Can't remember the name of it, can't log in to find out :P
It's Really pretty amazing. Level 3 agent missions generated this important mission for me, and up until the last part, it seemed like a good lvl 3 mission. Then the last part. I took a look at the overview and blinked. at least 6 battleships. I looked at the battleships. All of them in the 800k+ range for reward. I looked at the mission objective in the journal. OK, I am not supposed to engage them, merely destroy a structure and grab the can and run.
So I wander up to the objective to be destroyed, completely ignoring the three cruisers nipping at my flanks. I stop, and target the structure and in two volleys it is destroyed. After the first shot, I am being targeted by everything in the deadspace bubble. No problem, this is supposed to be doable by someone that can do lvl 3 missions, I think to myself. I target the wreck as soon as it pops out, and begin targeting it for tractoring. Then the first missile volley hits. JFC on a pogo stick. Screw this I'm warping NOW. Then volleys start to pour in every few seconds. I hit structure in 15 seconds, and 10 seconds after that my ship is floating scrap.
What ship was I flying? An Apocolypse, with t2 defensive equipment, all armor and armor repper skills maxxed. Explain to me how is it that this mission is supposed to be completable by someone solo?
I imagine it might be possible for someone to sucker, erm, convince someone else to join them and fire the first shot at the tower, assuring destruction of whatever non-capital ship they might happen to be in. I assume also that it might be possible to align for warp, send drones first, and let them get smacked, but this doesn't seem like it has a high possibility of success either. I was taken from around 10,000 armor at around 90% EM and 80% thermal straight through all my structure in roughly 25 seconds, while running a t2 Armor repper.
Quite simply, this mission is utterly insane. It is a lvl 3 mission for the first 9 of 10 steps, then it turns into a lvl 4 mission. I can wander around almost at will in the Crypt in Garisas, a few battleships and a dozen cruisers firing at me for as long as I feel like hanging around and collecting loot, but this mission smashed me flat in seconds.
When I can log back in I'll be trying one more time, after I buy and refit another apoc, then spend several hours slowly working my way through the 4 or 5 levels in the last mission. I will use a decent frigate pilot (alt on second account) to make the first shot on the tower, then send them racing madly at MDW speed in an executioner, trying to keep ahead of the scores of huge missiles pouring out of those battleships. Being unsure of the exact characteristics of those missiles, I can only hope that the small signature and high speed of the ship will allow it to survive long enough for me to get the Apoc out.
But, I have an advantage. Multiple accounts. A person with one account is quite simply utterly screwed by this mission, as far as I can see. If they bring in a ship big enough to take down the tower quickly, the signature on the ship and low velocity ensure that the massive missile barrage kills them before they can warp. If they bring in a ship that can warp quickly, they die before they can finish taking down the tower to get the objective.
This Important mission needs to be re-evaluated so that it is more appropriate for people who do lvl 3 missions.

Angel Strike.
You should see the level 4 version.
Just blow up the objective and get out.
Even with a pair we only killed a few before warping off. You don't have to kill everything. Don't try.

LOL, I had no intention of even trying to kill any of those battleships. I was trying to warp for about 22 out of those 25 seconds after the first volley hit, but the ship was bouncing around like mad, and couldn't warp.
Hit and run is the key here, supposedly, but I see no option for any single-account player to do anything other than hit and die, unless they find someone to help them. It's not very easy to find people willing to stop whatever they are doing and come be a target dummy for you in a mission where they are very likely to lose their ship.
The insane damage output of those ships has absolutely no place in a lvl 3 mission, IMHO.

The mission is Angel Strike....
Fly to the structure and kill the cruisers attacking you, they will not aggro anything else. Then blow up the structure and warp out immediatly. When you come back to loot the stucture the battleships will not aggro you and you can loot was is usually a implant.

