Oh yeah I've also seen someone called Darth Vadar in the game as well I mean how blatent is that?
Ive seen someone called darth solo in game and he has the same ego as darth vader!

This is one of the things I've been talking with the graphics people (as in people who do 2D and 3D for a living) in my corp. In short, EVE doesn't have unique ship designs nearly at all, most of them are either heavily influenced by some other ship in another game/tv serie/movie or are a hybrid of such. There are some unique designs in EVE but I can't think of any at the moment...

Actually i think the Nebulon B, if looking like anything in EVE looks like the Myrmidon.
The Myrmidon is clearly a Sharlin class warcruiser.

A crusader always reminded me of an A-wing/swoop/podracer.
A Armageddon looks like a dreadnought from the Katana fleet
A tristan looks like one of Prince Xizor's fighters

The Naglfar looks a LOT like the Pride of Hiigara (the Hiigaran Mothership) in Homeworld 2. It's basically the same thing, just the Naglfar is minmatar-ized and it's engines are puny little rockets.

If you want to see what happens when they break the mold of 'classic' fantasy space ship styles, look at the asymmetrical disaster that is most Caldari ships (with few exceptions).

Humans will recognise similarities, not differences. Plus, there have been written and filmed SO MANY sf stories that it'd be silly if the ships didn't resemble each other.

Uh. The only thing I can see that those ships have in common is the fact that they are both vertical.
And really, after about 40 years of science fiction movies and later video games, you can't really claim that any of those are ripoffs. It's very difficult to come up with a original design in this day and age (Except possibly the Moa.  ).

Some of the ships look like they are modelled on ships in Babylon 5. The Raven looks suspiciously like the Centauri Battleship seen in several episodes. The new EvE ship class- Hyperion is also a b5 Ship type.
