So how long until we get the customizable jukebox that we had prior to the whole thing being gutted?
Another 4 years?
Not to say this isn't a step in the right direction though. |

BLACK-STAR wrote:If the Jukebox is returning and CCP reads this, could we have nice features like URL streaming for interweb radio stations? Maybe, allow us to build a playlist from the game, or mix up our own tunes from the local directory off the computer?
Alt-tab is ok for itunes or soundcloud, whatever, but I'll be happy with just having it back how it was. meh...
Imagine if they had that kind of concept built into the player-owned establishments that were working on for the 2007-era ambulation. Internet radio station playing through a local speaker system in someones store. Ah, such wasted potential. |

But looks like people here and on reddit just jump on the happy train of unsatisfied overhype without even trying this feature. Honestly I don't understand why roll-out this feature without proper UI elements (prev, next, pause at least)
CCP Darwin was salty about the idea of wasting dev time "keeping what is essentially winamp updated for the game client".
In other words, CCP sound design has no heart. They would probably be better off hiring someone who was actually passionate about his job and didn't just shrug off the concept of sound design in favor of sound cloud. |

Same reason features always get removed.
Somebody got an ego and ran with it. Then everyone got lazy and decided it was easier to close ranks and defend the butthurt rather than fix the problem.
Nothing new, really. Happens at my work all the time. Happens over at Blizzard too -- you should have seen the defense going on after Diablo 3 came out. |

The idea that it required anything to maintain at all is a joke. It was such a basic feature. |

Winamp doesn't load my playlist automatically when the game starts and turn off when the game turns off. Winamp doesn't have region subfolders that change the music automatically based on location. Not having to do these things to create a mood every time I turn the game on is what creates auditory immersion.
That's why development studios generally have professional sound design guys, and don't simply tell their customers to turn on winamp. Imagine if an Elder Scrolls game came out with no sound track. You can imagine people would be upset, right? That game is all about immersion. Well, the same thing applies here. It's for people who want an immersive experience and are somewhat annoyed by the fact that CCP has taken a very anti-immersion stance in regards to this game -- particularly within the realm of sound design.
Granted this applies more to pilots who don't run 4 accounts at the same time. But hey, we do exist. |