FWIW, on the Gurista version, a drake is able to tank a entire spawn (6 BS, several BCs/Cruisers/Frigs). I had 2 LSE II's, 1 Named Inv, and 3x named Harderners in mids and a SPR and PDU in low. This gave me about 91% kin resist and my shields finally settled around 45% when I started taking out the BCs/Cruisers (killed the web frigs first). The main problem is each BS took between 220-300+ missles each to kill, so a while. I would have taken out everything but ran out of time and Kin missles so I just said screw it, aligned, BM'd a wreck, popped the main targ and warped out.

I suppose if I triple tank EM and thermal both, I can bring my resists up to about 95% and 90%, maybe a bit higher, still not sure if the ship will be able to warp before going down, as I said, I was trying to warp for over 20 seconds. The ship was being thrown around like a rubber duck in a two-year-old's pool party, and simply would not enter warp.
I figure a rough estimate of the raw damage incoming to the ship was in the range of 4000 damage per second before resists. That is quite simply insane for lvl 3 - I don't even want to imagine what the lvl 4 version looks like. In the future I will refuse to do this mission, regardless of what my faction loss will be. It is quite simply not worth it for any reward that a lvl 3 mission gives, or even any lvl 4 mission reward I have ever seen. |

Read the mission brief.
Basically, the battleships only start shooting once you do.
So ignore the other ships and go straight for the objective, align for warp, blow up the building and the get out.
You can then warp back in to loot the remains and the baddies will ignore you.

I have done the Gurista version, but this shouln't be different.
When you have blown up the tower the mission is completed. No need to grab the loot immediatly.
So enter the last room, bookmark the tower, destroy it, jump away and deliver the mission.
Then return to your bookmark and recover the loot.
The DPS are hard, but if you time it right, you can easily avoid problems.

Angel Strike. Did it few days ago with a Harbinger BC. Had some tight moments but eventually its really easy. Kill the cruisers that are guarding the objective, be as close to objective structure as you can. Destroy, loot wreck, warp out (prealigned warp-point to some planet or whatever helps too). n thats all :)

Edited by: Dormio on 05/01/2007 11:10:17 I've done it several times in the past (I think it was lvl3). BS quantity depends on NPC type, but usually is between 10 and 15. The fastest solution for you is to destroy the cruisers and then the structure, next warp off. When back in stage you should use fast frigate or shutle and take the loot... Simple as others described.
Anyway... if you would like to take bounty from BSes or farm it for a bit longer... just simple - use the tackler (fitted for speed). NPCs are split at 2 groups and the best way is using interceptor with AB and agro one group in time. Then others (you ?) in BS can simple and safe shoot down BS after BS, it will take some time if made by only 2 person gang but fully doable.
In case any questions - do not hesitate to contact me. Any ISK welcome
There is another hint for the 7/10 but...
Edit: spelling corrections.

As stated above, you don't actually have to engage the battleship groups on the last level and they only start shooting at you after you open fire on the control tower / chapel. If you're warp aligned before you fire on it there's no way you'll get blown up unless you stick around to watch the fireworks. You can destroy the ships close to the tower without causing the BS groups to aggro. The tower itself will die in seconds - especially vs. battleship firepower
Another way to buy yourself an extra few seconds is to send your drones up to aggro the tower first - that way the BS groups target / attack them first. Obviously that's only a viable option if you're using disposable T1 drones ;)
As usual, you can also bookmark the location of the tower wreck (or one of the guard ships), complete the mission with the agent then come back in a looting ship without having to crawl through deadspace to get back there.
You don't have to engage the BS groups... but you can if you want. Last time I did this mission I got the Blood Raider version for a change and I decided to see how my souped up Ferox could handle them. I managed to kill all the escort frigates and the BCs of one group before warping, then went back and killed the BS of one group (one at a time) before I got bored of having to crawl back through 3 levels of deadspace. Not bad for a Ferox vs. all that EM damage :) Admittedly, it helps when you know what to expect, but it was the first time I'd seen the Blood Raider version of this mission (very slightly different to the Gurista one)
The groups are non-aggro when you warp back in each time so you can close to your optimal range. Also once the tower is down (and you warp back in) aggroing one of the BS groups doesn't seem to cause the other group to aggress (at least, assuming you keep a safe distance from them), which makes handling the damage much easier. I think by using that strategy a Tier 2 BC might well be able to take on the BS groups with a little care, a battleship should have no problems.

