Viceroy	Posted - 2003.11.30 04:26:00 - [35] I'm sure there is a legit reason for this. I dont believe that the GMs of Eve-online would do anything that immature or irresponsible. So any of you who think that the GMs did this intentionally, as favouritism, should think it over. It is probably a mistake, or a case of misinformation, or simple misleading. I'd just like to know why, because i think i have a right to know why. (and yea, i like to rant about it sometimes :P) -

This isn't the first time people have witnessed a GM interceding on this Corp's behalf nor the first time Polaris has tried to cover it up ingame and in the forums.. It won't be the last time.. Everyone and their dog knows there's a number of Polaris members and GMs with player alts who seem to benefit from 'coincidence' and 'luck' all the time.. There's not even any point in posting 'proof' about any of it because the mods here will just delete it, they did so 2 weeks ago on Crime&Punishment, they did 2 months ago here, they always have and always will.. CCP won't talk to us anymore, true newbies quit within 24hours due to exploiters and exploiters are never punished.. I was originally Antichrist, then some funny GM decided to be cute and changed my name to something ridiculous without any warning. Then, it took them like 2 1/2 weeks to change my name to something that I requested. The point is... a GM screwed with my name in a shady fashion, I'm sure it will happen again. The irony is that if you do a character name search right now (as of 30 NOV 03), you will discover that an 'Anti Christ' exists. So, the space makes it acceptable? No, they just decided to screw with me back then for no real good reason. There are plenty of much more vulgar names in the Eve database than Antichrist, but some GM just had the God Complex and thought they could change my name in an inappropriate manner. There's my two cents. ---

The picture on the avatar had a funny look, giving the impression of a girly boy type. It was just for fun, and I was gonna delete it to make a proper alt. When that day came to delete it i found that the picture had been changed completely, and looked nothing like it had before. As I was deleting it, it never bothered me at the time, but that's just another example for you

Othnark	Posted - 2003.11.30 06:12:00 - [43] I cant explain the name change, but getting the security status from -6 to +2 is possible overnight, if you have the right agents (and dont go to sleep). I went from -5.1 to +2 in about 6 hours once. Doing a mission for a Concord agent will boost you 0.05 sec rating. In system Aulbers (I think thats the name) in Placid there is a concord agent that will accept on dock if you have the right faction. Doing a few missions for him gets you refered to another L1 concord agent in the same system. Now you can overlap missions for these guys and boost sec status by 0.1 in about 4-6 jump round trips + insta missions. What I did was fix up to -4.9, travel to my L3 sec fixer and get to -3. Then over to my L2 sec fixer to -1.1, then back to my L3 to -0.0. Then back to the concord agents till I was at +2.0. It is possible, but I dont know the details of that "certain" persons agents and faction ratings, but thats how I did it. Oh incidentally, Aulbers is 0.1 sec level i think and all its surrounding systems are low sec enough that the concord agent wont send you anywhere that will get you killed.... NICE.... too bad they are being booted out of the game because of a "glitch". -Othnark

The going form -6.0 to 0.0 sec status, is easily done with a cuple of levels 3 agents, going to 0.0 to 2.0 is more difficult, but again can be easily obtained with the few assination and deliver this eveidnece missions which can add 0.1 and 0.7 to agents in a shot, also concord missions used to reward sec rating directly, which lead to lots of sec boosting. The name chage is a different matter, but since people are talking about changes to their addressbook, I wonder if this has happened to more than one character. It funny when the online community can affect real life. I received a phonecall from a chap who I had never met, discussing things which should never be discussed. Using Ip tracings, and internet phonebooks, and very minimal real life information he was able to trace my name address occupation, and now I belive he has access to other 'personal' information about me, suhc as NI info and job related locations, as well as my parents names adresses and phone numbers. As he has done nothing, the police can take no action, as I don't actually know who he is, and they say they can't trace the phone records, something which is probably lazyiness rather than actual fact, but it was international calling - I am in UK, he's in Europe. This is a scary business, and frankly has left me somewhat upset, but I won't be changing my character name as I doubt that would assist in any matter. It would be nice for a GM or Dev statement about these name changes. Even if all it sayes is ''The reasons behind the name change are perfectly valid, and these reasons cannot be disclosed for personal/security matters, and the sec status change was dueto game activity rather than request or favour.'' This would reassure the community, and also prove that currently no 'witness protection programs' are available in game.. yet! Oberon Incorporated.

Now but if they where to tell us why, no details of course (but seeing how all info about this character is accessable in this thread....weak) We'd be satisfied, well most of us, there would be doubters of course. I'm just not a believer that Polaris and especially GM's (who get payed for this) would abuse their position like this....sure to be grounds for dismissal right? Bleh...too tired to care right now. Ravenal	Posted - 2003.11.30 12:31:00 - [53] i wasnt even talking about getting security boosts from doing mission for concord agents. by doing missions for the various empire agents you concord faction rating goes up (or used to...whatever). now, when you start collecting security rating by killing rats you get a huge boost, possibly due to the fact that your security rating is "catching up" to the concord faction rating or something. anyway, a once corpmember of mine was named cornholio...the next day he was eveplayer14 with a message in his mailbox informing him that his name was obscene and should evemail a gm about what his new name should be. I guess they do a search/replace or something when they change character names, thats why the founder is the "new" character name. and the newbie? hes prolly gonna get a namechange too. ...new sig coming up Ravenal - Fate is what you make of it.
