So, I've been playing Eve for almost a year now. I knew pretty early on that I would want to play this game a long time.. So I invested in implants and learning skills.. But now I am pretty much maxed out unless I want to shell out a lot of isk for +5 implants.
It makes me a little sad that there is little else I can do to to shorten my training time.
A booster that gives a huge increase to a random attribute for a short period of time might be kinda fun.

It sounds like it though.
Tbh after a year you ought to understand Eve better. You ought to know that skills aren't everything. Since there is no end game (no 'I have learnt them all') there is no need to hurry. Concentrate on your area of expertise. Become one of the best at what you do then branch out. -- (Battle hardened industrialist)

So then why give us the ability to shorten training time in the first place?
I don't think wanting some new way to affect attributes is any different than wanting better ships, guns, modules, etc..

Edited by: SonOTassadar on 01/01/2007 10:52:42 TBH, I consider myself to have a lot of patience. A lot of my corpmates have less than 10million SP, and are around the 150 total skills mark. I have around 15million SP, just broke 100 skills, and have 24 of those skills at level 5. In all fairness, I have the patience to train level 5s, but it still drives me crazy how long they take sometimes. I think I my head will explode when I am forced to trank rank 8 skills to 5. I've trained a few rank 5 and 6 skills to level 5, and honestly, waiting 3 weeks to a month just aggravates me sometimes.
The argument here is "Don't think of it as waiting -- do stuff while that skill trains". What I'm currently aiming for is a new ship. I am but a tackler in PvP right now, and that's fun, for the most part. My new ship will provide a different role, one that suits me better, so you can imagine the frustration I face when I've been sitting here for 4 months *waiting* for skills to finish training, spending my time as a tackler, and running missions. I do not advocate instant gratification, and I do think the training times are necessary, but sometimes I just need to rant about it, and so do some other people. God help me if I ever train capital ships. ----- Griffin -- 100,000 ISK ECM - Multispectral Jammer Is -- 20,000 ISK Standar Missile Launcher Is -- 10,000 ISK War target sobbing over losing a fight in his T2 fitted Battleship -- priceless |

Look at it this way when T3 comings into being in the game, there gonna have to find someway to either increase skill training speed or give the new stuff already existing and therefore already trained skills making it little more than existing T2 named variations

As they stand, I think the skills are fine. People are right when they say to just concentrate on your area of expertise. You don't need to be great at EVERYTHING. :-)
You can prod some serious buttock after a few months, if you know what it is that you want to do, and just set that as your goal.
Once you've got it... find something else that takes your interest.

I've been playing about a year, mostly without implants - maybe 25% time wiht +3's.
To be honest i don't really care anymore, doing level 5 skills it doesn;t bother me if they take 5 15 or 30 days it all comes in time.
Use your existing skills and have fun and you wont notice -----

but tech 3 won't be a step up from tech 2 it will be a side step at best, and in all probability will simply need a few additional lvl 4-5 skills to use, skills that are already in the game, at least thats what I have assumed will happen from dev responses etc. over the years |

Something like that. There is no point just introducing something above T2 because that just shuffles everything down. T1 becomes reprocessing fodder, T2 becomes standard and T3 is the expensive good stuff.

So you've been playing for a year...
First year I played there were no implants and no advanced learning skills.
Think yourself lucky to have what you have now, your attributes are already +9 higher than I had at the end of year 1 (assuming +4 implants and maxed learning skills), you have probably gained the same skill points in your year that it took me 2 years to get.
Training time is fine the way it is... |

Well, first thing, don't train level 5's unless you have a REASON to. If they're a pre-req for something, go ahead and train them, but in most cases you're much better off with 20 level three skills than 1 level 5 one.
Other than that, I don't know what you mean by 'waiting around' for skills to train. There is PLENTY of stuff to do in EVE even with minimal skills. So don't wait around - play. _____ Lifewire is a big, ugly, mean... carebear. |
