I am having alot of troubles with my PC and now with EvE - i dont know if its the PC or EVE or both :P
I got a major PC crash issue - no idea what caused it -- system was rebooting the pc over and over again - locking up and such. Ran AVG, found nothing, used XP PRO install disk to repair, things seemed better.
Iddled in EvE for hours, no probs. Then last night i started crashing. Crashed 10 times in 2-3 hours -- CTD's while in game in station, in space no real rhyme or reason. I filled a petition, and have numerous dump logs in my eve folder.
Last night and today i have tried to reinstall eve, removed it using Control Panel/ Add Remove Programs. Removed fine, but couldnt reinstall - had an install error, cant recall which now. So i deleted the install file and downloaded a new one through IE (latest version) - and got a NSIS error. Seems a standard download error, if i hadnt just had all that comp crashing stuff. Now i dont know if im infected, have a bad HD or just a bad d/l.
I have just tried a download manager and will try again. Wish me luck.
If anyone has advice on how to figure out whats causing my game or pc to crash ctd reboot id love the advice, i know comps well enough, but im at a loss as to how to find the root of the problem. I wish dump logs were accessible so i could see where the issue is, driver, kernal, hardware, software ... bloody annoying :P
anyhow...

I d/l a file posted in another thread and game installed -- so if you have the NSIS error there seems to be a solution in another download.
I logged into game, character screen loaded -- but i CTD'd before i made it into game proper.

turned sound off at character screen - entered game - tried to d/l the cache clearer and seconds later PC crashed and rebooted -- got back in - re-entered game - warped to a stargate and CTD when i tried to jump.
Im trying to run as many tests as i can - but till i can read a eve dump log - i really cant be sure whats the culprit .. im starting to think its hardware -- :P trying to get a RAM tester .. a HD test i ran came back clean.

noticed my XP firewall was off -- tried to turn it on - wouldnt due to ICS error -- did something to winsock in CMD and rebooted -- firewall up - added an exception for playeve.exe (or whatever it is - now things are stable ... i think) I am really confused
Is there a dump log reader i could d/l and use to see wtf has been popping the game ?
i will reply when i crash next :P
snd is off atm -- will test with it on in a bit
thanks for the replies so far, nice to have someone take and interest in helping .. (/me crosses fingers that something worked).

you need to disable autoreboot to pinpoint the error. rightclick my computer=>propertys advanced =>bottom option "safe & restore" or something untick AUTOMATIC REBOOT
post the error also delete contents of evefolder\cache\browser\img

ok - now im not crashing or ctd'ing - its just freezing up regularily - like heavy heavy lag ..
but with a new Intel Duo, 7600 GT, 2g ddr2 ram, and a very good ISP (Eastlink) i sholdnt not be getting lag, and wasnt before my issues started.
Im wondering if a reinstall of my OS is in order -- this is day 3 of issues with the computer - crashes, hangs, issues rebooting pc, inability to install applications, winsok issue, ICS issues, NSIS issues... possibly the XP PRO Instal Disk FIX screwed things up, but im getting confused as nothing is popping up saying "look at me, im the problem". :P which is annoying.
Im getting to that point in this process where i cant recall what ive done .. so i dont know why its not crashing now, dont know if i have fixed something, or just changed it from crashing to lagging.

i tried playing my other MMO WWIIOnline - and i can play for a while and then i CTD -- when in game it runs smooth with high fps and no lag or stutter issues. (issues im now getting in eve ). But they both crash out after a while. WWIIonline app does write an error file, but i dont know if it would be related to eve, it doesnt mention a driver though , something about a "Exception: STATUS_ACCESS_VIOLATION".. anyhow thought i would update.
dont know what else to check atm.

got in game again - got a BSOD (finally) nv4_disp.dll - cool - i know what that is Nvidia issue -- i removed nvidia drivers through add and remove programs, rebooted, installed latest invidia drivers, rebooted, set desktop res to 1280 etc.. relaunched game - in space - at station, changed skills, went to dock and i froze.. couldnt alt-tab, or ctrl-alt-del -- mouse was still working, caps lock light came on, but nothign else... had to hard reboot using power off....

hmm if you got SLI, disable that for eve for a test, since you get errors for nvidia. try finding somethign liek "nvidia destroyer" (uhg) it shoudl completly nuke the driver... but uninstall driver first, dont reboot, run destroyer (not sure about the correct order, dont have nvidia :-P ) try a different driver, http://www.omegadrivers.net/ has ati/nvidia drivers tweaked, but i heard the nvidia ones are crap, cant speak for myself though since.. as said i dont have nvidia. You might give it a try, and disable v-sync, antialiasing and such for testing and the n slowly tweak your config

installed beta driver from nvidia which didnt even let me load the game .. i then uninstalled it and reinstalled latest official driver and now the game seems to work :P
i think .. will need to do extensive testing (playing) tonight to see.
i also have turned down acceleration and other such nvidia options, so - i dont know :P i will slowly raise them back up.. i didnt have SLI running -- not even sure what it is exactly.
sorry for all the spam, but perhaps someone will find something of use in here ..

rebooted PC - Eve client is corrupted or something .. tells me to reinstall.. so i remove the game, and all 3 of the installs i have downloaded including the one that worked yesterday, or the day before, give me the NSIS error, again. I seem to be going in circles.

PC continuing to be buggered -- NTFS.sys, tcpip.sys, same nvidia error, irql_OMG_I_CANT_FIND_STUFF errors etc..
So ive thrown in the towel and im formating the thing - sucks thats its only 2-3 months old.. whereas my old system is going on 4 years without a format... anyhow... will update after reinstall -- if there is still issues then i guess its a serious hardware issue ..
