnt die to some lousy AF

Well for one I wouldn't put myself in web range of a vexor. Second, thoraxes are easy enough to deal with, you need to manually orbit under their guns and start targeting drones. As the ishkur is just barely faster than a rax, it really comes down to who has the better web, if you let him open range on you, your transversal goes down and pop goes the ishkur. For what it's worth, the last rax I dropped in it had a rack of heavy modal electrons, mwd, x5 web, med repper, 800mm plate, a pair of mag field II and something I can't remember in the last low. Should have fraps'd it, it's amazing how many people don't realize it's actually quite easy to get under the tracking of blasters.

Edited by: Ryysa on 01/01/2007 01:23:27 lol, a vexor/rupture/arbitrator will kill you instantly. thorax will have a harder time due to resists, but if he isn't completely retarded he has a full rack of t2 explosive medium drones.
Just because you killed some noob once doesn't make you "ownage specialist". And just because i killed a battleship with my inty once, doesn't mean I or you win eve.
You can kill nearly every ship with every ship, provided the ship is afk long enough and you can beat the passive shield recharge rate. Doesn't mean you're uber for doing it.
P.S. Ishkur and Jaguar are the two af's that are best at the "solo pwnmobile" role. Just try to check how old your target is, what he is doing etc before attacking him. An npcing cruiser most likely won't have a warp scrambler fitted, so if you are getting nailed you can most likely warp out.
Also, the advantage of using an assault frigate vs a cruiser is the 6 au/s warp speed, instead of 3 au/s, which makes a big difference when roaming a large area.

I never said I only did it once, now did I? Nor did I claim it will previl in any and all shortrange engagements. When properly piloted, as i said, it CAN pwn the crap out of a cruiser, in retort to the absurd statement that any T1 cruiser will eat it alive.
Oh, and the 'noob' i 'pwnd once' was 7 months old and pretty decently fit (only a semi noob), and he tried like hell to kill me. Unfortunately for him he only had hammerheads in the bay, though having near the same explosive resist I do thermic it wouldnt have helped him a whole lot anyway Last rupture put me in structure, I had a hell of a time closing range and he hurt like hell while I tried
Vexor, yes, very scary, I don't get close to those in any frigate. Though it may be debatable if he had vespas/hornets. Those of you who just say 'omglol helll pawn you instantly lolz webz!' have obviously never tried and seriously lack creativity. If you aren't soloing ships that "should" kill you in your AF, you just aren't trying hard enough
