Is there anything that can be done to prepare for the new agent system? I'm running missions for my agent. Yes my one agent, just to get a feel for missions but I was curious if there was something specific I need to be doing?
Thanks for you help. If any of the Uber agent runners *cough j0sephine cough* has a system they have figured out I would be willing to pay for it.

I'd suggest checking, whether you have science lvl5 or mechanic lvl5 as those skills seem to be required for the new skills. Also verifying if your agent is a research agent might help too.

Id say get one that accepts bribes so you can get your standings back up quickly as possible after they get halved, assuming that the agents still accept them.

First let me say you guys rock, thanks. Second how do I know if he's a research agent or not? Seriously, I'm a missions n00b. have science 5 and mechanics 5 though lately I would rather have had Lg Energy Turrets 5.

Hey Maud Dib...I saw you in space once. That's always pretty cool, you know, seeing someone in space that you see on the forums.
Anyway, here's what I think about prepping for the new system.
First step is to see if your Agent's corp is on the list of corps that will provide you with the new research skills. You can find the preliminary Chaos test server data from the following location:
Tech 2 Skills By Agent Corp
At this point, if your corp is on the list somewhere you're in good shape. Now you'll want to see if your agent (or one you have access to) is also a research agent. You can find out by checking this list:
List of Research Agents
If your agent is not part of a research-y type of corp, you might want to consider going for a level 1 agent of a corp that is "on the list". What you'll want to do is find a corp that is of a faction (ie. Caldari State) that you have at least 2.0 or better standing with. Then you would look at the corp information page, agents tab, and find a level 1 agent who "accepts clients on dock". Go visit that station and...Voila! You are on the treadmill with a new agent corp!
There's a ton of other useful information that makes the missions go by faster. Here's a small sample:
- Have a fast ship, and a FAT ship (one for speed one for cargo)
- Shuttles are good for long trips with little to transport.
- Have a bunch of ore and minerals on hand...those agents often like lots of this stuff. Have every basic ore and mineral, up to Kernite (lvl 3 agents only for me) and isogen.
- Have a bunch of ammo and commodities sitting around. You'll get a feel for what you'll need to keep. Each agent usually displays a fetish for something or other.
- Have a bunch of holoreels. When you "save the premire" don't bother picking up the "misplaced" holoreel...just take one to the final destination out of your inventory.
Anyway, you probably already knew all that kind of stuff. Just put it in there "just in case".
Finally, the point made above about having a level 3 agent you can bribe is a good one. We'll lose some of our standings when the system switches over, and we'll want to earn that back asap.
Oh, one more thing. If you are really planning for the future you should also consider grinding to level 3 on a few different agent corps. Also, when you do level 3 missions for one agent, you might get a level 3 agent of another corp (one you've never done anything for). Go and bribe that guy and at least do something for him...after the patch the implants are supposedly NOT going to be faction based anymore. Rather they'll be corp based. Who knows, with enough variety in your agent corps you might end up with someone who gives you a Perception implant.
Oh, and one last-last thing. The pre-requirements for the new research skills can be found on the same link that had the list of research agents...just scroll down that page.
Good luck to you!

Um . . ..bribes are out I believe with new agent system.
Your Mega Afocal Pulse Maser I perfectly strikes Asteroid (Veldspar) [R0ME], wrecking for 798.3 damage.
Your 425mm Railgun I perfectly strikes Guardian Captain, wrecking for 685.9 damage.

It is very cool when you see some one form the forums in space. Sadly that dosen't happen to much. The only agent I have higher than lvl 1 is a Fed Navy agent so that takes him out of the running. I think I will try and get him to lvl 3 for the implants then start on a research guy.
Thanks again for all of your help.

How are you going to get referrals to research agents/ If you find one before patch are they going to carry over?

"How are you going to get referrals to research agents/ If you find one before patch are they going to carry over?"
... There's no referrals in new system. Agents will give you work if your faction and/or corporate standing is high enough to meet their requirements. And the requirements depend on quality of the agent.
E.g. you have low, but positive standing with Caldari state. You can dock at a Caldari station, say of Kalaakiota, where just happens to be low quality lvl.1 agent. Agent will give you missions, doing these missions will improve your standings with Kalaakiota company. As your standing grows, more and more Kalaakiota agents is willing to give you work because you meet their standing requrements. This includes the research agents -- the higher your corporate standing, the better research agents will run projects for you.
... And if you get referral to such agent before the patch then they will work for you after the patch without extra work involved, too...

Never mind; I found some more details, and they didn't. The research agents that exist now on Chaos, very probably won't be the research agents on TQ when the patch goes in.

It doesn't matter if you ran a million missions with The Scope or the Federation Garbage industry, what matters is your Gallente Faction rating. As long as it is above a certain point, you can work with ANY agent that will accept you from ANY corp you want. So for example, certain agent might require you to have a rating above 2.0 or something. On Chaos, the lists of agents are divided by sectors (administration, security, research) and by agents you can use and can't use right now. It's all quite simple when you take a look

Edited by: Elithiomel on 05/12/2003 08:07:11 Also the 2.0 faction rating necessary to aquire an agent is no longer in effect on chaos. I think you can get some agents all the way down to -1.0 faction rating, but don't quote me on that. Currently i have Minmatar 0.14 rating and there are research agents in some Minmatar corps that are listed as being availiable to me.
Skills wise it is also worth training up Engineering and Cybernetics to level 5 (already got both of these )as they are also prerequisites for some of the new construction skills. --------------------------------------------- Engineers motto; If it doesn't fit, force it. If it breaks it needed replacing anyway. |
