Hell most games these days can't keep up with the fast pace of GPU advances, but games like EVE, that take on a stylised, graceful approach to graphics rather than trying to lump as many pixels onto the screen, achieve a harmonious balance between pretty and useful.

Mercenary Coalition	Posted - 2007.04.04 13:19:00 - [45] I've got a ridiculous number of screenshots kicking around, and I'll occasionally boot up my external screenshot drive and go through them, looking at how the engine's evolved over time. It's quite a testament to the artistry at CCP to create something that's pretty timeless in its visuals. Obviously the cobwebs are starting to show in some respects, but I'm still to this day consistently amazed every time I load up the game. From the beauty of combat, to the small details (just watch a fighter for couple of minutes), there's hyper detail everywhere you look. I've often said to others that more design love has gone into the humble jettison can's visuals than some other entire games. Good stuff V. warp drive active \| nature vraie

Verone Veto. Veto Corp	Posted - 2007.04.14 14:50:00 - [50] For the all the Gallente Assault Frigate fans (in particular the Enyo), I've added a few shots from a frigate op we ran last night. I've added a couple of Vindicator/Deimos shots too, a couple of Astarte/Eos shots, and a couple for all the Matari Assault frigate pilots out there. There's also a shot of the Eve-Gate added (i have some of these @ 2560x1024 if people need them, just Eve-Mail me), and a couple of the Black Monolith over in Genesis. Over the next couple of months, I'm going to be doing a tour of New Eden in my spare time, so hopefully we'll have an assload of shots of all the monuments in Eve, including The Serpents Coil, The Myridian Strip and the ASCN Memorial Wreck. I kind of want to chart these before the Trinity engine upgrade so as there's a good baseline for comparison on improvements to the engine. As well as that I thought I'd share a copy of my new desktop background.. It was taken in New Eden so some with a view to the RP backstory of Eve might like it, others might not. (sorry for the slight jpeg compression the original image is 3200x1200) It marks the start of the search for all the monuments in Eve, which hopefully I'll be able to photograph before the Trinity Engine upgrade. If anyone would like a copy of the shot of the Eve Gate, Just Evemail me and let me know what you want. I have shots with the gate itself in various locations on the screen, and in resolutions ranging from 1024x768 to 5200x1900. I've been on a bit of a personal quest for the 'Earth-Like' planets in EVE, partially cuz they make such good backrounds for screenshots. I have not been able to find any in the New Regions, however. Have you had any luck out there?

Although, I'm fairly sure there is a good reason why you are not.
