At 10am GMT on the 7th of January, The first of the Maelstrom Deathstars will come out of reinforced. From then on in, the rest will come out over the next 48 hours.
It is primarily a TCF Force, who have come to take the outpost we built a few months back. They have been supported by local enemies UNL, as well as friends from Goonswarm, Smash, Roadkill, RA.
There is no call of 'omg you brought too much', we admire the proffessionalism in bringing a big enough force to crush anything we can try to muster.
A day ago we received a call from TCF command telling us we could walk out with all our assets over a 2day NAP, handing them the station and avoiding any bloodshed. This is very appealing, because as an alliance spilt 50/50 over industry and combat, we could never hope to assemble a force large enough to break a gang of 350+ including 18 or so dreadnoughts. We have answered TCF, and while we appreciate the opportunity:

Every maelstrom pilot is ready to lose everything we have to defend that which we built. If this is the way our region is going, so be it.
If smaller industrial alliances are being destroyed, so be it
If the south is a complete and utter cluster****, so be it.

I think everyone in the game, regardless of diplomatic ties to the french always get some sort of rip on em. And good for those people, lord I hate those tiny little mustaches and those pretentious berrets. :D

I for one will continue to support Maelstrom by killing as many UNL ratters and miners(and any TCF that wander my way, ofc) as possible, until Maelstrom falls or my pilgrim becomes a sparkety wreck full of T2 and faction fittings. 
I pray the rest of my alliance will come in force to assist, but I fear that this may not be the case.

I'm not sure what you mean by contractors or not, anyway LV + MC tried to protect V and failed, they tried to protect ISS and ... failed, now they're trying to protect you, well... but it would have been no fun to take an outpost without any significant resistance.

Well i am happy to say that the fights have been very interesting indeed, even with the lag both forces have fought proudly and honorubly. Each side has taken casualties and both remain in the fight. I would like to put out a massive thanks to our allies, its good to see that the coaliton that has been built in this war is finally starting to stick together !! I know I for one am putting myself to the test in the defense of my home and those that I call my Eve family. I-N has been my first 0.0 home, and I'll be darned if being outnumbered 4-5:1 is going to make me reconsider.
The battles I've participated in, while laggy to the point of pain, have been fair and well-done, and I have to say that I am quite happy with the lack of exploits used, and the general friendliness from both sides.
Goonfleet, TCF, and all our ememies, I look forward to more clean battles in the murky mire of slow space. To LV and all our allies, my heartfelt gratitude. I may be but a carebear by all measures of a pod pilot, but this carebear will have teeth sewed on for the glory of the Alliance!

You'll note the day 3 report was provided after 1100 hours... and you're complaining about the day 4 by 0500. If you'd like, feel free to provide a day 4 report yourselves -- TCF have been good opponents, and I think everyone trusts that you'll give a fair assessment of how things went. For our part, I think Maelstrom is very fond of Sergio's rhetorical flourishes, so we'll let him do the honors.
For a teaser though, I'll say this: Maelstrom Prime is still in Maelstrom's hands, and its going to stay that way.

