Originally by: Merdaneth You find it difficult to understand that I believe in slavery and yet willing to set slaves free and see them go back to Matar? I think that is hard for you because you mind is set in believing in a particular Amarr slaver stereotype. I think it is because you consider a humanitarian slaver a contradictio in terminis. It is not.
One presumes it is in the belief, completely alien to the Amarr, that slavery is actually wrong.
Originally by: Merdaneth I believe in duty, I believe in the law, I believe in God.
I'm proud of you, Merdaneth.
Originally by: Merdaneth It is my purpose to enlighten slaves and then set them free. If a Matar man has served faitfully and proven himself through good deeds, I have *no other choice* but setting him free. And once I free a slave, I consider it my moral duty to help him get on with his life. Some of these Matar choose to return to their homeland. I may not always like that, but he is a free man, and the law is the law, so I help them achieving that.
But your belief in the Law is a misguided belief that the Law follows Justice.
Originally by: Merdaneth Also, I rather have people from Ushra'Kan shipping back legally freed slaves back to Matar, than attacking targets in Amarr space as terrorists. I hope that a peaceful assignment will diminish your hatred and and save lives of innocent civilians.
I think we're all glad at this statement.
Originally by: Merdaneth Setting slaves free is not 'supporting your cause', settings slaves free is a divine imperative.
Setting slaves free is returning the status quo that every human being should be equal. Shame my sister doesn't believe in such things.
Originally by: Merdaneth And I don't 'play games' or 'exercise mental gymnastics', I'm trying to convince you that slavery isn't as bad as you think it is, and that the people who support it aren't as bad as you think, and that the 'freedom doctrine' many of adhere too is not as meaningful as a moral guide that you might think it is.
Would you rather prefer another kind of convincing? I know many Amarr prefer convincing by laser fire, but my first tool of choice remains words. Are you saying you cannot be reasoned with about this?
One day, you'll come to understand that your slavery religeon is founded on the misguided principles of evil. You're getting close to enlightenment, Amarr. Don't let your nation cloud your thoughts.
Originally by: Merdaneth I see Star Fraction explaining their view of 'freedom', but as soon as I see most Matari speak of freedom, they usually seem to mean 'Fight the Amarr'.
Freedom is the individuals right to lead their life as best they can. Justice allows ballance among all to not impede on each other in this process. This fight you refer to is merely the Matari people trying to gain back the Justice that the Amarr robbed them of nearly a millenia ago.
The Amarr should collectively beg for forgivenes, but none of us see that happening anytime soon. ----- "Boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past"
