Hello all, listen to my idea please I would like to run a farm, either as a stand-alone building for when the SPOSs are introduced or as an add-on for a POS. Basically you get some livestock or veggies, get some food/fetilizers/soils/stuff and wait. Sometimes you would need pesticides/antibiotics. This would produce more livestock/veggies. For this to work I propose that livestock be split into several smaller groups such as cows/sheep/pigs/space turkeys/fedo/etc and some veg being added. you could have an "animal husbandry"/"Green fingers" skill that increases the weekly/monthly output of your livestock/veg They also interact with eachother as veggies could be used to feed animals and animal waste can be used to fertilize plants. However, the main problem is... Why would anyone BUY Livestock/veg from a farmer? that's what needs thinking about. Perhaps Animals can be reprocessed into biomass and so would have an NPC market or required for outposts and stuff, veg...hmm... that's more difficult.. So come on all you smart peeps out there, help me refine my farm idea.

Nope, ccp promised to develop more things like these so the trade goods would be more important and actually be usefull. --*=*=*--
The cause for this is not yet known, but we do have a possible fix in testing. by Sharkbait | 2006.09.20 |

Play the Sims 2. Pretty much all you described there. (Or the new Seasons expansion pack will have harvestable crops in it, as well as player mods.) ------

Okay add this to your idea.
Once they introduce walking in stations they have in-station restaurants that serve the meat and veggies you grow.
Different meals can provide different effects, from simply fulfilling hunger to booster like effects depending on the quality of the food.

Someone just got out of rehabilitation for a Harvest Moon obsession didn`t they... But that actualy works, I don`t know how but the idea has caught my interest, hook, line, sinker and copy of Anglers monthly.
Note to all, What I say may be infact of a more humorous tone than comes accross. |

I so want to put this in my sig but my current one is awesome too... yes, it's a real idea, I think it would be good. Then I really CAN be a Fedo Breeder. EvE already has "Astrofarm" structures in some Deadspace complexes, so this could be a reality.
Now, it would be somewhat harder to find the use for products that it would make...
Perhaps you could consume the diary products it would produce, and, say, gain a "Well Fed" buff that would increase your Spirit and Stamina by 15%... oh wait...

So your actually proposing to have sort of a farm pos put into eve? I hate to say it but, cool idea! I cant see how it will help lol but yah 10/10 for creativity.
Maybe a i dunno 'food system' could be implemented into the game like your pilot needs to eat every now and then, just like real life, so you stop off at pos donald's and fuel up otherwise stuff happens to you when you fly, dunno what stuff tho, sumin like that.

This thread wins for "space turkeys" alone.
Benco, I propose that the Burst be overhauled as a specialized Minni agriculture/cropduster/space turkey processing ship. * * * In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

Adding food, or any fixed cost system into the game is a bad idea.
Adding extra production requirements for ships and modules is a bad idea.
Its great if you want to play a single player trading game, its not great if you are trying to drive a managed multiplayer economy.
Anyway, "farms" exist in the fill up with materials, sit and wait for stuff mechanic, and they are called mining POS's. ---------------------------------------- Thou Shalt "Pew Pew" |

I think anything related to farming and trade goods for trade goods sake has probably been relegated to "Advanced planetary interaction" and is thus some number of years between about 2 and hrm 10 maybe in the future
Anyhow I'd rather large, expensive pos modules whereby you feed in minerals and get out mechanical parts or the likes myself, reduce a little bit of hassle and dependency on empire when managing a pos network, but introduce new strategic concern in the process . ----- It's great being Minmatar, ain't it? The peaceful Intaki in me demands this as a feature.
I could go out to my farm in a pair of old dungarees and a straw hat and grow lots of vegetables for a while after killing somebody as a kind of karma-balancing thing.

Then we can have giant-space pumpkin growing competitions. Every crop season, farmers jet their ultra-large pumpkins into space and have them mined by Hulks. The pumpkin which yields the most pulp wins a T2 Pumpkin BPO. ----------------- One word,, emo,,,

Different conditions, zero-G farming would be quite interesting. A planet has constant conditions too, so if you cant grow those mangoes on the surface, grow em in space! ----------------- One word,, emo,,,