Day 4 after the attack
The commander woke up, not that he had any much sleep anyway, he was too focused on the on-going war out there. Distant Flashes of light were lightning the space far away, red and gold, ôCapital Torpedoesö he thought.
3 days after he launched a massive surprise attack on the I-N system, he, once again, computed his options.
The I-N system was an interstellar hell, a single station, 15 moons, a few days ago every single moons was occupied by an armored combat station, the minmattar version, the ugly, devastating one.
This he knew before the attack. He had planned for it. In fact his war headquarters was now installed between the remains of a previously destructed armored combat station.
What he didnÆt know before the attack was what the reaction of the star system owners would be.
I-N was the territory of the Maelstrom Alliance. They build the place, through sweet, blood and tears, literally.
The commander knew he has a devastating force at his orders, one the Maelstrom alliance could not match.
After the initial devastating assault, he made them a proposal. They, politely, declined.
Maelstrom Alliance, he thought, are not without courage. They are also certainly not without friends, he then smiled.
Recovering from the initial shock, the Maelstrom Alliance has called for help and old friends responded.
The plans for the third day of the assault were put on hold. The adversary forces were eager to fight and some fights occurred. Testing.
Before the killing, wolves circle the wounded beast, because wounded beasts can be dangerous, certainly when they are proud and fight for their home.
Plans were remade, options analyzed. From both sides, new forces and allies poured into the I-N system.
The chosen option was a no-brainer for simple plans are often better in the heat of battle.
The plan was brute force only : the station and the interstellar gates to the system will be blockaded by large fleets.
The inter-system space will be constantly scanned by recon forces and any adversary fleet found will be taken care of by special fast forces.
When this will be in place, the armored war stations will be attacked by a rain of capital and armored fleets.
Brute force was effective.
At the end of the fourth day, seven armored war stations were destroyed; corpses and ships remains littered the system. Outnumbered, outgunned, the Maelstrom Alliance launched counter-attacks, each time, every single time, for each fights, they fought.
Waves after waves of ships broke under a rain of fire. Waves donÆt move shores, but nevertheless they tried.
Basically, in tactical warfare, such a brute force show has for main target to demoralize the adversary, to break his will to fight.
Not here, thought the commander, not with those adversaries.
He stopped computing options, poured himself a glass of red wine, the infamously precious liquid begun to flow in the glass. A few hours before the eighth war structure of the Maelstrom alliance was being attacked, he looked into the glass at the movement of the wine ôA toast for a Maelstromö, he said and he drank.

- this is of course a romanced version
- for the story, I essentially made this an M vs TCF fight. Here are, as far as I know, the actual forces.

I dont know wether Maelstrom will be able to hold onto the the station, (I hope they do)but nobody can deny Maelstroms's spirit and fighting fortitude.
What ever happens to I-N Maelstrom can no longer lose this fight, an alliance is more than a structure, size or even soveriegnty, a true alliance needs to be recognised as efficient, structured, disciplined, committed and courageous, during this fight Maelstrom has shown it has all those attributes and more.
Maelstrom can only row on the back of the story of this battle, wether in I-N or somewhere else,

COMBAT REPORT - DAY FOUR
Day three ended with the beginnings of what could turn out to be a Cinderella story. We'd saved every tower we'd set out to save, we'd had reinforcements come in from all around, and things were going a lot better than anyone had dared to hope
Sadly, Cinderella got sniped at the RF6 gate
We knew that come monday a large amount of our defendisve force would be unable to log on, due to other commitments. Some have families to look after, jobs to go to, and dole queus to join early. Nonetheless we knew we'd fabricated two advantages for ourselves in the previous 24 hours. TCF now knew that we were not going to be a pushover, and we were not going to leave quietly. We've already seen that due to our defense they had been wary of committing lumberinc capitals to drop our structures. The second thing we'd done to help ourselves was to probe every single TCF logoff in I-N, and without exact numbers, destroy and pod anything between 1/3rd and 1/2 of those. It was some excellent work from a few dedicated covops pilots who spent inexorable hours looking for people to give our interceptors opportunistic kills.
Five or six towers were going to come out of reinforced today, again one before DT, and the rest throughout the day. We tried to defend the one before, but the dreads were back, and we could only get a mixed gang of 27 or so pilots. We organised over downtime and phoned around making sure everyone that could be on would be. Sadly this wasn't many more, and with everyone and their dog logged on at 11.30, we had a gang of around fifty pilots. While we had a few carriers and anti-cap battleships, it was never enough to defend anything solidly, and this was sadly the flavour of the day. We got a few kills, as did the enemy, but TCF were inexorable and methodically dropped every tower as it came out. We managed to save one later on, and the count now seems to be at half saved, half lost. Exact numbers are still not publically available, but while we're not defending everything, we're certainly not letting anything go. I called a meeting with all available directors, and gave any corporation the option to bow out honourably, knowing nobody would hold them in disregard. Still, the message was I still have ammo, let's keep going. And we did.
TCF now have a handful of POS in our system, ]v[ now have a handful, and there's that many again coming out of reinforced today.
A couple of things to note.
CCP need to allow those who own sovreignty to name moons. my mind is completely destroyed trying to remember which moon has Ospreys on it, which has dreads, which has bubbles, and which has goons. 7-2 8-1 8-2 and 9-1 all sound very similar, very fast. It seems both sides lost ships because they simply warped to the wrong place when under no pressure at all
When our (SOBS) POS came out of reinforced, everything was offline. Guns, hardeners, hangars...everything. I checked the fuel reserves and there was at least a week of everything. No idea why this happened, but with guns not firing, everything came to shoot it, including some Harpy-class AFs
We're still here, and if you want this outpost TCF, you still have a lot of work to do.

