Edited by: IarWaiN on 10/12/2003 19:27:46 I have a suggestion, aside from the fact I do not like the warp inhibitor field around gates and stations, if we HAVE to have that then why not:
1. Make it a module, with high fitting requirements and cap useage. That way, any uncamped gate would work as it does now. And any pirates or gate campers would have to sacrifice a precious high or mid slot and some low slots (for the cap relays needed to power the thing) to have a warp disruption field. Some advantages would be:
a. This would allow pirates the pvp they want, but it would force them to work in teams also since if implemented correctly, a single bs would have a very difficult time providing the warp inhibit field and being 100% combat effective. (make the warp disruption field provided by the module have a limited radius, thus opening the possibitity or necessity for intelligent tactics in using it)
b. Gates not being camped would not add to travel time, since insta jump bm's would still work and insta jump bm's to a station in a system with good asteroid belts would also still work.
2. Second suggestion is to increase warp speed for small ships, and perhaps industrials (to reduce travel time for those who don't like pvp, but make frigates faster than indies) and decrease it for large ships like bs'. This would provide even more reason to use frigate and perhaps cruisers as "catch" ships to try to beat another ship to the next gate and catch/hold them while the bs's and other heavy hitters are still warping. It would be easy to amend or modify EVE fiction to provide the reasoning that larger ships like bs cannot warp as fast as smaller ships. An alternative would be to make big ships have the same warp speed, but they accelerate to their top warp speed much more slowly, so that the shorter the warp, the more quickly the smaller ships would arrive compared to the larger ships.
That is all that I can think of for now. I'm sure some peeps can think of good and bad aspects of these suggestions and I welcome their comments. I especially like Josephine's take on things |