Angel strike 10 of 10. Clear the first couple stages, and get to the chapel/arena stage. Look at all the BIG + off to each side (I do lvl 3's so far, not tried l4), 5 BS, 5BC, and frigs on one side, 5 BS and lots of frigs on the other. 2 cruisers, 2 frig at the arena.
The BS/BC groups will aggro as soon as you engage the objective.
Don't shoot objective. Just kill 2xcruiser and 2xfrigate near it. Warp out, and refit for EM/Therm tank. Warp back
Take out 1 group of BS/BC, and then the other. Gives you time to regen a bit, and get your tank back.
10-13 million isk bounty on those ships alone in lvl 3.
Edit: For clarity, this is the most DPS I've taken during a mission, and it does scare the bejezzus out of you for first couple times though. Just don't be afraid to warp out if neccessary. Make sure you stay aligned with something, and try to keep range.

Hm. I think I had that level 3 mission a couple of days ago in my BC. Flew up, popped the nearby cruisers and frigates, then popped the structure and warped out okay. And that was after making the mistake of spending several seconds after the structure popped playing with the overview to try to find a can which wasn't there before I warped out under heavy fire. (It said the person I was trying to rescue would be ejected - it didn't say she'd then fly away invisibly!)
This character, excluding her industrial 5, has all of 1.3M skill points and is flying a T1-fitted Drake. So no, I don't think this mission's too hard for level 3! |

This 10 of 10 part is NOT too hard for levl 3. But it has to be done correctly.
1. Warp in - kill nearest frigs. 2. Take time to shield rep/armor rep and fly toward central hub & ships. 3. Get into optimal and kill all cruisers near central hub (note: two BS groups will NOT aggro you). 4. Take time to shield/armor rep and get within range of central hub (get VERY CLOSE), aligned toward set warp out point on AP (whatever gate you want). 5. Target central hub begin firing and at the same time set engines to full speed toward warp out point. Two BAS groups will begin targeting and firing about 3-5 seconds after you first fire. Just keep firing at hub until it blows, then hit AP and you are out of there -- mission accomplished. I did it all in an AF.
Ohhh, BTW, make sure thatbefore you start firing at hub, BM the location. When you return to agent, click completed and go back to pick up all the loot and salvage away. I received a +3 memory drop from the tower, 1 million bonus, and a +5% hyrbrid dmg hardwiring as payment. Quite nice actually.
For those who want to try it and have time, after you warp out from destroying tower, I have HEARD you can warp in and nt be aggroed, which gives you the opportunity to get into a longe range BS or HAC or BC and fly back, go to far side of BS group #1 and snipe until they are dead. Then, warp out, and back in to do teh same thing to group #2. Haen't done this yet, but I hope to try as soon as I get a bit more range on my Drake's missiles.

I did this storyline quite easily in my Battlecruiser (Hurricane). Only have about 350k in Gunnery, 300k in drones, 80k in missles.
Killed all the frigates and cruisers first. Then I got RIGHT on top of the control tower (500m) and popped it in under 5 seconds with artillery. (No tracking issues when you are at a dead stop). Grabbed the can that dropped and warped out.
They never even had a chance to hit me once, even warping from a dead stop.
Got a nice 30m isk implant from the structure and 2 17m isk cargo expanders from earlier enemies. (64m isk from a storyline mission... mmmmm)