sidenote : boring to be killed few jumps from I-N because of the people there, we were only 40 in a system, however it was lagged to hell, 45s to switch target when fighting at 13 against 27 is often lethal :)

Waiting for 17 hours at a weekend to get some action *check*
Jumping for 25 minutes into the target system, pushing the local count close to 500 while 35% of your fleet gets sniped to death without seeing anything on the screen. *check*
Beeing not able to lock or shoot anything when finaly looking at the enemy *check*
Logging off to come back later *check*
Logging back in just to get killed after destroying some corpses for friendly cov ops pilots at the station, while beeing aligned all the time, but warpout not reacting althou it has about 20-30 seconds time, and everyone around you seems to be able to warpin, lock, scramble and shoot you just fine *priceless*
******* revenge of the dead, I still think its karma for killing that many undead while playing RPG's.
But seriously. While the enemy might not be able to deploy capitals cause of the lag with many people in a system, you are not able to defend anything either. Jumping large fleets into the system is instadeath for a large portion of it. Not really the definition for fun tbh :)

Hey there arent only bad things to the lag..... In theory, I killed a Thorax while in mid warp. Not so bad!! heheehe. To be honest this Lag was a shame, Our FCs did a really Nice job assembling a Rescue fleet with all those improvised Xs.
Unfortunately this great Sudden Organisation was completely screwed by the Ridiculous lag. Almost seemed like this battle was rigged and arranged for TCF to win.  i Know its sad to say that... but jeeeeesuss Christ CCP personel do something about that lag.
This is reaaaally starting not to be worth the 130$ a year. Some1 will be enuff crazy to hire a lawyer one day!

Regardless of the outcome, all i can say is im glad to be part of it, i did have my doubts about ]v[ for a long time but those have been very firmly laid to rest.

As far as I am aware, all reports of a titan are false - I haven't seen one in system and i've spent the best part of the last 4 days in there. I've also seen no mails on any killboards with a doomsday weapon mentioned.
What I can vouch for is the truth behind the reports of lag. The lag is terrible at the moment, with 450 or so people in the system. In these difficult conditions, TCF and friends have taken down another POS, losing a Phoenix class dread in the process to a swarm of angry fighters.
Respect is due to pilots on both sides of the fight, for continuing to struggle amidst these difficult conditions. Let's keep our fingers crossed for lag-free days ahead.

I think that Thorax you killed mid-warp might have been mine. I wouldn't know, of course, because I was just looking at tranquil, empty space after it taking me 3 minutes plus to jump in (or so my screen said).
My first fleet battle, and frankly, probably my last. Good luck with your e-peens guys (whatever it is that you think it proves), cause this part of the game is busted, and just plain isn't fun. I'll just stick with the parts that are (which are many).

