Hi,
has anybody ever tried to shield tank with a battle ship instead of using the usual armor tanking strategy? What are your experiences? What's the best setup for this? What are the advantages / disadvantages compared to armor tanking?

I heard that some very crazy ppl actually shield-tank they're battle ships. It might be just a rumour though. :)

Regarding passive shield tanking I suppose that only the Scorpion is a usable solution. But what about active shield tanking?

Now I may be wrong here but I'm sure some crazy folks might actually ACTIVE shield tank Ravens and some Tempests too. Now don't hold me to that it's just a rumour I heard....

All caldari BS are shield tanks (for PvE at least) , as is the Maelstrom. You can also shield tank dominixes and tempests.

Shield tanked domi's dish quite a lot more damage than armor tanked domi's as it can mount guns in highs 
(PG of a shiledtank is lower and the domi has good CPU to cope with shieldstuff)

It all depends on what you want to do.
Basicly, any battleship with 5 meds can work excellent as a shield-tank, depending on the situation.
So that's

Raven
Rokh
Dominix
Hyperion
Tempest
Maelstrom.

yes, when nobody is watching, i sneakily put shield stuff on my raven..... 
dont tell anyone else about it okay? im so embarrassed...

i wanna se how do u plan to armor tank an scorpion.....and for the rokh....he has allready shield tanking (bs special skill 5% to all rez per level).....so if u wanna armor tank the rokh its a stupid ideea......cause u can heavy shield tank the rokh and still keepp great dmg(dmg mods in low slots)......
so caldari is shield tankers....mintamar...a few ships...and the rest are armor tankers....
so have fun

Scorps of old used to "armor tank" and by that I mean fit an armor rep and maybe a plate.
Shield tanking a scorp for anything outside of tanking for a mining op is pretty pointless. It has crap dps and by making a good shield tank you basicly crippled its ownly real reason in existing (having 100000 jammers making people cry).
