Edited by: Apoca on 02/12/2003 18:09:08 The 10million ISK Shuttle - Please make sticky.
Basically a shuttle cost me 10mill and wiped out almost all my cash in one go as you can imagine i was not happy. Im sure this has several variations i.e the 100,000 isk shuttle etc. So just a warning if there is more than one shuttle for sale in a location check the price so you dont get a nasty surprise. Basically a shuttle is purchased in another region and put up for sale alongside the stations standard priced shuttle. Because your used to buying shuttles for 10k you dont tend to check the price before you buy. I was unlucky enough to have 11 mill in the bank otherwise I would have been alerted to it but even paying a mill for a 10k shuttle would be gutting. If you see "gandof" around please say a big hello with your weapons systems - he's denying all knowledge of recieving anything but thats a pile of. I certainly wouldn't trust this guy or anyone else that does this - if you see any others up for sale please post there names so we can see who these people are - they're the type that nicks off with all a corps bps or gives your location to pirates etc. so warn their corps as well. Several of his frozen body's would be much appreciated. Personnally he's spoiled the game for me and i was thinking about quitting at one point but im gonna ride the wave mainly because my corp mates have helped me out - Big thanks to Millenium members.
<Addition> Ok forget the fact im stupid for doing this and omg i was stuck for 10mill - im sure that this is probably done more regularly for smaller amounts say 100,000. This is not a lame moan its just a warning. I accept the fact i've been "done like a kipper", im swallowing my to let other people know i now have eve's most expensive shuttle <addition>
That name again - GANDOF - please please kill on sight just for the principal of it. Also please tell as many people you know in game.

That's copy and paste from what you said, yes, and still won't explain. Let me give different questions mybe:
HOW come you bought from a whole region, not more limited? Why didn't you check the price?
All in all this sounds like any other "scam" in EVE: People NOT reading the fine print on the market. Or are you saying this is a new trick?

Honestly? Yes.
Caveat Emptor.
A Fool and His Money Are Soon Parted.
This isn't a scam. It's a lack of attention on the poster's part. He almost had to work at buying that shuttle for 10m isk.
The basic market interface will not even show that shuttle for sale if 1) There is another shuttle for sale cheaper 2) There are 2 shuttles (denying it from being the largest volume) 3) There is another shuttle closer. #1 and #2 are rather hard to beat in a region with shuttles availible.
The market does automatically warn you that you're purchasing an item above the market average. That average not being the daily average. So in order to not receive that message a large number of shuttles would have to been sold for that price.
The addition of 3 decimal places is large enough to catch the eye of anyone that's paying the slightest bit of attention.
Sorry, calling this a 'scam' is nothing but a sympathy play for to cover his own lack of...cranial activity at the time of sale.

How's that a scam?
The dude has put a shuttle on the market for 10 mill, hell it doens't mean you have to buy it for 10 mill, thats just his price. We all know a shuttle isn't worth 10 mil and we all know he is trying to make money off other peoples mistakes.
If you assume that market is fixed just because the majority of shuttles cost 10k and buy blindly then it's your own fault.
I'm not saying what he did was right, but it wasn't wrong either. It's a free market. I could stick 8,000 units of Megacyte on the market for 50,000 each, would that be wrong and warrant being KOS?

I've seen this before in stations. I don't agree that it's not a scam, but it is a legal one - just like renaming an Omen to Armaggedon it relies on someone having a glance and making an assumption. Selling shuttles for 150k in 0.0 is "the price", pricing a shuttle at 10m so it looks as much as possible like the standard NPC price is a deliberate, low down, dirty scam. Better luck next time Apoca

Its a scam but one that has worked. After all a scam only works if there are plenty of suckers out there to fall for them and I wish I had thought of this one aswell.
Although I must ask, doesn't the market usually put the cheapest item showing first or does it work different with shuttles?
You want it I got it....erm unless I sold it, then some one else has it!?! :/

Unless someone knows otherwise, I'm pretty sure Jash is correct with the 3 conditions above. I'm stunned that anyone would ever even see a 10 million isk shuttle...let alone actually BUY one.
How exactly did you buy that shuttle? Where were you? Were you in a station without any shuttles? In a region without any shuttles? Well, if you were, there's the market at work for you...Supply and Demand.
The supply was one 10 million isk shuttle, and you asked for it.

For those of u who do not know the real market price of shuttles, its something around 340000 ISK but has been lowered down because of the inflated market! So if u buy for 100k ISK u wont be warned. There are some other items like this I encountered but forgot what they were. The best thing to do is to double check the price u buy an item. I personaly buy things in mass numbers and get a discount and 'cause its pwp (player with player) trading u can check it again before clicking accept!

As of yesterady at Kemerk V, CONCORD Bureau, there is for sale:
1 Gallente Shuttle: 9500 ISK 1 Amarr Shuttle: 999999 ISK
Anyone who doesn't bother to read the prices before he buys clearly isn't worried about how much he spends.

Maybe more people need to read the end of apocs post before deciding he's just whining or whatever.
He felt stupid, he was stupid, and freeely admits it, so he felt compelled perhaps out of the goodness of his own heart to say to YOU THE PLAYERS:
**** look what happens to yoiu when you don't keep your eyes open! Let this be a lesson to you, NOT to do what I did.
He wasn't aksing you for money, he wasn't asking you to kiss his ass and unload gobs of sympathy on him. At best he only asked you to kill the bastage that made him look like a fool. Simple revenge.
Was apoc a dolt for buying trhe shuttle? Uhm yes he was... does he deserve revenge? If he pays enough for the revenge there are a few peoplew who would be happy to say that he DOES deserve revenge, and would be likewise happy to facilitate that wish...
So call him a dolt call him a fool... But don't call him a jerk for making this post. He might be stupid for buying a shuttle with a big screen tv and a swimming pool in the back... Sure.
But he admitted that... he's just warning you asshats not to make the same "ST000PID" mistake.

And I don't want to kill Gandof. I should send him a congratulatory eve-mail for his clever use of the market.
As Jash once said in a different thread, if it's the only shuttle available in a region, it could well be worth 10 million ISK.

I seem to remember the 10m shuttle I saw was at Expert Distribution in Amarr. There's an almost limitless supply of Amarr shuttles but no other race so if you put up a Gallente shuttle for 10m and the buyer has "at this station" ticked then that shuttle will show for purchase.