COMBAT REPORT - DAY FIVE
Things were beginning to look tight. We'd dropped a lot more POS than the first day had suggested we would, and neither Maelstrom nor our Allies had been able to mass the sheer amounts we'd seen on Day Three. TCF and friends on the other hand, were solid in their ability to keep large amounts of ships in I-N. Five days of constant hostiles in system, and the third day of a 24hr multi-bubble camp on the Outpost had made life very difficult, especially for those who inevitably got podded into there (due to lag, they'll tell you).
Let's take a pragaraph to talk about the lag. Wikipedia gives us a few pointers, and pretty much all of what's in that article has been present in some of the larger engagements, apart from maybe the physical convulsions. There's always been a loud outcry agasint lag on these forums and probably on every internet game in existance. Locking times of 2 minutes, module activation of 7 minutes, and similar, are no fun for everybody, but it's been good to see that neither side has *****ed in local about it, attributed losses to it, or gone on the forums and written a 12 page diatribe. We all know it's gonna happen, and we man up and live with it.
Nonetheless, both sides had clear objectives. TCF needed to take the 8th POS down and replace it with their own, thus giving them over half the structures in system and allowing the to take sovreignty and with it the outpost. They succeeded, and many Maesltrom hearts fell, until rallying speeches from FCs Zen Horizon and Mamolian explained that while they may take our outpost, they couldn't break the alliane. We had already exceeded everyone's expectations in light of a much bigger force, problems with spies and thieves, as well as the aforementioned lag. Our objective was no different on day five: make TCF bleed every single AU of the way.
At the point where TCF were going to assault the 8th tower, we had everything ready. NOS and NEUT battleships, and so many carriers that Baby Jesus was heard to shed a tear. LV had come in force, and local count was over 460. We'd seen TCF not use Capitals when we had a decent force behind the POS bubble, and were expecting another 'Battleship Tiptoe' But 4 minutes after the POS came out of reinforced, dreads warped from their 500k spot down to engage the tower, guns blazing. We had various covops pilots around them and we got the call: "warp to xxx at 100km! do it now!" all fighter-bombers, all battleships, capacitor and damage alike, warped, and landed within metres of Phoenix pilot Benzeb. The plan had been to go for a Moros due to them having the best anti-ship defence, but Benzeb was around 40km from the main group, and was seen as a target of opportunity. We arrived, locked, assigned fighters, then the whole of the system may as well gave gome to make scrambled egges (or Omelette, if you're TCF); the system almost died once fighters were assigned. We had 3 people who managed to maintain a lock on the Phoenix, and were giving constant updates on its shields. Nobody had any idea if they were under fire, if he was taking damage, how the POS was doing, nothing.
TWELVE minutes later, after a constant fluctuation of his shields, we got the call of 'Sucker's into armour'. You all know Caldari ships. Shields go, armour melts, and then it's time to pray you remembered to fit a damage control. Which he hadn't.
Phoenix down.
Then large amounts of people crashed, reports came in that the POS had nonetheless fallen, and somebody had ninjad the loot and run off with it. How they managed that, I have no idea; it's been over 12 hours and I'm still travelling away from the site at speed, unable to turn.

I'm only asking because I haven't logged into Eve for almost a week....who is on who's side here? And TCF owns M's outpost now I take it? Just trying to figure out what's going on...sort of been occupied with other conflicts...

