A status update is overdue and would be greatly appreciated. We are all (mostly) adults here. Silence accomplishes nothing more than to create a void into which speculation is the only harvest.

I tend to agree, Dust has been sitting in limbo for far too long. They've been releasing updates but there doesn't seem to be a longterm plan for Dust known to the public like there is for EVE.
Dust isn't even talked about at CCP events now. |

I agree with this message i'd like to hear what the future plan with DUST is, PS3 is becoming very outdated so it either needs a new platform like PC or PS4 or die a slow death.
I'm sorry but that's where DUST stands now.

Agreed and signed.
Dust/Legion remains one of the most interesting and highest potential gaming concepts I've ever seen. If implemented correctly it could be a massive jolt for the Eve universe.
Furthermore the Dust player base deserves something, anything, regarding the future of the community they've built.
I included footage from Dust trailers in my CSM campaign videos because I believe in the One Universe One War idea. Here is hoping some people at the top still do, too.

My hope is that CCP stop neglecting what they have in order to chase the next shiney potential product, only for that in turn to share the same fate in a few years time.
DUST 514 and it's players deserve better.
I've noticed the vast majority of Hilmar's tweets this year (if not all) feature a picture of him wearing a VR headset, and there's no doubt that he's caught up in the VR hype, meaning Valkyrie and Gunjack are benefitting from the limelight right now.
But then I remember when CCP put DUST 514 centre stage.
CCP needs to dedicate the appropriate people and resources to ALL of their amazing games. All of them. They all have the potential to add something unique and special to New Eden, with EVE Online at its core.
For DUST 514 that means looking to the future as the PS3 falls further behind other platforms.
CCP needs to decide what they're going to do with it, if they've not done so already, and give some indication to the players who are hungry for any information they can get.

Appreciate any and all support from the Capsuleers on this issue.
Obviously as a member of the CPM 1 & 2 (Dust's version of the CSM) I'm bound by the same NDA as the CSM so can't say more on the subject other than that the CPM have a very collabrative relationship with CCP Rattati and the Shanghai team.
We just had Hotfix FoxFour and the team are working hard on Warlords 1.3 at the moment using feedback directly gathered from the player base on the forums or indirectly via the CPM.
CCP's reluctance to speak publicly about a move away from PS3 is regrettable but also understandable given the PR disaster that 'Project Legions' demonstration at Fanfest 2014 turned out to be. A error on the part of CCP that has shaped the way they handle any feature or development announcement since then, with nothing now shown or promised until it's 100% deliverable.
Rest assured however that the CPM constantly press for more information to be forthcoming but understand why it hasn't been yet. CCP also know that the players are hungry for more information but are unwilling to say anything until they know they can deliver.

I think the only reason why the Project Legion thing went bad is because they didn't say enough of "you will keep your progress and [stuff] as we progress into the future"
While I understand that CCP doesn't want to say anything to upset people, they are saying almost nothing now and that constitutes neglect, which is just as bad! Wouldn't it make sense for them to follow the same pattern as EVE? Reveal ideas, get feedback, answer concerns, modify designs, repeat..
I think it's weird that CCP is communicating SO MUCH about future and progression to the capsuleers but then giving so little to the DUST peoples... especially since that again emphasizes the upsetting image of neglect! :3
Drones. Drones are a means to an end. An end to the ruthless Caldari 'progress' machines. An end to the barbaric 'redemption' proposed by the Amarr. What they see as chaos shall be my perfect order, merely beyond their comprehension.

We already know they hired an outside company to convert Dust to Unreal 4 using PS4 hardware. The smoking gun was revealed some time ago, they just didn't want to comment on it especially as the evidence presented here does not mean they were not also pursuing it on PC at the same time, or had even reached a decision on that end.
When you take that evidence into consideration, it doesn't guarantee the port but it does mean they have spent significant resources researching the possibility. Also, the CPM flatly refused to comment on it which pretty much guarantees it isn't some made up nonsense.
Personally, I think the issue is something akin to PC being easier to develop for in terms of cost, but they want to put it on PS4 so they are trying like hell to get the funds for it through Dust and Gunjack. It's pretty well known at this stage that Rouge was never a fan of putting Dust on PC, and that was simply Hilmar giving him the terrible responsibility of relaying the decision publicly. I wouldn't be surprised if he wanted to avoid actually going through with it. That's just my personal tin foil though, and I'm probably a good bit off the mark on that count. |

Without wanting to confirm or deny anything in case its misinterpreted, on this particular point you're way of the mark.

Then we have an interesting situation as that would directly contradict statements that have been made in public at the same information level you're operating at. If you hadn't shaved off the first sentence of the paragraph I would accept the meaning behind your post a bit more easily, but considering you did I could only assume that implies direct contradiction. Not sure what to make of that, but its something to stew over.
The only point of error I could see would be the mention of Hilmar as that IS an assumption on my part, but there aren't really a lot of people over Rouge I'm aware of from where he sits. |

That being said, I REALLY hope someone is working on it...

They are a business, and Dust is technically profitable. So, they aren't looking for closure, they are looking for money.
In which way they decide to get that money is the question. It could come from porting, or it could come from squeezing our wallets dry until the game dies and they move onto a different project.
If CCP Z had his way, it would come in the form of destroying everything you love about the game and turning it into WoW. Pray his model never reaches fruition, for the death of the game is a far better fate. |
