Hi,
I am doing PI in 0.0 and i actually have 4 harvesting planets and 1 production.
I wanted to know what is the optimal way for efficient harvesting without depleting too much.
Option A.
Planet 1 100% Precious Metal Planet 2 100% Reactive Metal Planet 3 100% Toxic Metal Planet 4 100% Chiral Structure
Option B
Planet 1 50/50 Precious Metal / Reactive Metal Planet 2 50/50 Precious Metal / Reactive Metal Planet 3 50/50 Toxic Metal / Chiral Structure Planet 4 50/50 Toxic Metal / Chiral Structure
I'm trying to figure out if there is a difference between having 1 extracotr with 10 heads vs 2 extractor 5 heads each, in differents spots or havesting 2 differents ressources. |

I am pretty sure option B depletes a lot less. I used that setup on crowded planets for a long time, but eventually got tired or it and am now doing option A. Since there is more than just me on the planet(s), though, it is hard to say with complete confidence. |

The main issue would be the powergrid for having two extractors - the ECU costs a lot, and each head costs a bit more.
By having two ECUs you take away a lot of grid.
If you are able to have a deposit of both types of material relatively close, you could run 1 ECU with max heads for a cycle, then switch it over to the other kind for a cycle, etc. If the deposits are close but not within ECU range of each other, then you could run one type for a week, take down the ECU, put a new one up near the other deposit, reconnect it back to your launchpad, run the other type, etc. |

just remember you are gonna pay a 17% or 85 isk per unit fee to transport that type of PI off the planet and up to 2% sales tax selling it on the market. If you plan to go higher PI levels the taxes get even higher.
I am trying to do supercomputers and the PI taxes are eating up about 37% of the gross sale price at current market prices. |