The MadHatters Inc 0.0 company is proud to make their first fleet engagement on ]V['s side.
We met ]V[ a few months ago and were impressed by their dedication and love for their Emperor and their space. So we sticked with them to build our 0.0 experience.
At the beginning of this conflict and as MadHatters Inc. are not full members of ]V[, we had the choice to stay on the side line and wait to see what would happen.
I had a nice little chat with a TCF member on day 1 (who unfortunatly didn't know the "why" of this conflict) and will always remember this conversation:
(Translated from french and a little bit of edit to remove the useless parts)
TCF Pilot : I suppose we don't break Outpost only for the fun of it so we'll take the system...
TCF Pilot : ... I think that if you contact our diplomats fast, you'll be autorized to use the station when this is over.
TCF Pilot : You will of course have to make ]V[ and friends red and NAP UNL.
I politly thanked this pilot (who was truly respectful) for his advice and said "We'll see what the future holds..."
It was very doubtful that my teammates would accept such a way to act as we were very pleased with ]V[ and our growing faith in the Emperor.
TCF Pilot : Well... don't wait until Sunday when we'll have sovereignty on the system...
DeTox : Do not worry, I think our decision won't be long to take. Thanks and Good luck !
When I told my fellow pilots about this... advice. Their answer was strong:
"SCREW THEM... we win with ]V[ or we die trying..."
(The one who really said that died quickly but went boom in a blaze of glory screaming YARRRRR... although... being a big carebear ).
While my enemy warned me to expect the end on day 3, the awesome ]V[ pilots and friends made it last the double. There is no reason for MadHatters or any pilot in the Eveverse to doubt the ferocity of this small but accomplished alliance.

Those are the words we'll have in mind when the only thing we'll be able to throw at the other side will be tiny veldspar roids and scrap metal from our own wrecks while waiting for the final torpedoes to disperse our biomass in the I-N stars. While MadHatters are a drop in the Jita VI ocean... To us, the will and spirit showed by the ]V[ pilots and their friends will forever be remembered and will inspire us in whatever road we'll take when this conflict ends. And to our enemy: GG! We also learned a lot from you peeps.

COMBAT REPORT - DAY SIX
Still no signs of an old man on a white horse. Maybe he hooked up with the three Wise Men and will be along shortly to bring us Gold, Frankincense and Pwn.
Today's report will be short, due to two things. I wasn't around much yesterday - sadly I needed to outside into the real world and buy things like milk, cheerios and KY. Things run out, you kow? Also, I got podded halfway through the day, and the station-camp has been effectively stopping any station movement since day three.
We have two POS left. We've had magnificent support from LV/UCC/Myriad and NUTS. Sadly, it hasn't been enough to sa***uard our outpost. When TCF count how much this outpost cost them, it may well be that building one would have been cheaper.

I was kicked out of ]V[ under some unfortunate circumstances (which i had no part in), but even as an ex-maelstrom member i would consider it worth my time to go and fight for them. alas this alt i use to post can only fly impairors and my main has better things to do than lose battleships on lost causes. but i give my support to ]V[ and their FOX watching leaders. 07 Maelstrom.

I have to say good fight to all TCF pilots!
It's really refreshing being able to have good fights where we slug it out for several minutes, and not the *warp in at 240km, snipe one ship and warp out again* and *logoffski - logonnski* tactics deployed by others we've fought... We've been having several fights lately were there has been heavy losses on both sides, but hopefully fun ones!
Ofcourse the lag plays a role in here.. But that applies to both sides..

Fighting has been fierce and messy at best. As we struggle to strike their forces and secure the system as much as possible, I am struck with a fantastic realization. No matter what happens in this war, when the tensions resolve, one way or other, the Immensea Region will have forged a group of pilots that are dedicated and interwoven in a way that I have not seen before in EVE. These pilots (including the remaining ]v[ pilots and support corps that have endured when so many others have abandoned, LV, UCC, Myriad, et al) will have a memory and a bond that will echo loudly into the future.
I send gratitude and awe towards those who would give their time, assets and patience to aid us in such heavy times. I have gained a huge respect for many pilots of ]v[ who have sacrificed all that they have to stay here and fight as an alliance. When the hammer falls, it becomes plainly clear where motives lie for many around you. Thanks to all who have given themselves to this alliance.

You mean to say we're bitter? Giving Maelstrom time to rebuild.. without the drain of dozens of large towers.. will only mean bad things for UNL when we come back to finish the job
What a painful little alliance to fight.. I'm amazed we managed to rack up billions of isk in damage to you.. when all you fly is rifters! In the 3 months we've fought UNL.. the only time we managed to get a decent fight out of em.. was when we threatened their precious complex..