I did this one solo in my Apoc just the other day and killed everything. The only thing that ****ed me off about it was that I took so long that most of the wrecks (and loot) in the last stage vanished before I could get to them, one wreck even disappeared as I was locking it. I saw that time was running out on the wrecks after I had destroyed one side of the BSÆs, so I quickly engaged and destroyed all the support ships on the other side and left to get my salvaging ship to clean up everything before finishing off the last BSÆs.
ThatÆs when I found out that activating a salvager appears to aggro NPCÆs. The six remaining 900k BSÆs all opened up on my Wreck Remover from about 30km, I had passed closer to them before, and they only aggroed when I activated a salvager within their aggro radius. IÆm glad I picked an Armageddon for my salvage ship, because anything lesser would have insta-popped.
But even missing out on most of the loot and salvage on the last room that mission got me 14M or so in cash. There is usually pretty good loot in that last room, I got a large vestment reconstructor from one of the BSÆs that I did get to salvage.
Wrecks should last longer in mission deadspace or at least donÆt have salvaging aggro NPCÆs.

You should see Guristas Strike 10/10 (against Serpentis). Complete polar opposites.
I cleared the 2 BS spawns with a T2 fitted Raven and never even ran the booster once. Just sat at the warp in and peppered them with torps. Most were dead before they even got in firing range and then their damage was laughable.
When I did angel strike in my domi... I warped out at hull several times. Maybe I didn't know about hardeners back then?

It's a trap for the people who don't pay attention to the mission briefing. * * * In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

You are correct. The only storyline (at least in recent memory) that I have declined was some crap that wanted me to haul 40k m3 7 or 8 jumps into hostile space for a piddly 5m isk - IF i finished it in time.
Maybe for a t2 leadership implant, but not for some piddly isk.
I took no penalty for declining.

Ah, heh. For the lvl 3 version, this mission (Angel Strike 10 of 10) was 15% faction adjustment.
Make SURE you have your free refusal ready before turning this one down.

Yes, that standing increase is huge.
Did this yesterday.
First two levels are easy and third is fine til you pop the structure.
A corp mate and I cleared the last room in about 30 minutes with T2 fitted ravens although I did have to warp out once as the DPS was quite bonkers.
The BS drop some lovely loot and even managed to pick up 2 guristas diamond tags.
Can anyone comment on how this compares to the AE bonus room as this was probably the toughest tank I've dealt with since lvl 2 worlds collide for the first time (I tried to kill everything in my caracal )

BS groups are super easy to tank in a domi. Hard to pass up killing them all for the bounties. Just don't touch the tower and kill em at your own pace.
Or, as others have said, kill the tower, bookmark the can, and run for the hills. Collect loot after turning in the mission.

2 ways to do this stage i know of. hit and run or kill everything. u need a fast ship for hit and run but if u want to kill everything u have to do it in order. its fully solable in bc, bs, hac or better. main thing is to get ur kinetic to 90+ with 2-3 active hardners because there will be a lot of missiles. start 1 of the 2 groups with 4 cheaper bss. only 1 group will agro mad but with kinetic resistance in the 90's it will be very survivble even with cheap gear. after 1st group is finished move to next one and just shoot the closest like ur supposed to. kill the can structure last. some missions can easilly become 1 lvl higher with bulltactics angel's blockade comes to mind when u shoot them out of order. good luck.

I'm in the process of working through this storyline for the 2nd time in 2 weeks. The first time I got to part 10, saw the battleships and left! lol I'm in a Drake. I had my friend come back in with his Raven. We killed the structure and everything else... 7 battleships worth 1.2mil each plus frigs/cruisers. It was insane!

I solo'ed it in a Drake. I was able to take out the structure and grab the implant the first time without any problems. Since I was able to kill off most of the small stuff before I had to warp out, I decided to see if I could kill off everything. It took another 2 or 3 warp-outs to kill off the battlecruisers. Once they were gone, it was just a grind to take out the battleships. It took a while to break their tank, but they couldn't do much to hurt me, because of my smaller size and higher speed. The key is getting the resistances right. You need to have hardened your self well against kinetic damage.
