So.... I kill a NPC and attempt to salvage. However, I can't because I haven't collect all the useless loot in his cargo yet. So, I fill up on junk that I'll never use and continue to salvage the ship. By the third belt.... I'm feeling a little heavy. I drop a can filled with junk and continue on.
Fast forward 2 hours where the belts are littered with jet cans all full of stuff I don't want or need. I'd happily "trash it" if I was given the option from the beginning but I not. Meanwhile, the system is filled with hundreds of items that really aren't needed.
Please fix this. Either let me salvage the ship without taking the loot out or, let me trash the loot while it's in the wreck or my cargo hold. I'm grown up enough to understand that if a Salvage a wreck with loot in it, I'll lose the loot once I salvage. Right now it's just annoying.

Allowing you to salvage without looting would be the best option, just make the wreck pop with whatever is left in it after salvaging. Its stupid making you take out loads of crap you dont want.

This would be ok but you have to thing of what happens to the loot inside, you start salvage salvage salvage you miss that faction drop or simular piece or mission important item. Also if you belt ratting those are done in the last hour only as that's a can life span, 60minutes. If they have items in it, then take it refine it/sell it and make more money from not only the salvage parts but the morons who left things. I kinda dought there are areas fulled with jet cans when they only last an hour and only made every three minutes, it's just not that many rats in a area to drop that much loot unless your going in a tiny frig, but that's what a destroyer is for, use one 400m3 cargo add two or three small cargo containers have rigs in one, the other two will just boost your cargo gy 40m3 or 8 more modules while still having 100m3 more space as a buffer zone.

When you jetison crap into space you are trashing it.
As for the not being able to salvage with out looting I like this. If I kill a bunch of NPC's and don't have a salvager fitted I can leave my crap there and don't have to worry about someone taking my salvagables with out them getting flaged, giving me the ability to salvage thier ship.
Leave features as is. you people must be lazy.
Dynamic Endeavors is now Recuiting.!!
Contact me in game for deatails about the corp. Mostly a PvE corp, with Jump clones avaiale in Empire and 0.0. |

Have you ever ratted in 0.0? You can easily fill you cargo after killing 1 NPC battleship. A NPC battleship can have somewhere around 200m3 of loot on them. Cap charges are a regular drop and they take up a massive amount of cargo space. If you are ratting in a team you can easily fill a system with cans in an hour, plus I've had can stick around for far longer than 1 hour. Then there is the problem of not being near a base. So, I don't care about melting down the loot for the raw minerals. I'm have to bring haulers out to support that and I'm not interested in such a huge logistical operation.
Finally, I think your argument about missing faction loot is silly. If you are paying enough attention to what you're doing and salvage a can that had something "important" in it, then you need to pay the price for your carelessness. Forcing people to look into a can only benefits the lazy.
I'm diligent enough to open a can and look inside for valuable items. If other people are not, don't punish me for their laziness. I should be able to salvage and except the fact that some loot my end up being lost in the wreck.

Hello all, well! If Eve were making a game that was both rich in detail and mimicking things in reality!? Surly when u pop a ship, the loot would scatter into space.
Collecting loot to get to the salvage is no big deal. After all a jetted can hold 27,500ą thatĘs a lot of loot. Go through the belts collecting loot until u return to the jetted caną Empty ur hull and start over again. Then when u have a nearly full can lol haul it back and reprocess it. Or! Whatever.

Edited by: trHollywood on 22/02/2007 17:14:00 here is an idea have the ability to jet a can that is a free for all. there are lots of times i will be belt rating and some one leaves goods in jet cans they i would be more than happy to pick up and get the minerals.
then the only thing you have to do is not shoot the person thats cleaning up after you :)because if you did that it would just be counter productive you would be back at square one looking at those dam cans agine ROFL you know how every one alwase says there is not I in team. well i say of course not there is onle ME. |

I kind of like the idea of 'launch to public' for canisters. It's a bit friendlier and it's an acknowledgement that the player's launching what they think is junk which could be taken by anyone who feels it may be of worth. Plus it's a lot nicer public relation, can gain mild loyalty from less experienced players, it's like a pack rat entourage... (well, maybe not the best way to gain a following). An alternative could be "mark as public" for a right click option, along-side the "mark as viewed/unviewed", so that a person gives up their rights to things they don't really want anyway. |

Oveur actually mentioned in a recent post that Revelations 1.4 will allow people to salvage without looting the wreck. I would assume this would cause the destruction of the loot. Or at least I hope, because I don't want to see a cargo container left over and adding to the space debris.
Of course your other option is to destroy the can or cans. ----------------------------------------------------
